I'd prefer if the application ran in the top menu bar in Mac OS X so that I don't have to have an application running in the dock for no reason.

Uhm did you look in the Preferences at all? Under computer, check Run Simplify Media in menu bar instead of dock and you're golden!

wow.. just because the both stream music doesnt make them the same app.. they arent even CLOSE!! thats lke saying that this is just like my FM radio! it still plays music as long as it is turned on and tuned in...

Its NOTHING like Pandora. its your OWN music.. and shared music from friends.

for all of you having issues.. check your itunes sharing preferences.. make sure you are allowing sharing. I had NO issues connecting to my rather large library.

Settle down there Beavis. You might want to start quoting folks you are actually meaning to reply to...

Anyways, actually whether you own the music or Pandora does, it's the "same". It's streamed over a wireless connection technology from a file residing on another computer. With that said, I never said they were the same app, they are not. However the underlying technology is similar and I've seen similar behavior as the user using Simplify as when I use Pandora.

BTW, this is NOT the same as FM radio. :)

Same here. They really need to work on that as its an annoyance to have it in the dock serving no purpose (really).

Go into the preferences and change it so it runs menu bar instead of the dock.

This is an option in the preferences in Leopard, but not in Tiger. Must be some difference in how those menubar apps work between the two OS.

Anybody else only streaming a small portion? All I have is 256 songs (948mb)?

EDIT: Nevermind. Number of songs grows over time.

Mine started off real small. Give it time to build up. Mine took a few minutes before it started showing all my files.

Also, as a side note. This app ROCKS!! I'm listening to some good stuff that I never heard of before thanks to those who are sharing their music!

well i got it to show up on my phone and it's working but it's only showing 253 songs as my whole library. Where are the other 25683 songs? It only syncd a portion of my library.

Edit: I see now that it's up to 500 songs syncd...it's just going very slow

mine did the same exact thing but it stopped at 5,000+.. what did you do to keep searching for the rest?

Tried this app out. Seems to work fairly good, but I don't think its that much of a great alternative to having your music actually on the iphone. First of all you need a fairly good connection to stream the music, second it seems to make my iphone hot while its working, and third I'm sure it kills the battery ALOT faster than just listening to music on the iphone through the ipod function.

I do like how it loads the band bio and lyrics, BUT there seems to be a bug where you can't scroll down those pages.

Not true!!! I just walked the dog and listened to some of lyndsay's library on EDGE with only two bars...I still own a classic and it did not miss a beat. You need to test things out before you speak, because mine is rockin and the battery won't drain cause of screen use, just buffering....and even then it only buffers current song and starts on the next.

Enjoy it!!!

Agree on the Bug for lyrics...same happened to me

i just tested this, and when i force the computer to sleep the phone won't connect .. but if i let the computer go to sleep on its own, the phone can connect.

not sure why this is happening, but that's how it is working for me with "allow computer to sleep while connected" enabled.

Going to test the "allow the computer to sleep" function overnight here...

Anyone else having a problem finding this in the APP Store now? Did we get "netshared" again?

i find once you enable the "let program work while sleeping" if you let the computer fall asleep on its own it will continue to work, aswell as useing a hot screen corner.

if at any time during these i shut my lid.. it does NOT work!

so you can let it sleep, but you can not shut the cpu.. that sucks because my cats LOVE to surf the net when i leave the computer opened... they managed to purchase a $900 digital camera and got it shipped to the right place, even put in the right credit card number.. or atleast thats what my husband told me when the camera showed up at the house

It's still there, just not showing up in searches yet for some reason. (I think it's not "officially" on there yet). Go to the direct iTunes link found on the first page of this thread, and you'll be able to get to it.

Also, it's currently #22 in top free apps. Pretty good for something that's so far word of mouth only!!

Noob question:
I'm guessing I have to have Simplify Media running on my desktop in order to connect from my iPhone?

Sorry, too lazy to read through all the posts.
