You know (IIRC), if Riker had just ordered Worf to the security system to attack the borg cube instead of making jokes about his little ship (why was he in the mood to joke around anyway, as thousands of federation beings were being murdered), they never would have had to go back in time.

Eh, why let such high stakes as life and death or even planet-wide genocide get in the way of a humorous dig at someone else’s expense?

I’ve never wanted a tattoo in my life but this quoted post put into my mind one I should consider:

WWDD (What would Data do).

Edit to add: thanks for your post... glad to put a smile on ANYone’s face. Lately, this era of Star Trek with its inherent striving for dignity has become a refuge.

That poem always makes me think of the "Positronic Pimp" track from Futuristic Sex Robotz.

File under: pure speculation...

“Under the new pact, [Alex] Kurtzman will serve as the Star Trek: Discovery's lone showrunner after taking over from Aaron Harberts and Gretchen Berg, who were recently fired from the series. Kurtzman will also expand the Star Trek franchise for the small screen, developing new series, miniseries and other content, including animation.

“The new deal comes as rumblings about another Star Trek series, featuring Patrick Stewart reprising his role as Star Trek: The Next Generation's Capt. Jean-Luc Picard, have been getting louder. Sources say Kurtzman and Akiva Goldsman, who left Discovery after season one, are attached to the Stewart-led reboot. CBS TV Studios declined to confirm the Stewart project as sources say a deal is far from completed and may not happen despite the fact that the actor recently teased his potential return to the franchise.”

Source: The Hollywood Reporter

Stewart was also enthusiastic about returning to Trek earlier this year if Tarantino were to direct, so there’s a lot of fog around this story. Remember not to believe everything you’re told:

Not sure I need a post on FB to tell me when Best of Both Worlds aired - for I recall watching it at the time.
I certainly didn't remember that it aired on that date and year, esp. when I couldn't watch it that day due to being on vacation and user error with a VCR. I programmed my VCR to record some shows and set my VCR to the wrong speed (used SP instead of EP/SLP) so that tape was full before it got to record the ep.

A friend told me roughly what happened and I had to wait 3 months to watch BOBW parts 1 and 2 together. I certainly don't remember off the top of my head the date that BOBW part 2 aired.
Likewise, why don't you actually post what you posted in those other threads, here?
I hadn't known about this thread. I posted about it at https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...o-cbs-all-access.1974544/page-6#post-26162810 since that seemed to be the ST: D thread.

Well, it was an absolutely brilliant set of episodes; loved them at the time, and I imagine that i would still enjoy watching them years later.

I had forgotten Commander Data's poetry: That is brilliant and - yes - did put a grin on my face. Thank you, @IronWaffle for sharing this.

And I have always loved the scene where Lt Worf requests of the alien pianist in the dodgy space bar that she play some Klingon opera, and when she replies that she doesn't get much demand for this, and may be a little rusty, he becomes emotional and gets quite carried away, singing along in a ferocious baritone once she starts playing.

Ah yes, Gambit. I enjoyed these episodes quite a bit. It was late in the series, and I think everyone was having a bit of fun with some of those scenes.

I got the sense that by this stage of the series, what we had here was an ensemble cast, comfortable with one another, comfortable with the overall series, and exceedingly comfortable inhabiting their respective characters' respective skins by then; this meant they could add further layers to the character and have some fun doing so.

Thus, it added to Worf's character that he loved (this wonderfully awful) dramatic, probably sanguinary and undoubtedly tragic opera - and revelled in it as part of his Klingon heritage, and this was entirely believable and nuanced (and very funny) and added to our understanding of his character, rather than detracting from the supposed warrior ethos of the character.

If the content of Klingon opera is anything like Cardassian literature, no wonder “people” spend so much time in holosuites...

Patrick Stewart may be beamed back for another Star Trek series.

Sir Patrick, 77, is “close to securing a deal” to return as Captain Jean-Luc Picard for a reboot of the Generation series.

The star is keen to reprise his most famous part – and deals are close to being struck, says a TV source.

CBS is working on projects to expand their Trekkie universe after the mammoth success of the Star Trek: Discovery series on Netflix.

The show’s co-creator Alex Kurtzman has a five-year contract to forge new adventures for the small screen. And his team has spoken to Sir Patrick about returning as Picard to helm the Enterprise for run or even longer.

An LA source said: “Patrick is looking pretty good to get back on board the Enterprise. There are some aspects of the deal to be finalised, but there is a verbal commitment from all parties.”

He said: “There are animated series also in the works, and Patrick could easily lend his voice to them.

Interesting to see Patrick Stewart is still in the mix. :)

I don’t think Discovery is on Netflix, is it? What was the final verdict on Discovery? ...a huge hit or ehh? Is it worth paying $10 for a 1 month subscription to watch?

It's not, and given it's such a value to CBS, I think they'll keep it exclusive to their platform (in the very near future at least).

Some quotes from various sources:

Wikipedia
Star Trek: Discovery premiered on September 19, 2017, at ArcLight Hollywood, before debuting on CBS and CBS All Access on September 24. The rest of the 15-episode first season was streamed weekly on All Access. The series' release led to record subscriptions for All Access, and positive reviews from critics who highlighted Martin-Green's performance. A second season was ordered in October 2017.

Digital Trends
It had a rocky beginning, but Star Trek: Discovery ended its first season as a critical and commercial success for streaming platform CBS All-Access. To the delight of fans, the show received an official “Make it so” on season 2, ensuring that the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery will have more adventures among the stars.

Vulture (Season 1 final review)
I thought Star Trek: Discovery delivered the strongest first season overall since the original series, which premiered on NBC almost 52 years ago, and that, on evidence of this first run of episodes, it could be one of the all-time greats if it plays its cards right. At its best, Discovery surprised and moved me in ways that very few freshman series manage to do. This show has brains, soul, and a big heart. There were missteps here and there, to be sure. But there always are in first seasons, and the ones seen here were minor compared to, say, those of The Next Generation, which became a classic eventually, but was tedious and hesitant until pretty deep into season two.

I'll add my own, I think it's terrific - BTW, you can do "limited commercials" for $5.99, since it's a TV show it's edited around planned breaks, so it hasn't bother me much.

Also you could do the 7 day free trial, and basically watch the entire series :)
