The OnePlus 13 has just launched in China, globally later with a Snapdragon Elite chip plus a 6000mah battery. Plus the latest BOE screen & IP69 protection. They really seem to be gunning for the Ultra especially as I suspect it will be cheaper judging by the Chinese prices.

My first Samsung phone was S10+. It is a pity I had to sell it because I didn’t get used to curved screen, I could not even type a message and everyone I communicated with got tired with my constant audio messages. But the camera, it blew any of the iPhone generations out of the water and especially the camera of my current iPhone 11 Pro which since iOS 17 is unusable in terms of camera that produces very muted and blurred results unless its RAW/Halide zero process.

After 16 was revealed I am pretty sure I am ready to jump ship again and go with s25. I have seen few examples of how s24 shoots and I don’t really understand bloggers who are trashing it and telling Pixel or iPhone does better, whytho? Not sure. Also features such as 8K recording make it much more interesting than any other phone.

I expect Samsung to add removable battery in s25-s27, they have no choice since EU is expecting it by 2027. Also I hope SD Elite rumors across all global models are true. The only thing it will be lacking comparing to my old S10+ is SD card, I love SD cards and its a pity they did such an un-Samsung move and limited storage to internal. Hopefully with USB C it would not be a problem to make backups with USB thumb drives

I'm talking about the past 3 or 4 years. Samsung has been releasing nothing upgrades with oudated sensors, no change to battery size, same battery speeds.

Samsung have simply stopped caring what improving their products.

Apple are Apple they will always be slow in adding features. They have at least added more in recent years from hardware features to better software features

Samsung are still trying to figure out how to get animations right after how many years.

Samsung have run out of ideas so much they have tried to make air pods pro and Apple watch ultra clones. That says it all where Samsung are in their mindset. Hense why there is unrest in Samsung headquarters about why they copied the design

And look what's set for 2025? New design with same outdated sensors yet again and trying to be thinner and lighter

Meanwhile Chinese brands the Android phones which are actually innovating bringing out 6,000 mah batteries and even bigger sensors

When it comes to foldables? Samsung created the damn things and now they have stopped caring about them as well as others have come in and are simply making better foldables while Samsung are again just releasing the same product year on year and depending on software

Some people clearly think its acceptable but for what they cost it's not. Samsung are not Apple where they think they can compete with them when they can't.

Apple are well known for nothing updates year on year but as I said Apple have nothing competing with them as nobody else runs IOS

Why do you think Samsung are releasing a z fold in China and Korea? Because they are losing money and sales there as simply better devices to choose from over there

So are Android destroying Apple overall with what they bring out? Yes easily

Are Samsung? No as Samsung are just doing what Apple are doing with less marketing and less interest

There is no hate from me about Samsung all what I've said are facts in regards to what Samsung aren't doing

I want Samsung to be great again it's certainly not hating. If people keep accepting what Samsung are doing then we won't see improvements. Same goes for Apple btw

This isn't a praising Apple post far from it. While Apple have added more recently both aren't doing enough to improve and are both releasing the same stuff year on year

I couldn't go iPhone only for a reason as other android phones are offering far more and destroying apple in so many areas.
Apple unfortunately does the same – same 12/48mp sensor with tons of noise and AI trickery on top. They just renamed it to “Fusion” camera.

Apple definitely has “Emily in Paris” kind of PR agency working for them, but it is now looking pretty much satirical in how they are trying to market nothingrades as something revolutionary. Pretty sure in RAW mode one cannot tell the difference between 14 and 16 (and probably 17 too, doubt they will change the sensor).

I am also interested in better sensors like that one 1/0.98 from Sharp Aquos R9, but I guess it will take much more time. Hoping for a better s25 tho, maybe they will upgrade camera finally

I’m surprised there’s not much discussion surrounding OneUI 7 among this thread… this is supposedly the biggest One UI update since the introduction of it.

Plenty of changes are being made… evident by the fact it’s being delayed. I’m really excited about seeing it on the Galaxy Fold… but highly doubt I see it this year. At this point… Samsung is focused on beta testing on the S24 and S23 series, but I do think that they are really putting a lot of time into the S25 series for OneUI 7.

I've been debating if I wanted to make an Android Software type thread for this forum. Everything is hardware based, but maybe having something about software and posting news articles and the like would be beneficial.

If this video is correct it looks like Samsung have picked up all the worst habits from Apple, and letting other companies surpass them hardware wise. Fancy not even giving you expensive flagship phone the latest screen that you’ve given to other companies like Apple & Google. Or the differentiation of chips globally outside of the US again, and yet again no camera upgrades on the two non-ultra models.

If that is true then it wont be worth the upgrade for me, from my S24 Ultra. I may even be tempted to trade it it towards the Pixel 10 later next year when Google announce it. Google seem to be doing better and more of a challenger to Apple.

Let alone all the Chinese OEMs who seem to be making inroads into the UK market. I’ve had a OnePlus device for years and that’s been rock solid hardware wise.

People are saying Samsung are costing costs due to the price of snapdragon 8 elite. Cost will be high

they have the M14 panel but use M13 panel they also have the HP9 200mp telephoto 1/1.14 inch sensor but don’t use it even though it’s incredibly good. I have it on my vivo 100 ultra and it’s a game changer

Samsung just choose not to out their best in their phones as they will sell well enough so why put better hardware when people will buy it anyway as it’s available every where

The S25 Ultra is shaping up to be a BEAST and One UI 7 is going to be a game changer software wise.
I can't wait for the beta invitations to rollout for One UI 7.

How? it looks the same as the S24 Ultra, except for the edges and camera rings, the rumours are that the camera themselves wont even change much. One UI 7 might be a great upgrade tho, but that will be available on the S24 Ultra.

The Slim version might just be the only most significant going by the rumours

The processing power will be better with the SD elite The camera hardware will be similar, but that doesn't always tell the story. That doesn't mean it wont be better.Look at what Goigle does with not top of the line hardware. Then the videos I watched said the 25 will come with One UI 7.1 with some specific software features. Then the rounder edges and flat sides are a game changer for me.

But it’s a mobile phone, there’s a point where more power is pointless. It’s like the iPhones, every year they brag about the power, which is great when it’s a Mac, but an iPhone doesn’t need it.

I hope we see something great from Samsung with the S25 range, if not I’ll just stick with my S24 Ultra which has been a great 2nd phone.

I have to disagree with you on this. There a greater need for more processing power with AI. The more AI is integrated into the hardware and software there is a greater need for more processing power.
If you have no need for AI then stick to last years phone.
But just so you know AI and all it brings and needs is the future for smartphones and most electronics.
Also AI integration means more than just a digital assistant or photo editing.

Then for Smart Phones....the more on device AI there is...the more processing power is needed.

Quick Google search for "why do phones need more processing power for AI"

Phones need more processing power for AI because artificial intelligence algorithms require significant computational power to analyze large amounts of data in real-time, performing complex calculations like image recognition, natural language processing, and prediction, which can only be achieved with advanced processors on a phone, especially when aiming for smooth on-device functionality without relying heavily on cloud servers.

Good point about AI needing more power, it really depends on what new AI features Samsung will announce, there are already quite a few that i can use on my S24 Ultra.

I hope that Samsung goes back to be as bold as they use to be, new form factors, new innovation. At the moment it seems like they are copying Apple and playing it safe. That‘s the reason I didn’t upgrade my iPhone this year, simply because all Apple did was include a capture button, new processor and better battery. My iPhone 15 Pro Max is still just as good. I was hoping we would see Samsung do something different with the S25 Ultra.

You make some great points!
I upgraded from the 15PM to the 16PM..only because I have had every iPhone since day one and really not going to change that now. I have to agree with you on Samsung playing it safe with the S25U to a point. But they are rounding the corners and the flat sides. Even with that small change a lot of people on other forums are complaining about that.
I would love to see Samsung add Face Unlock similar to Apple's FaceID. Maybe have a model without the S-Pen but with a bigger battery?

Samsung Definitely need a better face unlock

I agree, I would love to see Samsung improve Face unlock, if it was as good as on my iPhone that would be great.

To be fair I did see that Samsung may announce a rollable phone at some point in 2025. Maybe that will be their innovation? Just not with the S25 lineup.

Help me out here people.. face unlock is just a secondary option because it has an under display fingerprint scanner which doesn't exist on the iPhone.

It would be different if there wasn't a fingerprint scanner, and Samsung relied only on face unlock.

But it still exists, some people such as myself prefer Face ID over finger printing.
