You did not explain why. You only explained WHAT they do, not WHY they do that.

Companies do not release devices before their event day or their embargo because doing that would spoil of surprise and spoil the experience. That would therefore ruin the public impact, which would make some people less excited, and potentially reduce sales.

However event day was last week and embargo was lifted today. So there's no legal or business reason for consumers to not have the phone delivered in hand the day after embargo (tomorrow).

If you respond with "That is always what Apple does, and they do not allow people to have the device until 3 days after embargo" then that still does not explain why. That only explains what they are doing. No one seems to know why Apple waits 3 days after embargo to allow people to have the device in hand.

Samsung & OnePlus does not do this when you Pre Order a newly released phone from them. Once the embargo is lifted the phones are shipped as soon as possible and there's no instructions given to carriers to hold the package until a certain day.

Best I can tell, the business rationale is because Apple knows that the sheer hype of launch day drives revenue, regardless of embargo. Heck I don’t like it either; I’d love every year being able to get it earlier!

Apple is the king of marketing, quite literally. There is no hype machine like it, period. While we don’t possess the exact analytics I guarantee that they’ve got this down to maximize profit and the hype that drives it.

Yeah good point. They probably do have some sort of data or study or survey on how this 3 day wait period after embargo benefits them some how. Its definitely very strange though.

I ordered before 8am on the sprint site, t-mobile routed me there. My order still says pending and an estimated delivery of 9/28 - 10/5. I got **** on. I was one of the first to order, but I have to wait forever to receive it.

Ordered at 8am thru T-Mobile and have 9/28-10/05 dates too. What model, storage size, and color did you order?
 
My ship date was just updated on T-Mobile's website, from 09/24 - 09/27 to 09/22, not charged yet. For context order placed at 7:19 AM CST on Launch Date for iPhone 13 Pro Max Sierra Blue 256GB

Same with me, but I’ve had a charge pending since Saturday. EIP signed around 8:49 EST
 
My card was charged same day but this morning capital one says it fell off the card it was in a spouse‘s name should I be worried T-Mobile says not? And I have a tracking number

I would imagine that it's the same reason that movies or TV shows or music come out on specific days, despite us having seen trailers or singles. I'm not in that business, so I don't know what that reason is. The new Arkells album came out today despite already having 4 singles released for a few weeks. But today was the album launch date.

Most likely they just did an authorization before and they'll do an actual charge when they ship. The tracking numbers have been available just because they created a shipping label, they've yet to hand the orders to UPS. I'd imagine that will be happening starting today.

Your phone "is" coming to you. Take a deep breath and enjoy this time. After doing this for several years, while excited and often impatient, I have realized my phone will get here when it gets here, and I am not going to let it stress me out. Being settled in that resolution brings me peace and allows me to watch the forums and UPS site with childlike joy. Now where's my damn phone!! LOL

Ok my order says ships by 9/22 today so hopefully!

I have yet to receive a label via UPS My Choice. Ordered 13 PM 256GB Sierra Blue, order completed and confirmed at 7:01 AM CST, charged Saturday morning (still shows as pending charge). T-Mobile order status still says 9/24-9/27. In all my years pre-ordering with T-Mobile, this is the latest I've come without a label...If I still get mine on Friday I would be surprised due to the non-movement so far on my order. Crazy this time around for me.

Unfortunately they will ship when they ship can't make it go faster it all up to TMobile at this point.
They are probably so backed up with packing shipping and emails we will all get the devices on time but with very late notice.

You will still be good I pre-ordered 15 minutes early. Things will change today or tomorrow and shipping will reflect that too

Yea I started the order 15 minutes early as well, order confirmed at 7:01. Did you get a label yet?
