Glad it just not me, I notice fewer bars compared to my mbp. Hopefully its something that can be fixed in software.

Other than that I love the iPad, its so speedy.

Now now now guys, the iPad is clearly better than your laptop, Steve said so. If you continue to spread your wifi lies, we're going to have to ban your accounts. You've been warned.

Repeat after me: "My wifi is so much better than my laptop. My wifi is so much better than my laptop. My wifi is so much better than my laptop. My wifi is so much better than my laptop."

Um, everything looks great so far. Still syncing so haven't tried out apps yet.

HOWEVER, the one thing I did notice, is that the wi-fi range is TERRIBLE!!! My iMac is showing full signal and fast speeds. The iPad, in the exact same spot, is showing 1 wifi bar, and browsing Youtube was SLOW!

I wonder if the 3G version will have a better wi-fi range because of the black piece of plastic?

No problem with WiFi (range) here. My iPad runs lightening fast and zooms along the Internet Highway. Maybe something is wrong with yours

Another really important thing to consider!!!
I know i am biased because i love the company apple and their
emphasis on design. However even with this bias the first 5-10 min
i was like "this is kind of cool not so sure about it" Than I went out came back
and used it for about an hour doing my normal surfing, emailing etc.
Thats when I got it! It really is like a whole new experience. Its different than a laptop because of the way its in your hand. The more I use it the more I like it !! I can see how people who go to the store and use it on a table for 5-10min will not be impressed. You really need to try it sitting down in your favorite chair and spend at least 30min with it.

That's just about it! It is different.
Way better than I imagined.
Love it.

I'm a Brit over in New York and decided to 'f*ck it!' and grab an iPad... and boy am I glad I did. The display is incredible and I'm finding typing pretty quick.

This might sound odd but for me one of the best features so far has been the Maps - they look incredible on the larger screen and it's all so crystal clear!

Anyway - just one query... When I try to access the App store, I get an error saying its not available in my country. Is this because I've signed in using my account which is UK registered? Is there any way to 'fool' iTunes into letting me access the App store?

If not, I guess I'll have to wait until this thing launches in the UK ...which hopefully shouldn't be too long?!

Anyway - VERY happy with the thing so far. Can't wait to watch BBC iPlayer on it when I make it home.

I like mine. Gonna be porting some games to it. But it's pretty nice to use and I can see me not needing a laptop really for the normal stuff.

Only complaint is that internet speeds seems to be kinda slow. Not sure what's up with that.

Finally got mine. UPS came at 6PM and he even asked for ID.

I had to call my local hub to find out for sure. Calling the 800 number they told me I wouldn't have it today. Local told me it was on the truck and they had two trucks in my area and to stay home that it would be there today. They deliver until all packages have been attempted for delivery. Even if that meant 9PM the lady told me at the local station.

By the way I typed this on my iPad.

EDIT: by the way i love it!!! TapTap for iPad is amazing.

Rocks!

after playing with it for 2 hours, it is nice and everything works as suppose to be... one happy customer :)

it does what it suppose to do, i miss the camera, might be nice for video chat.

Books are awesome
video are nice
have not played lots of game, might try some board games (i am in the 30+ group, not really a gamer)
Safari works nice

still have to spend more time with it, aluminum and weight plays nice when you wanted to leave like picture frame. btw, i got the 32GB version thinking books will take more space ...

one quick question, why cannot buy books from iTunes? some copy right issues?

Curious...

Probably does not work, as it does not work with the Touch or iPhone...

but can anybody who has an Airport express open up iTunes...

and see if it allows you to stream your music over wifi (airtunes) to your home speakers (like on a mac computer).

Probably not, but I don't have one so I cannot check. Maybe its a surprise that they are waiting for people to find!

Thankss.!

So here I am waiting in Australia..

YOU GUYS WITH YOUR iPADS ARE MAKING ME JEALOUS :(

anyway I'd like to see what an app looks like when it's not maximised. Anybody care to take a picture or something? :p

Thanks in advance

G4 and Mac OS 10.5

Which would be awesome except that once again, I use a G4 and Snow Leopard is Intel only.

Basically I'm screwed!

Why can't you update to Mac OS 10.5? I have a iBook G4 with 10.5.8 on it and it works fine. :/

Don't agree with the Haters

I've been reading peoples reviews of the iPad so far and I gotta say that some people who dislike it have it all wrong. I originally went in thinking that the iPad isn't worth it, but I had some extra money and decided to just treat myself.

I'm more than impressed. I'm typing this response right here and the keyboard is freaking crazy responsive especially once you get used to the keyboard (since it's not a full board and sometimes I hit return when I wanna do an apostrophe). But the thing is super fast and although I have a fairly new MacBook pro I don't see myself using it very often. I used it mainly to listen to music, browse the web and handle my email. The iPad does all that super well.

Its small form factor is just amazing. I use my laptop now and it feels almost clunky.

Now granted there are some issues but most of them can be resolved via software updates or someone just creating apps for certain situations.

What I'd like to see come to the iPad is:

- multitasking (obvious one)
- printing without using a third party app
- I'd def like to see flash implementation and apple can add a caveat that using flash hogs up the battery.
- adding up down left right arrows in the keyboard somehow (like right now scrolling up in this type window is a pain and would be faster and easier with the arrows)

But that's all I can really think of and can totally live without until they update it.

What I love:
- super fast system. I zip around apps so fast that multitasking ALMOST doesn't seem necessary
- the keyboard is far better than I thought (typing this so far I've had to make very few fixes and I'm typing really fast)
- the screen is gorgeous
- the speakers are far clearer than I thought they'd be
- the fact that it replaces most of the things I use a far more expensive system for

The iPad definitely has room for improvement in terms of software and hardware but this is an amazing start and I think most people who use it even for 5 minutes will get it.

Played with one at the 14th Street Apple store in NYC.
As of 7PM, they had "plenty" still in stock.

As has been said here over and over today, screen is amazing. Videos looked great, and the iPad as a whole is very fast. I'm not ready to buy though. A bigger screen just isn't enough for me to see the need for an iPhone and an iPad.

Obviously there's plenty of debate about that.

its not just a big iphone.

I got my iPad around 2:45. The UPS driver was just as excited as i was, he even took a picture of it. I really like it i cant wait till more apps come to iPad, the iphone version suck but the ones that fit the iPad really are cool. Everything looks really bright and clear and everything is really fast. The only thing i noticed is that i went into my front room I lost connection so i went back to my room and it came back, maybe its my WiFi but i heard someone having the same problem, no biggie. I see people on hear that don't own one and have never used one talking trash about it. Ive used it and its great in my opinion. Anyways Happy iPading :):):)

The keyboard is definitely an experience, not as bad as I thought it would be but it is definitely different.

Will post more later when I have apps on this thing!

Posted from my iPad. ;)

Home button

iPad is amazing!
What is the home button like one your iPad? Mine's not like the one on my iPhone at all. It's lighter to the touch and makes a really loud "snap" sound...
I expected it to be the same.

I noticed that too, it's so much easier to press than the one on my iPod.
