ridiculous delay from 7200 rpm HD

Usually it is, so fingers crossed! If mine wasn't cancellable I'd be on the phone with Apple asking for a status update! Usually it means they're building it already, but I would have expected them to be shipped by the next day. Maybe they've just already committed them them to the assembly queue?
 
I wish they would update the estimated ship dates, instead of having to wait for it to actually ship.

If they gave me a more accurate date like mid next week or even this month, I would stop moaning :D

Yeah, they usually don't change those, you'd just get an email notification like the day after it ships.
 
So where are these people who could no longer cancel their orders?

Hopefully they got their computer and are too busy having fun to let us know??! :p

I still don't see anything. I can still cancel mine, just for the record. I'm really itching to see how all my games run on the MBP. Hopefully we don't have any issues with ours, such as the thermal paste and screen issues.
 
a new day... but still a July 18 ship date! ugh:mad:

my mac veteran friends are creating a support group and constantly telling me that the 7200rpm is worth the wait in their opinion... but that's easy for them to say, they already have theirs and aren't checking their order status and these forums a couple times a day hoping for news of an earlier ship date.

well... in the meantime maybe i can splurge on accessories. :p

I know the wait will be worth it, it's just rather painful at the moment!!

A couple times a day?!! Try like every 30 seconds! hahaha! The PF5 key on my keyboard is getting worn out!!

I too have splurged a bit because of the wait, and I'm resisting the urge to splurge some more!!
 
I just called Fujitsu (1-800-626-4686) and asked about MHW2160BJ. He said they should be going into volume shipping by the end of the month. They are in production and some might have already been shipped out.

SO!

If that's our big holdup (my $ says it is) they should be shipping sometime within the next two weeks, but maybe sooner.

He was very nice and not secretive at all, so I didn't ask any more questions than that.

I'm afraid I have some bad news from Fujitsu! They just emailed me saying those drives won't be available until early August! Even to Apple!!!! :mad: They said that could change and recommended I check back next month. I'll check back in a week or two.

Sorry to pass that on, but if Apple doesn't start putting those Seagate drives in the 15" ones, they're gonna have a lot of unhappy customers!
 
Since they are supposed to be shipping by the middle of July, wouldn't Apple send us an email or something saying there is going to be even further delays. Or do they just change your shipping date on your order status and not tell you? I would hope that they would want to let us know since the wait is already so long.

I just called apple about my order status. The guy was nice enough to check on the status of the hard drive. He said that apple was set to receive them at the latest the 18th. But the time frame was from July 5 to July 18 for when apple may receive the drives. I don't know if this will change with the news you received form Fujitsu.

Apparently it's still possible they'll receive some next month, so I doubt they will change shipping dates until they get closer. And who knows, maybe they'll get some sooner, or use Seagate drives instead.

This is all speculation, I have no kind of confirmation that this is the drive they planned on using.

Wow, really?! You were able to get that kind of information from them, that's amazing! So they think they are supposed to receive them early next month, although Fujitsu says that's changed to early August, so who knows. Only 6-8 more weeks of waiting to find out!:eek:
