^Except that it is IMAP only, which for some is a huge limitation.
The new update for the Mac version just included POP support so I don't think it's too far of a stretch to think it would be implemented in a future update for iOS.

That's all good and well but still no point for me to use it, and actually when I wrote that post I meant the limitation is the lack of Exchange, not POP.

It is a great app, just not a Mail app replacement yet... at least not for everyone.

Sparrow +

Ok anyone able to get the repo or is it down for everyone?

Anyone have the latest Sparrow+ deb file or know a repo that has it?

Seems Freeman repo is down.....

So no change to get the latest Sparrow+ until he finished his exam?

Looks like it. He's not in a hurry to get it done but he is in school still. Taking exams suck. More power to him.

Oh heh, that's good to hear. I was worried for a second, I'm so used to Sparrow now. :x I hate exams.

I'm so used to Sparrow it hurts. Love it. Yeah, I've had exams myself for the past few days. I"ll be glad when this summer class is over with. History is not my strong suit.

Amen, the basic mail app needs to steal some ideas :x. As for school, basic Math is my kryptonite lol.. Algebra especially. Yet Calculus and Geometry are no issue. It baffles most my math professors and myself that almost nothing in that area really sticks. >__<

It looks like he completely pulled his repo source from Cydia.

I don't understand why he just can't upload the latest version of Sparrow+ to another repo until he finishes his exams and updates it?

Its clear the dev dosent want to share his work at the moment, he must have his reasons,

I've been thinking about this... There could be a real possibility that Sparrow has contacted him and asked him to pull Sparrow+ since Sparrow is working on their own paid push service. Don't know why his whole repo would go away, but that could be why he pulled Sparrow+.

Well I got tired of waiting. I dumped Sparrow Mail & Sparrow+ last night and returned to stock email and a Cydia app called Mail Enhancer Pro (updated this morning). It is a paid app, not free FYI.

Basically it's what the email app in iPhone should have been 'out of the box' and you get many, many customization options along with a feature called "Quiet Hours" which silences any incoming new email during your specified time (perfect for work meeting and sleeping time).

Also since the Sparrow Mail app had to be running in the application switcher background all-the-time in order for Sparrow+ to "push" any new mail....I've noticed that my battery life has noticeably improved since removing both those apps.

Another added bonus is I now get my emails displayed once again in my LockInfo LS. Couldn't be happier.

Sparrow and the Sparrow+ developer dropped the ball IMO. Oh well, I've moved along. I'm sure others will as well.

Anyone with the latest updated DEB File??

Hey Does Anyone Have The Latest Updated DEB File? The Ones On The Other Repos Are Way Outdated.

Push with native Mail app, reading with Sparrow

Because of the lack of pull or push functionality within Sparrow I setup Push within the Apple Mail app and turned off any notifications except of one in the status bar with OpenNotifier. So I will get a status bar icon and a sound when getting new mail pushed. To read, reply and compose I then use Sparrow. A little bit complicated and far away from a perfect solution.

But the Apple Mail app is no alternative for me, even with Mail Enhancer Pro. I am having lots of folders on my mailserver and it is a pain scrolling them down in order to reach the "Sent" folder. If Apple or any Cydia App will offer a solution for folder shortcuts or hiding folders the native mail app could be an alternative for me too.

He has to take test, I would hope that his future and schooling would mean more than Sparrow+. You almost sound as if he owes this free Cydia app to us. <__< Who knows, perhaps something is lost in translation over the internet.
Back on topic, while I like the default mail app. The styling has become a bit stale, nothing has really changed, since OS 1.x. Apples fairly well known for "borrowing," app ideas though.

If you backed up your older copy of Sparrow 1.2 (which it seems iTunes did for me since I never sync my phone) then you can still use Sparrow+ from the BigBoss repo.

I simply refuse to use the standard mail app after playing with Sparrow :)

Developer tweeted today that the new version will be released on 6/24 and it will be compatible with Sparrow 1.3.
