I doubt Samsung would remove the headphone jack and have any type of notch at the same time, that would be too much to bear for Samsung fans. Look how Samsung consumers reacted to the removal of the SD slot.

It's either going to be removal of the headphone jack and no notch, a notch with a headphone jack, or no notch and a headphone jack. I personally think the last option is most likely.
I agree with you logic. I mean they might take the headphone jack away and the put the FPS under the display. That would kind negate the effect of removing the headphone jack to its customers.
One thing you can say about Samsung....they do listen to their customers feedback.

Not entirely sure why everyone suddenly thinks Samsung is adding a notch. I don't foresee that happening. I know there was that leaked patent, but I don't think that necessarily means they're adding one. It was a patent just to have the patent.

Samsung will not deviate dramatically from their Infinity Display-look for the S9.

I'm excited that the iPhone X will push Samsung to improve face unlock on the S9. Hopefully.

Read this morning on Forbes that a leaker from China says the S9 is keeping its headphone jack, and rearranging the back FPS/camera module. Leaker also said that FPS under the display will not be ready in time, which goes in line with the earlier rumor that it will be saved for the Note 9.

And thats a good thing. The S9 with no bottom chin, a fp in a better place and improved iris scanning tech will make a great phone.

I'd like to see acmore utilitarian S9 personally (a bit like the pixels). Certainly stay well away from the unrepairable design of apples latest.

A pair or speakers at the top and bottom would be awesome as well.

No, the only person who is responding like a jerk are you. It's your fault for not reading properly. And everyone knows that if we talk about the Essential phone it's about the way they have implemented the screen. Because that's what stood out in the design.

Very classy. Insult me for asking a question about something that was not clear, and then insult me again when I point that out. I'm not on here to argue. Moving on...

I'd take that. + Double camera sensors.

It's definitely time Samsung adopts stereo speakers. Hopefully the way Apple/HTC do it.

I hope Samsung has a good trade-in program for unlocked S8s. :)

No bottom chin would mean no headphone jack.

And if they put extra sensors to turn facial recognition from 2d to 3D like the iPhone X, they wouldn’t have any room for headphone jack at the top like the v30.

Im hoping for a s9 mini. 5 inch screen with the same top internals. The curves should be more pronounced hopefully or I'll switch probably to the iPhone X

So you want a smaller screen with more significantly curved edges or you're switching to a phone with a larger screen and edges that are not curved?

I hate curved screens. The curves on the s8 are less pronounced then before but I still hate it. So, there are rumors about a s9 mini, and if that's the case, I'll go for it.

The iPhone X is a flat screen, and now they have a top tier screen aswell. If I had the money now, I would have jumped ship.

I still find the s8 and iPhone X a bit too big, so a 5 or 5.2 inch model from Samsung or the iPhone would be a instant buy for me.

Edit: I meant less pronounced.

Same. Hate curved displays. Palm rejection while typing one-handedly is why I hate it.

Both my stepdad and younger bro own an S7e and that's their #1 complaint. I would be totally fine if Samsung just redid the S7 flat size. Or S6 edge size without the curves.

That's my main reluctance with anything Samsung. I thought back in 2015 it was the most amazing design ever only to realize it's just a cosmetic gimmick.

I don't miss my S7e at all except for maybe Samsung Pay. I do miss my og Pixel a little.

Definitely had me confused for a bit on that one (prior to your edit).

The curved screens is one of the things that has led to my hesitation of getting the S8. Mainly, I don't like the glare it creates. That being said, while I'm still considering the Pixel 2, I'm likely to get the S8 pretty soon. I don't think I'm ready to abandon Samsung pay (and more importantly, its rewards), and I'm not a big fan of the form factor of the Pixel 2.

According to latest rumors, Samsung will be releasing a S9 mini (5") along with the S9 and S9+. Whether or not it will contain the same internals remains to be seen.

improved layout if true....
That prototype looks really good in that case. Wow.

Okay, did you guys catch the part where Jaime talks about Google tracking us without our knowledge or consent even when we turn location tracking OFF?

I’m keeping an eye on where this is going. I do not like that one bit. They can track me with my knowledge and consent but if I turn that ish off, I mean for it to be off and not tracking me. That’s just creepy. Ewww. (Sorry, I’m channeling my grandniece.)

It’s bad enough the paparazzi hound me day and night. It’s not easy being both a stunning supermodel and world renowned archeologist. I don’t need Google on my tail. :p Okay, so really the most exciting thing I’ll be doing today is cleaning out the aquarium, but still...

I'm really wondering what the S9 is going to bring to the table this year, cause so far it just looks like they've flipped the camera/fps vertically compared to the note 8. Maybe I'm just expecting too much but phone releases are just getting boring the last little bit, they're already maxed out so it's just less bezel and a bit better camera.

:D I only went on FB because of friend and family pressure. But I quit when I found out how politically charged the environment is there. Also everyone even remotely related to my actual friends and family members was hitting me up for money constantly on all these fund me type things. When I found myself donating over a hundred dollars to my daughter’s ex-teacher’s cousin’s vet bills, I got the clue it was time to leave.

Okay getting back to the S9, my husband just texted me the rumor that it’s going to ship with Nougat not Oreo. But he didn’t send me a link as a source and he went into meetings so I can’t follow up on this bit of news. Anyone know anything about this? That’s not good news. Oreo is delicious! Well it was on the Pixel 2 at any rate.

Edit: I can’t find anything in a quick search to substantiate such a rumor. He gets weird news on his newsfeeds sometimes, so goodness only knows what the source was. National Enquirer? Lol!

Bejamin Geskin posted these images on twitter, like that they’ve gotten rid of the bottom bezel, should help a lot with the height, but still hoping they embrace the notch (or find a way to put the sensors behind the screen) for the Note 9.

Considering that Samsung has an Oreo beta out for the S8 series, I'd be quite surprised if their next flagship still shipped with the old OS. I don't buy that rumor.

Sigh. Edges, not a surprise but it strikes me every time I see them. I think Note 8 did edges nicely.
I'm not the biggest fan of edges, but with their current implementation I can live with them as they seemed to fix quite a bit of the false touch issue between S7 Edge and the S8 series. Now there's only the reflection issue left.
