My toddler has managed to order a p20 lite from amazon. I tried to cancel the order but it’s already been dispatched so I have to wait until it’s delivered and then refuse delivery. I’m thinking of getting the S9 plus or the P20 Pro to try out until the iPhone X plus comes out. I’ll keep my X of course but it’s that time of year again when I try out Samsung’s latest phone. I did like some of the stuff that was announced for android P at I/o and I have a google home mini which I’ve had for about a month and I’m really enjoying using it, especially with my chromecast.

Uhg, somehow cracked the screen on my S9. Never dropped it, it was in my pocket (along with my keys, I know dumb of me), went to the movies and when I pulled it out after the movie it had a crack emmitating from one of the curved edges. My guess is that was where my keys were putting pressure on it while I was sitting and it cracked.

So far, in my 12 year history of owning smartphones, I have only cracked the display on 2 of them, and both had one thing in common, curved displays (S7 Edge and S9). I really hope Samsung starts giving us an option of none curved screens.

This is my first Samsung and although I've had slightly curved displays before none are as curved as these Edge screens. I have read stories of peopls cracking their screens seemingly for no reason, they take the phone out of their pocket one time and it's cracked. I can't see that happening and surely Samsung would retire curved screens if it did. Still, bad luck. I will continue to hope this never happens to mine and if it does then it will be the last Samsung I buy.

I think we can be confident that curved screens are not prone to cracking for no reason. Considering the fact there are millions of galaxy phones out there, and the fact people love blaming manufacturers for every problem they have with their device, we would have heard about spontaneous cracking screens years ago.

In which countries are they being discounted, I can tell you that down here in SA the S9s are definitely not being discounted.

USA. Best Buy has had it for $300 off.

yep, USA. quite a few of the carrier branded models have been on sale at one point and even the USA unlocked version.

Samsung has a sale (through their website) on the Verizon S9, S9+, and Note 8. up to $310 off.

That sucks.

I can't recommend these cases enough.

I have had one on my note 8 since day one, and it looks brand new. Only folio case that is still very slim, and give 360 protection.

Go through your app list in settings and see if anything seems out of place. If so, uninstall.

I actually had a tech21 case on my S7 Edge when it broke, so don't really trust the brand. Also not a fan of folios for phones, don't like the idea of always having that flap to deal with.

Thanks for the recommendation, but I'm going to order the Samsung made rugged case.

Based on this hands-on, the Sunrise Gold looks stunning: https://www.androidcentral.com/sunrise-gold-samsung-galaxy-s9

Wish I knew this was coming out. I like my Coral Blue, but would have gotten this if it was available.
It does look nice. My S9 plus was supposed to come today but it didn’t show up. The Carrier tracking hasn’t been updated for about 18 hours so I’m hoping it will come tomorrow.

Edit: just had a look at the tracking and it’s reached the next stop. It’s got to go to my local depot next and then hopefully out for delivery tomorrow.

Maybe it is the lighting but that looks more like a copper, then a gold. I wonder what colors the note 9 will come in. I wish they would bring back emerald green, or do a Ruby red.

These pastels from the past few years are lackluster IMO.
