I really wish they would let you choose what you want. I absolutely don’t want or need Apple Arcade and that comes with every version. Meanwhile I would really like Apple news and that only comes with the $30 a month version, most of which I won’t use.
Yep, same for me. While $20 doesn't seem a lot monthly, I have no intention to spend $240 a year on a service that I can get away needing it. I have LA Times and Wired magazine subscriptions and dropping them for News would be nice.
I'm hoping Apple down the road offers a ”build your own” family bundle for $20 with 1TB iCloud.

Been crunching the numbers and came up with this:

Costco is the best bet right? I don't want to get stuck with 30 months worth of device credits again. (I did 36 months on my XS — which i'd have to pay off in order for any of the above scenarios to work). I want the discount/rebate now so I have more flexibility next year or the year after.

The APPLE scenario includes their $150 extra credit. But their phones cost more and their trade in value is less.

I still want to see the Mini in person before making any moves. I imagine once the Mini and Pro Max launch, they will extend the promo for all new 4 phones.
Am I missing anything (besides tax)?
Does Costco offer trade-ins without tied to a carrier?
Update
Nevermind, I see, the difference you are not tied to the 30 month. Yeah, I might go that route.

Does anyone know when you trade in your old iPhone through the mail if you need to include the charging cable and power adapter?
Nope, just the phone. Make sure you turn off find my iphone first - then erase all content and settings before you send it back.

yeah id rather get slightly less on a trade in with an immediate payoff...rather than be stuck with 30 months worth of reimbursements.

that more or less makes a new 12 about half off, and id own it outright. that means if i wanted to update again next year, i imagine the trade in/resell value will be about what i paid for it.

So I got my iPhone 12 Pro thru TMobile and traded in my iPhone 11 for it. I mailed it back using the prepaid USPS shipping label they emailed to me and confirmed that they received it thru USPS tracking on 10/28. So how do I know when they will accept the trade in and when will get credit for it towards paying for the 12 Pro?

EDIT: I just got a text from Tmo saying they accepted credit for my phone, lol

Is the staff inspecting trade-ins knowledgeable enough to know when a phone has battery problems? My iPhone SE is in perfect working condition but doesn't last very long on battery power. To someone not knowledgeable with Apple's random shutdowns for aged battery issue they would think my phone is malfunctioning but in reality it's just the battery not holding as much of a charge as it did in "new" condition.

I'm concerned that if I mail it in and the staff isn't aware of this problem it'll get rejected (or valued as less) as malfunctioning when it's not the case at all.

Battery shouldn't be an issue as long as it fully powers on. "Good" condition as described by T-Mobile is "device powers on, no liquid or screen damage, locking features (like Find My iPhone) turned off."

I was told my phone with a cracked camera should qualify for the full credit. I'll see when I get the new phone and can turn this one in....

Well that's a bit of a relief. I guess I'll just wipe the phone, fully charge it, turn it off, and pack it up.

You should check your local Apple Store - they might get more inventory than ordering online.

That's what I did and never will pre-order.

Does anyone know if T-mobile stores have inventory? I tried calling one near me and never got an actual person on the phone. I wish there was a way to check online.

Got mine today. Original order window was 11/3 to 11/9.

I was surprised that I didn’t get a box to send back my trade ins. Is that normal?

I called a few Tmo stores in Utah and they said they still haven't gotten a single iPhone 12 Pro in the store. They said they are fulfilling the pre-orders/backorders first.

Just charged a few mins ago. 256 Pro Blue and 128 Pro Silver Same 10/10-10/16 dates.
I just had 128 Pro blue charged and shipping dates changed to 11/2-11/4. Still waiting on 256 Pro Blue and 128 Pro Sliver. All three had 11/10-11/16 as original ships dates and orders were placed on first day of pre-orders.

same here! its funny because I've been checking these blogs and i had no movement on my account when others had, so i was going to contact t-mobile when i received an alert that my card was charged. Since then, movement has been fast and woke up to an email to follow my delivery for today. I thought it was a dream lol This is the first time I ever pre-ordered my phone and did not receive it on launch day. I hope next year is better.

I'm looking to trade in my 8 plus for a new mini. Has anyone seen if T-Mobile will be offering the same offers for the mini as they were for the 12 and 12 pro? When I read the fine print on page 9 of this thread (link below) it mentions only the 12 and 12 pro. There's no mention of the mini or the 12 Pro Max.
T-Mobile offer

You will receive a separate box from UPS to send your trade in.

It has the return label and tape to seal it back.

Not surprised - mine was jerked around too.

I ended up getting the phone at the Apple Store locally - they had tons on launch day.

I sent back the unopened pre-order phone that arrived last week.
