Watch the show that was made about UPS\FedEx... you'll get it. Humans don't touch the packages. And it's not like they have people sitting in Oakland to hand-pick through the hundreds of thousands of packages. People never see the big picture. They only sort in certain facilities... so it's more cost effective to not open a container full of 99.99% non-Oakland bound packages so it can get sorted and sent to Oakland from the hub.

The show on nat geo?

I saw it, they have planes and everything there don't they? It's amazing fully automated everything has it's own barcodes etc etc etc

Edit: typical now youve posted info on it and I look stupid :D

what's the fedex flight # from PVG to ANC? I see mine left shanghai, but i dunno the flight number and i don't see it on flight aware, just HKG and NRT

Anyone know the call sign or flight number for the flight from Anchorage to Fort Worth today? Seem's like mine and many others MBA has been sitting in Alaska for a while now.

It seems the factory in China can build the BTO machines very quickly, but Fedex or UPS is so slow to deliver.

Remember, just because you live in TX doesn't mean it'll go on the flight from ANC to TX... in fact, it's more likely that it'd go to MEMPHIS, then route to DFW, as backward as that seems. Watch the UPS\FEDEX "why we route as we do" nat geo special to see why... either way it won't affect the delivery regardless of MEMPHIS or DFW direct :)

How do you guys find out about upcoming flights, as opposed to airborne ones?

I'm particularly interested in ones leaving Memphis after the one from Anchorage arrives there.

Any information about the ups flight from shanghai to europe?

look it up :) flightaware.com

i know it's easier to just post here, but take some initiative. I'm not a travel agent so I'm not going to sit and look up flights for everyone all day. It'll take 2 mins if you go to the website and dig around.

I am sorry. But actually I searched that website for a while, but cannot find any information about their flights to europe, all i found were to/from the U.S..

There is no straight UPS flight from Shanghai to Europe... They work with hubs. The most probable route will be:

Shanghai - Anchorage - Louisville - Philadelphia - Cologne

The Shanghai - Anchorage flight is about to departure within 2 hours.

Search their website. It's quite simple.

Well, apparently I'm not smart enough, so after not being able to find it after 5 minutes, I posted the question. I just tried again without success. I only see "Live Tracking" and "Flight Planning" as viable options, neither of which works for me in listing future flights.

OK, i get it, thank you. They do it the other way around the earth.
