Nothing new lately. I was seeing a few updates every day, and now I haven’t seen anything new in a while.

My guess: a bunch of apps got rejected for not having Sign In With Apple and developers have had to go back and add it to get their App Store submission passed. I’ve seen some developers on Twitter complaining that their app got rejected for not having it.

How are these people developers and don’t know the rules that have been talked about for over a year and even had the deadline delayed?

ESPN has removed all social sign ins.

Apps that do this to avoid adding Sign In With Apple are really telling on themselves. I’ll make a note of never getting an account associated with any of these companies.

Don't blame the developers. They've probably been yelling about this for months. Blame management.

I was referring to independent developers who own and run their apps and are complaining on Twitter that their app got rejected when they had a year to implement Sign In With Apple.

I’m sure devs in bigger companies have been bugging their higher ups to prioritize it.

Almost all the ones still outstanding are big name apps.

LinkedIn has removed Google sign in from their app to avoid having to comply with the mandatory Sign In With Apple.

App vs website:

A bunch of sites have now added Sign In With Apple on the web:

  • Any.do
  • ASOS
  • Blizzard
  • Calm
  • The Guardian
  • Kickstarter
  • Soundcloud
  • Yummly
It's nice that as you go around the web we're starting to see Sign In With Apple everywhere alongside the ubiquitous Facebook login.

Wix has added Sign In With Apple but has made it a dead end that is unusable.

- Sign In With Apple is available only on the Wix app, not on their website.
- The Wix app doesn’t do much unless you buy a plan. But you can’t buy a plan on the app because Wix doesn’t want to give Apple their 30%.
- So you go on the site to buy a plan but you can’t Sign In with Apple. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Developers are really twisting themselves into a pretzel to avoid App Store policies.

I don’t judge if developers choose to forego social sign ins all together, but I don’t approve of these kind of sneaky practices. Is there a way to report them to Apple? Would that do any good?

Anyone know why MacRumors is on the list? They don’t currently have an app so surely they’re not required to have a SIWA.

@arn - did I miss something?

If i understood him correctly, it is partially set up but, hasn’t been fully implemented, as he was waiting to see what happened with the iOS 14 announcement.

I'd like to know too. There's an @appStore on Twitter but they don't seem to be answering users. Perhaps something in the Support app?

Wow. So OpenTable just updated. No Sign In With Apple 🤦🏼‍♂️

I guess they’re not strictly enforcing it? I’ve found a bunch of developers on Twitter complaining that their app got rejected for not having it, yet Apple itself (Shazam) and OpenTable update their apps past the deadline without it? What’s going on?

EDIT: Gaia GPS too! Just like OpenTable, this app has a Facebook sign in and was updated after the deadline and did not add Sign In With Apple.

EDIT 2: I went into the change logs for these apps and these are bug fixes. Looks like this is related to Apple’s pledge to not reject updates for bug fixes even if App Store guidelines aren’t being followed.
This essentially takes away the pressure for apps to add Sign In With Apple. It’s not often that apps get updated with new features, most app updates are for bug fixes.

Pinterest fixed their missing Sign In With Apple at first launch. It still doesn’t allow you to hide your email however.

CBC Gem now supports Sign In With Apple. This is a good one for us canucks. I often had trouble with their authentication systems. It was a mess. Sign In With Apple finally fixes that. Sign up was completely painless. This is why I love Sign In With Apple.

VSCO has added Sign In With Apple

I’m pleasantly surprised that they’ve hidden Facebook and Google behind a “More Options” button.
