It had some jokes, but I'm sure if I rewatch the series in 10 years I'll skip most of this episode.

Why should they? One has lived his live in the past the other is now a surrogate Borg-Queen.

I knew Rios would be gone, but I thought Jurati might be back as the Borg queen to help solve the mystery of that anomaly.

TIL that the actor who plays Hemmer on SNW, Bruce Horak is himself legally blind. Be careful about reading up on it as it might spoil something about SNW ep 9. Ep 9 was quite good.

BUMMER.

I guess that clears the path for Scotty to come on board?

I thoroughly enjoyed Strange New Worlds. Looking forward to season 2.

Unfortunately, not until 2023. I miss the old days of TV, where they shot 22 or 26 episodes, depending on whether it was a half hour or full hour show, took the summer off, then right back at it in the fall. Network TV still does this, but not streaming stuff.

Now, everything is year long waits for shorter and shorter seasons. That 22/26 dropped to 13, now it's down to 10. New episodes of Rick and Morty and South Park are timed by decades now it seems.

Finished season 3 of ENT. They really stepped up the game for this one, and it was a joy to watch, with good episodes across the board. A nice coherent over arching story that S2 really lacked, and it ends with the biggest cliffhanger in ST history, so what is not to like? :)

I agree. I throughly enjoyed ENT. The characters were very good, and I cared about what happened to them from a plot standpoint. In particular, I loved the condescending attitude of the Vulcans toward the humans coupled with their fear that maybe this new space-faring species was going to overtake them someday.

Of course, the scenes with T'pol applying anti-bacterial jell in the decontamination chamber didn't hurt. But, Voyager was similarly unapologetic about appealing to male audiences with 7of9.

But Seven had a story arc and character progression. They didn't have a clue what to do with T'Pol.

Enterprise writers had no clue, full stop. They had only one good story arc--the Xindi/sphere builders.
They had such potential with the Temporal Cold War premise, but botch it.😑 Messerschmitts with disrupters/phasers being a threat to NX-01. Wut?! Prop planes with a top speed of 300-400mph ain't gonna keep pace with a vessel easily capable of mach 23 (velocity needed to break Earth orbit). It's like fitting an Browning M2 on canoes and thinking it can keep up a modern day patrol boat.
Anyhow, with the Temporal Cold War, they could have created yet another secret Federation organization responsible for protecting the timeline. They would be based in a pocket universe, eg. not affected by changes in the main universe. The head of the organization would be...wait for it... Wesley Crusher.😲 Not the nerdy, 98oz wimp from TNG, but a grizzled, greyhaired, one-eyed veteran. The other One-Eyed Giant (not Martok). They can even retcon Guinan as a special temporal agent assigned to keep an eye on Picard.😉 Oh the possibilities.😩

Well, I am probably biased, but I thought there was some good character development with T'Pol. She started off just like other condescending Vulcans, with the intent of serving on Enterprise for a few days. Earned the trust of the crew. Joined Star Fleet. Divorced her husband. Fell for a human (Trip). Got addicted to Trillium-D. Had a child with Trip. Learned how to lie and deceive like a human....but, also learned how to value humanity and individuality. As a result, made more and more decisions based on feelings rather than on pure logic.

Also, I don't think Jolene Blalock gets enough credit for playing that part. I think she was like 24 years old when they started shooting, and she sold the character as a Vulcan science officer that is much older and more experienced than the rest of the crew.

Season 1 of the original Perry Mason had 39 episodes, each 52 minutes long. Now, "hour-long" shows are only about 40 to 42 minutes long.

But with streaming, that trend is reversing. Shows like Strange New Worlds are over 50, since no commercials. The Orville is hitting over an hour per episode.

On streaming services with ads, there are times when the video mysteriously stops loading, most often during an ad. Then the user has no choice but to reload the browser and watch ads again before continuing from the last position. Sometimes I wonder if it's being done on purpose in order to extend the time that ads are displayed. Watching a show with these streaming "glitches" can take just as long, if not longer than watching it on broadcast TV.

I agree. As a side note, for those that didn't know, apparently she didn't like how her character was written:

Bummer.

Vulcans were kinda goofy in Enterprise, too emotional but at least they kinda explained it in at least one episode.

I will say that Seven's progression and development were better though.

I use the Paramount app on Apple TV to watch, and have the no-commercials plan. I've never had an issue.

This seems to be an on going problem with more than Enterprise when writers take liberties. Probably one of the oddest mixes was the Vulcan Ambassador that later befriends Enterprise was Vulcan in behavior as expected. However, the High Command on Vulcan that wanted to destroy that one group of Vulcans was led by a very emotional character that had outbursts. None of that really did well for story telling. In fact, seems the writers were just damn lazy to not think through a way to tell the same story without all the heated emotions. T'Pol was more a casualty if anything on the show... so many bad things happened to that one character (plus some suspect writing on the character itself). I liked T'Pol and thought Blalock did well given the nature of the scripts. As for SNW, I feel bad Spock was demoted to a puppy dog following his betrothed and every two seconds needs wisdom and an emotional boost from the engaging nurse.

Speaking of the engaging nurse, did you notice all the latest ST's have The Quirky Female Character? Tilly from Discovery, Jurati from Picard and know Chapel on SNW?

I am also concerned about their use of Number One, Someone pointed out that she only had something significant to do in half the episodes. The rest, she was just about a background character. They need to utilize her more, unless Rebeccs Romijn wanted less screen time.

Number One served her purpose already - by falling back on the uber human genetics stories, they made her stronger and smarter than Spock. They also of course suggested she was perhaps non-binary. Remember, the show tells the story of people aboard a vehicle Enterprise the enterprising writers use the show as a vehicle for their agenda. Welcome to the long drag into Discovery season 4.

Not this nonsense again. Women leads and LGBT+ people are here to stay. Get over it.
