The giant "MMS is working in my area" thread

Weird

Sent a photo to a friend who's yet to upgrade. It went to his email! He also says that texts (SMS) from his sis sometimes go there.

Is that coming from the address book, or is ATT forwarding it?
 
MMS in Missouri

Th Carrier Update was made available in Missouri at NOON today. Takes about 3 seconds to update. Power the phone off and back on and that is it.
You will notice a camera icon BY the test line in your SMS message box.
Works fine but a little bit of a delay in sending high resolution photos. I sent to another AT&T user and a user on Verizon and everything worked well.
Thanks to At&T for joing the ranks of disposable phones and budget services. Next I hear they are working on a new technique called replaceable batteries.

It looks like Apple has allowed for a 1 minute (appx) clip to be compressed to that limitation. MMS hasn't changed much since it was introduced even though phone technologies have. Keep in mind when MMS was developed - screens on phones were small. And the processors inside weren't nearly as capable as they are now.

I guess you have a point. However, it's still disappointing nonetheless.

dallas, tx here (downtown dallas to be exact)... just checked iTunes and the carrier update was available... downloaded, rebooted phone and MMS is enabled.

iPhone 32GB 3GS, latest iTunes and iPhone software, non-jailbroken

Talk to Apple if you want replaceable batteries on the iPhone. AT&T has nothing to do with that.

+1. For the DFW area. Never got the message that it was available, but checked iTunes and the carrier update was there. Updated, rebooted, and I have MMS. Sent a bunny pic.
 
i just got off the phone with at&t/iphone support. the rep just told me that you need to update to 3.1 in order to have mms enabled on the phone. i refuse to do that cause my jailbreak is more important to me.
 
3.1 problems

I have a 3g and i am hearing all kinds of horror stories about upgrading to 3.1 software. A lot of phones getting bricked..... does anyone have the 3g with the 3.1 and mms running. I would like mms but i do not want to get 3.1 and end up with a brick. I see no work around for updating the carrier settings on 3.0.1 unless i jailbreak

I sent 2 pix to my son on Verizon ... one from a file and one from the camera. No prob - he received both immediately.

I am running a 3G with the 3.1 OS. MMS works fine ... no problems at all.

12:17pm Received Text Message on my 3gs at from AT&T saying SMS is available.

1:10pm Updated my iphone 3gs with carrier update on itunes.

1:15pm tried sending my first MMS with photo to fellow co-worker who has an iphone 3g and no go. He was still at 3.0

1:25pm Co-Worker Updated phone to 3.1 and took the carrier update with itunes.

1:27pm Tried sending SMS again

1:38pm Co-Worker has still not received any MMS message from me.

Update

1:50 Forgot to reboot Co-Workers phone after carrier update. Everything is working now and received SMS 20 seconds after it was sent with photo.

thx to savior1974 im up and running now

i have it up and going now on my 3G S running 3.0 jailbroken phone. and like an ass i have sent about 20+ random pictures to everyone. below is proof im mms'ing also here is the link to the OFFICIAL HOW TO MMS ON 3.0 3G/3GS thread.
