I agree, this is a design flaw. It's not that hard to make a mistake like that. Such a simple user error shouldn't break it.
Can't wait for Pencilgate and all the snapped ends. It's almost guaranteed to happen. Then come the class-action suits and the iPad Pro 2 comes out with an internal house she the Pencil resides and charges. The Note 5 pen is no more of a design flaw then Apple putting 16GB into it's iPhone 6S models with 4K video recording.
Because the Apple fans on here have stated that having 16GB on a 4K video recording device can't possibly be a design flaw... you just have to choose what you want, apps or 4k video, can't have both.
I do hope Apple include a lightning charging extension cable for that 'Pencil', otherwise it's a joke of a design.

Given the price of the tablet & pencil I don't think it'll happen on mass. The pen being an additional extra too reduces its audience further.
If you do buy both, the fact it takes only 12 seconds to get 30 minutes charge means I would assume it's not designed to be stuck in there for extended time.
TBH I think it's just as much a non issue in reality as the reverse pen gate scandal on note 5.
I do think it's only benefit is a quick way of charging pen if flat - stick it in, 12 seconds later you have charge. But I also imagine / envision there will be a sub to female lightning port cable either in the box or available from third party.
It's just something for one side to squabble with the other over on forums, and as this thread proves - folks can get pages of bickering from smallest things.
Oh yeah, common sense says it shouldn't happen. I almost think someone (perhaps a Samsung/Wacom 'sponsored' person ) might suddenly whip the thing out just to start a media storm.Given the price of the tablet & pencil I don't think it'll happen on mass. It really will not surprise me if it's on the front page come Christmas.

How come this was never brought up on the Note 4? I can stick the pen in backwards on it as well.
Apple choosing to keep a 16GB base model iPhone is more of a deliberate marketing choice rather than a 'design flaw'. It sucks for the consumer but the design works, just not to the same potential as larger capacity models. The Note 5 pen is no more of a design flaw then Apple putting 16GB into it's iPhone 6S models with 4K video recording.

The crap quality of Apples lightning charger cables is more of a design flaw as they are about as durable as a spiders web in a hurricane.
You mean as opposed to breaking the phone if the pen is stuck in the wrong way? Since you have extensive hands-on with the 16gb 6s maybe you can provide more information. It's a flaw, because it SEVERELY limits it's usage, it gives you features you can't use. It's a flaw.

Which carriers advertise unlimited with stellar coast to coast coverage? Which carriers don't have unlimited with stellar coast to coast.16gb on the 6S being a design flaw depends on whether the user in educated beforehand. 4K recording is advertised as a selling point for the 6S. So by Apple releasing a 16gb version, they are basically saying "screw you if you didn't educate yourself on the required storage for x amount of 4K recording". But to that consumer, it will be a design flaw that will surely register in the review section of retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, and etc.
It's the same with carriers that don't offer unlimited LTE data. They love to advertise Netflix and YouTube, but not letting uneducated consumers know your data plan will go over the limit fast, and you'll eithier get extremely slow data or billed highly for extra usage.
The case with the Note 5, is a very poor oversight IMO. It's a hardware flaw as bright as a sunny day. It's like putting a factory reset button on the side and blaming the user if they press it by mistake.
Please provide the same information about the pen going in backwards breaks a N5. It doesn't..... The pen can be pulled back out and the phone works as designed. You mean as opposed to breaking the phone if the pen is stuck in the wrong way? this line of thinking is no different than saying an expensive car will be totaled when smashed against a brick wall; it's a design flaw.
But good try, let's see how many 6s apple really sells.

Sure it can by using stuff plastic; I've seen the same videos you have. But that one has to do that with plastic at all is the issue. Please provide the same information about the pen going in backwards breaks a N5. It doesn't..... The pen can be pulled back out and the phone works as designed.
Umm actually the premise of that red herring is:Ummm no. It's not like saying anything close to that.
It's still not a design flaw, that statement is false in this sense. As somebody has said, it is down to the consumer to buy the right sized storage option if they wish to use endless data on 4K recording. If anything this is a specification flaw on Apples part. A 16GB iPhone will still perform and do the same as a 64GB, to a point but that is at the discretion of the user. It won't break the phone like a removable part on other devices. If they are educated enough to identify the need for 4K recording, one would hope they know it needs enough space to back it up. Perhaps Apple could offer advice on this if confusion is apparent? It's a flaw, because it SEVERELY limits it's usage, it gives you features you can't use. It's a flaw.
Umm actually the premise of that red herring is:
1 function a uses a lot of space
2 storage is limited
3 therefore function a is a design flaw since it would fill up storage
You can substitute many differing scenarios with the above.

I have no idea what the above means. Do you?Sure it can by using stuff plastic; I've seen the same videos you have. But that one has to do that with plastic at all is the issue.
