There is no straight UPS flight from Shanghai to Europe... They work with hubs. The most probable route will be:

Shanghai - Anchorage - Louisville - Philadelphia - Cologne

The Shanghai - Anchorage flight is about to departure within 2 hours.

Unlikely... the MOST probable would be SHANGHAI to COLOGNE, or SHANGHAI to DUBAI to COLOGNE... hopefully it doesn't crash like the 747-400 UPS last month from DUBAI TO COLOGNE, eek

One of the easier ways to look up Fedex timetables is to use the website that their pilots use to swap jumpseat rides. This is where I came up with the list of all outbound Fedex Anchorage flights from earlier today.

It won't give you routes, per se....but its better than guessing.

I think you are right. All my deliveries from asia to uk went from asia directly to cologne, de or east midlands, uk. But i still cannot find the flight info.

I did some research on the flightaware site and the coming days there are no flights from Shanghai to any of the places you mentioned. And my MacBookAir is now prepared for departure from Shanghai. Next UPS flight is to Anchorage.
So, your scheme is unlikely.

Using the Jumpseat route finder, I can come up with several options for FEDEX flights, but I don't know where to find similar information for UPS flights:

(PVG to MEM , MEM to CGN )

(PVG to ANC , ANC to MEM , MEM to CGN )

(PVG to MEM , MEM to CDG , CDG to CGN )

(PVG to DEL , DEL to CDG , CDG to CGN )

Actual legs shown below, all assume a Zulu departure of 10/26....I'd need specifics to narrow this further.

If you honestly think everything UPS does from China to Europe and the Middle East goes EAST through the Pacific, US, then across the Atlantic to Europe, then you're wrong.

:)

Just saw another update: Int'l shipment release

It's still due on 28th, I guess they are gonna take their time to bring down my MBA from AK to SF, CA...

I wouldn't be sure. We still haven't seen a complete list of Fedex flights departing AK today. Some have the magic key to find this info on flightaware, but they're not willing to share it with us mortals.

Well, maybe you are right... Maybe I am right... Anyway... We all still have to wait. Hahaha. Anyway, it is some nice time killing. ;)

Tomorrow, when I wake up, we'll see hopefully more. :)

I don't deal with Fedex, especially international shipments as much as other carriers.

Is it typical that Fedex shipments actually get delivered before the due date?

Cry me a river, lol. Several people have given several sources to other sites that make it SUPER EASY to find flights out of ANC (hint, the Fedex\UPS Jumpseat site)... another HINT, many flights leave early AM hours, so don't just put in today, put in TOMORROW as many flights leave early AM so won't show today since they've passed.

Either way, the information is almost utterly useless. They have 20-some flights a day to all different destinations and there's absolutely zero point in even trying to figure out their routing because their computer will route the same flow to a different destination to balance the load and has little to no bearing on the final destination of your package.

Rarely. In fact, international shipments can often go one day later than due date because of a customs clearance delay, especially common in ANCHORAGE.

In the past 6 months I've had about 20 packages come in from Asia via Fedex, and I'd say this is a good evaluation looking at the tracking report against their estimate at time of shipment:

EARLY: 3
ON TIME: 10
LATE: 7

This is from China\Philippines\Hong Kong\Japan to San Francisco, CA....

Remember there's generally a waiver on their delivery date guarantee because when it's late they just claim customs clearance took longer and it bypasses their guarantees, lol

Gotcha. Thanks for the insights. I guess "Int'l shipment release" doesn't mean much here. I just hope I can get my hands on the Air before the weekend...

The iPhone showed up a day earlier, so hopefully that's indication. It also took the same routing. And it even went Shanghai>Anchorage>Oakland>Memphis>Oakland then on a truck across the bay to SF... gotta love how they get things done :)

I'd say the longest hurdle (apple actually BUILDING and shipping it) is over, and now it's likely to come in plenty of time for the weekend :) I'll think good thoughts!

I'm so excited to finally have a laptop again :)

I'm usually tied to my desk using the mac pro in my sig for about 18 hours a day working on school work. (Yep, that intensive.) The macbook pro in my sig is on a long term loan to a friend who is working on a video game project with me so I don't have use of it so I can't go anywhere or travel since I will be away from my school work :(

Once this comes though I'm loading XCode, ZBrush, Corel Painter, and Unity on it and going on a beach trip!

....Maybe Maya, although Maya is quite screen hoggy and may not go well on a 13 inch. I had to use it on my 15 inch macbook pro for 3 days and it was horrible!

If previous posters are correct...

We should see FedEx flights take-off from Alaska in the next hour or so. If anyone sees a change in the tracking status, please post.

Fedex 22 ANC to MEM running 16 mins behind, now scheduled to depart in 13 mins.

Watch your scans!

Remaining outbound Fedex flights look to all be delayed by 15 mins as well.
