The "Delivered iPad" and Impressions Thread

Gahhh.... I'm so jealous of you all! :D Here in Europe we don't EVEN have an official release date! That sucks!

Could someone who installed MemStatus or an equivalent tell us how much RAM these iPad have ? Apple didn't communicate about that. It has at least 256MB, just like the latest iPhones, but hopefully more, like 512MB...

Just a guess,but since it uses the same OS it should just as an iPhone/iPod Touch.
 
Here on the other side of the pond we don't even know how much this sucker is going to cost us yet. So jealous right now.

On the plus side if it were launching here today as well as the US I honestly don't think my brain and heart would cope with the excitment of an iPad launch on the same day as the new series of Doctor Who with a new Doctor and a new leggy redheaded assistant.

I'm a geek and I'm pround of it.

Just wanted to say hi to another Apple fan in middle Tennessee! I'm in Westmoreland...twenty minutes on the "other" side of Gallatin. Lucky you, you know you're supposed to get Saturday delivery. Me...just a big question mark for the moment. :)

Oh...yes, I do believe the truck will stop even if you're inside the house. :D

What if your doorbell is broken and the UPS guy leaves it with the guy next door who keeps it for his own?

I was their first iPad customer,first in line, but I guess it doesn't matter when there is only a handful of people behind you LOL. Never the less it was a great experience. I'm happy to be typing my first post on macrumors using my Ipad.:)

FANTASTIC for traveling! How many times have you been in a hotel where you could barely find ONE available power outlet? Thanks to the Belkin adapter, I can power THREE 120v devices and TWO USB devices off a single power outlet.

If it's any consolation, mine was on that same flight to SAV from CAE and hasn't been delivered yet.
 
Relaxing outside with my iPad!

It's great, easy to use and type on! When it's in my lap its pretty easy to type on but its nice to be able to easily walk around with it. I have to get used to not resting my fingers on the home row! Already in love.
 
Some more first impressions: typing on it still very very awkward. Cut off the fingernails. Am a very fast touch typist with small hands. Suspect I will not be the only person to say this. Maybe there will be a learning curve.

My one converted test epub book is blank in iBook. Fine In other viewers. Will have to do some troubleshooting there.

Unit came almost fully charged.

iTunes by default tries to sync everything but movies.

Speaker quality is very very good! For so small. I am no audiophile but it sounds ridiculously better than my MacBook.

It's too heavy for me to hold in my left hand for any length of time. (small hands, female). going to try to scare up a kickstand case today.

Screen is bright and crisp and responsive.
 
Typing this from iPad. Keyboard is a little funky, but not too bad! Did not have any trouble syncing all my iPhone apps to the iPad.
 
The ups guy stopped by at 10:40am, huntersville NC while I was on the way home from Bestbuy looking for apple case. He called my cell, and I ask him to wait.

Anyway, i am typing on it now.
 
I got mine. iTunes offered to restore from my iPhone 3GS backup, so I'm giving that a try. I didn't expect to be given a choice to restore from the phone, so it was a nice surprise. iBooks looks impressive (I installed it before restoring). More later. I have to play now!
 
I was in line at the Greensboro, NC Friendly Center store at 8:30am for reserve pick-up of the 16GB model. It was a great experience, easy in and out. Picked up a case too. I'm excited! Just got home and syncing it now! Looks fantastic!

It's heavy!
I wish it had a slightly bigger screen!
Needs a longer cable!

Especially considering that the UPS tracking shows it traversed the Pacific in -1 days.


(I know, I know: international date line and all that, laugh please).
