All one has to do is spread rumors that Apple is going to release Bright Pink Watermelon as the default color option on the iPhone 8, and immediately Samsung will copy the strategy and then pre-emptively announce that their upcoming Galaxy 8 will be available in the exclusive "gorgeous bright pink watermelon" color.

Samsung has a clinically mental obsession with Apple. Samsung is never content to just be themselves…. they "want" to be what Apple is, and what Apple does. A genuine jealousy complex.

Okay, let's say that happened. SO WHAT. It's just fashion.

Some of you act as if you've never been out in the real world, where you might see clothes, shoes, curtains, furniture, houses, automobiles, pots and pans and all manner of items, whose various manufacturers have copied styles and colors from each other.

Oh, the horror.

Silliest thread ever.

Samsung came out with a ruby wine red color for the Note 2 several years ago. I hear Apple plans to copy this next year. Just like with curved screens, stylus's and phablets, Apple has to always copy what Samsung does. It is ridiculous the obsession Apple has with Samsungs phones.

I was just adding to the fire. ;)
Samsung has been notorious for copying Apple in the past. I remember when Samsung came out with their original ipad clone, complete with a cloned 30pin connector.
I just think it is funny when people get their panties in a bunch over it these days. Know what I mean? :p

What you "fail to comprehend" as you put it, is how did Apple copy Samsung waterproofing if Samsung copied it from someone? The entire premise of this thread is weak. All phone manufactures use core technology from a few patent holders, and there is a lot of soft copying across the board with consumer trends.
Because Samsung took it mainstream.Sony phones werent even widely available in all countries including the US.

Take out waterproofing and even so Apple copied OLED and wireless charging along with glass back

Samsung copied themselves here because they have glossy black as a color option on quite a few of their special Edition Galaxies. In addition, this Pearl Black wont scratch as easily as the Jet Black so its superior to it

Pearl Black is just the Batman edition minus the Batman Logo

Taking it "mainstream" means they "copied". Right? It's no different than saying apple took the fingerprint reader mainstream.

You can copy OLED, the same way you can copy the qualcomm cellular chip.

How did Samsung copy Apple with removing the headphone jack if Apple copied it from someone else?

No matter what side anyone picks, the other side can argue an exact opposite point. The only people who are right are the ones not taking sides.

That's exactly my point, by stating the premise of this thread is weak. There is a lot of hubris over:
  • who "copied" a common piece of hardware that's on almost every phone
  • who "copied" a design element
  • who "copied" a color
  • who "copied" a form factor
and etc.

Apple had a glass back on the iPhone 4. Sorry, they had it first not Samsung. Apple has yet to copy OLED. All rumors.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
Samsung is already full-steam ahead in creating the Galaxy S8 all the while basing the design off of Apple'a rumored plans for the iPhone 8. It's being reported that Samsung will remove the home button as well as eliminate the top and bottom bezels: two moves Apple is likely preparing for the iPhone 8 due to be released next year. As Samsung's Galaxy brand is just an iPhone copycat, there will also be a dual camera setup on the S8.

Yes, the iPhone version of this design won't explode.

Samsung will debut the phone in February, a full seven months before Apple debuts the iPhone 8.

I know right!! I'm personally disgusted and they copied the wireless charging rumour I see too, they have NO shame!!....

I remember years ago before apple had 4g how people were saying it's a gimmick and it wastes battery and not needed when Samsung went mainstream 4g with the gs3.

you can't say Samsung is copying when that is where the market is going.one of USB-C main pros is that it allows audio through the port and a faster charging and faster transfer rates.

Google has been pushing to get hardware buttons gone on Android for years now and let's not forget the galaxy Nexus that had NO on screen buttons.

Samsung tried the no buttons years ago and the market was not ready yet.since then Google has been trying to ditch them but Samsung listened to its users to keep them. if the gs8 has no buttons or headphone jack it's not because of a stupid iPhone rumor.its because they went mainstream stream and went to USB-C along with following Google to ditch the on-screen buttons for good.

funny how everyone forgot about the galaxy Nexus.it had no Samsung branding in the front and on-screen buttons.tgat is the first phone to hit the market to support NFC payments with Google wallet.about 3 years before apple introduced it.

Apple's wireless charging implementation will be legitimately wireless in the way wireless implies (not just a surface contact "wireless").

It won't be copying, OLED is the better newer technology.

It isn't necessarily better. IPS and OLED has their advantages of each other. I honestly prefer IPS.

Nobody knows this for sure yet. There are companies out there trying to get this sort of tech approved for use (lots of health risk assessments and testing) before OEM's can utilize this in their products.

The question is, will Apple utilize this or find out it isn't worth the costs for iPhones (maybe it will only work with larger mobile devices like iPads due to space limitations)? Will they come out with something of their own design that uses similar tech? Or will they go with the tried and true Qi charging? Point is, you can't say the Apple's wireless charging implementation will be completely wireless, because you don't know.

Imagine how incredible of an update iPhone 8 would be if it included a bezel-less display and truly wireless charging. It would be revolutionary if they included so many advancements in one model year. I could see them saving it for iPhone 8s since the regulations may not be in place, but they should go all-cards-in on iPhone 8.

IPS has reached EOL. Cost per increasing benefits has become cost prohibitive compared to OLED and the newer more capable QLED.

LCD simply can't match LED contrast ratios or power efficiency and it is why LCD now languishes behind LED on Displaymates tests.

Funny. When I considered the Note 7 I thought that it was essentially what the rumored redesigned iPhone was slated to be(barring explosions).

I think it's just the direction of the market.

If the next iPhone is just adding another color they may be in some trouble as the iPhone is most of their sales now. I don't think they'd want to weather 2 years of sales like they got with the 7.

It would be awesome, no argument here! I'm already set to buy the iPhone 8 (whenever the 8 is released... 2017 or 2018). If it has this truly wireless feature, it will be icing on the cake!
