My Air (13/8/256)started winging its way from Shanghai only 48 hours after ordering, which I thought was fast for BTO. it got to Sydney but then: Delay due to congestion en route, recovery action underway.

Sounds dramatic ... what could it be ... What sort of recovery action could rescue my little Air from a traffic snarled truck in Sydney?

Helicopter? motorbike? Pony express? Marathon runner? Air-sniffing dog?

Just got my open box base 13" from best buy.. 839 with student discount. Such a bargain, I'm super happy about it. For the fact that getting 8gb ram would be 1239 with student discount from Apple, I'm saying $400 is worth 4gb of ram instead of 8gb :p

Apple released a small (3MBish) "firmware" update which enables the Power Nap feature on the MacBook Airs and rMBP shortly after Mountain Lion was released. It should show up as an update in the Mac App Store.

You'll know if it's installed if you have the Power Nap option in the Energy Saving Preference settings.

Thanks mate

My 13/8/256 Air just got delivered today, finally! Samsung SSD : ) I needed to do a firmware update over Mountain Lion, but loving it so far! Also forgot to calibrate but doing it now xD

I made the order on the 11th, and the estimate was going to be 22nd to 24th D: (I live in Canada, and chose standard free shipping). But China manufactured it pretty fast, and it was moving about even on Sunday. (The wait wasn't too bad since I was on a trip this past weekend :p )

I picked up my MBA 13/4/128 from a local reseller who had a $120 discount on all Apple products.

My old router gave me some issues and the MBA could not connect. Applecare was great and helped me change the protocols to b and g instead of n. I think I'll be at the Apple Store this weekend to get an Airport Extreme.

Great machine - got the LG screen, but used the profile posted in one of the posts to improve the colors - looks great.

Connection to my Western Digital NAS was seamless so now I can stream all my music via iTunes and back up using Timemachine. Very very happy, this is my first Apple Mac - not the last.

Thinking of giving this one to the kids in a couple of years and getting a rMBP and an iMac at the next refresh.

Also heading off Overseas soon, so I'll get the Tax back at the Airport - meaning the MBA costs me AUD$1118 - happy with that too

Reseller

What retailer was that?

I am in Australia. The reseller was the Good Guys. Another reseller here that gives reasonable discounts is JBHIFI where they have regular $100 or 10% off deals. I tend to get this information from this site:

http://www.macpricesaustralia.com.au/

Does your MBA come with ML already installed on it?

No, I just got the code via the free program and installed it from the App store.

That's what I was looking for!

I didn't want to buy one without ML because I'm so used to Windows upgrading software and making my computer/laptop slower. I know it shouldn't happen with Apple products, but the paranoia is still there I'm afraid.

I'm just curious, how long it it take to get to you? I live in England and I ordered mine last night (I see you're from Scotland ). It said expected 30th August, that's 8 days, I don't understand why it takes so long. I did order the 8gb RAM one but meh, I expected it faster :(

4GB vs 8GB of RAM

Hey,

I'm planning to get a baseline 13 inch :apple: Macbook Air, but im just not sure if 4 GB are enough for my need, and if it is worth the extra 130 dollars (Macmall)... I´ll basically use it for iWork, MS Office, very Light gamming, lots of web surfing and maybe running windows occasionally using a VM, and I plan to keep it for at least 3 to 4 years, so do you think that the upgrade is necessary?

I´m also considering a MacBook Pro, becuase of its "Upgradability", but i just cant justify spnding $1200 on a 1200x800 screen and a traditional 5400 RPM Hard-drive...

BTW: Sorry for my bad english :D

Thanks :apple: :apple: :apple:

I do all of that and am fine on 4GB.

Seriously, people here just recommend the highest config for everything.

If you have not ordered yet I would suggest trying to order through the Education store. You will even get the $100 Itunes card plus save a little bit on the hardware.

In Canada at least they do not even ask for your student number........

Ordered by CTO MBA 11' on Aug 12th with i7 2G Hz and 8GB RAM.

Shipment started on Aug 17th from Shanghai and arrived my place in Singapore on Aug 21th, which is the last day as promised by online store.

This is my first Mac! After using for a week, I'd say I really love it! :)

Just registered & just ordered: MacBook Air 13"/8/256 config that seems pretty popular (in the past few pages of this thread anyway).

It'll be a few days before it ships, but I'm pretty excited to see how far Apple has come since I retired my Mac mini G4 years ago. As a Windows user I was never able to quite get into using the Mac mini as my main system, but as the MBA will be a lot faster I hope this time I might like it better.

Ordered my MBA 13"/8gb RAM/128gb SSD on the 22nd of August, arrived today from China.
There's a tiny scratch on the bottom of it, but it's very small and hardly noticeable. I'm extremely happy with it.

I do have one question though, is the keyboard supposed to have the @ button on the 2?
I thought on the UK keyboards the @ button is near the enter key? And next to the '. I paid quite a bit for it, but if apple put in the wrong keyboard I want my money back! :D.

I'm not sure if this thread is supposed to be used for Q&A, but from what I can Google that does sound right:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keyboard_layout#UK_Apple_keyboard

I think if the pound sign is Shift-3 then you probably have a UK keyboard. If you had a completely different keyboard (like a US one) you wouldn't even have a pound sign anywhere.

I just got a mid-2011 11" i7 with the 256GB SSD from Micro Center for $999!

Freaking love this thing. Replaced a late-2008 MBP 15" 2.8ghz/8GB/256GB SSD.
