I just went from a MBP 13 2.26 to a 11.6 Ultimate Air. Loving it so far. Like so many others have said the only thing I may miss is the backlit keyboard. Now off to hunt for the perfect sleeve!

Just went out and bought the 13" base model at best buy. I would have went for 4gb of ram but I didn't want to wait and also thought it would be easier to sell next refresh.

Got my 13" Ultimate the other day and I couldn't be happier. Handing off my iMac to family member. This thing is sweet, hopefully next one will drop C2D and add longer battery.

Hi all. I ordered the 13" with 4 GB last Saturday evening with regular shipping (I'm in Chicago). My FedEx tracking originally had an estimated delivery date of 1/17 but was then pushed to the 18th because of the southeastern storm.

It arrived at the FedEx location in Memphis last night at 10:20pm local time which makes me wonder if it might get here a lot faster, maybe even tomorrow? The FedEx tracking info still shows a delivery date of 1/18 (next Tuesday) but if it arrived in Memphis Wednesday evening the week before, it's gotta get to Chicago sooner than that, I would think Or is there a chance that it will be held up in customs or something like that?

Mine arrived this afternoon. I got it delivered to work, where it got quite a bit of interest. I had a very brief play, all seems good so far.

Just picked up my 13" macbook air. Wow am I amazed!
This is coming from a windows user who has never in his life touched a mac.
To say the least I am glad I switched over.

I did a bit of an impulse buy and got the base line model from Best Buy. But hey, I only paid $86 out of my pocket for it and with that I can't complain :D.

However I would like to note that the first one I had picked up had a damaged display on boot.

Arrived yesterday!

Just got my 11.6" 1.4GHz 4GB RAM 128GB SSD yesterday afternoon. Spent most of the afternoon setting it up including using Setup Assistant to migrate all my settings, data, apps etc.. from SuperDuper clone from the MBP I just sold. It worked great (I knew it would) because the MBP was super stable and I tested the clone on the MBP prior to selling it.

Sweet little machine, quick startup, opens apps and large files well. Overall I'm pretty pleased!

I'll still use my iMac as my primary machine but this little guy is great for going places with.

It's the cheapest form of shipping possible. Think along the lines of booking the cheapest airplane tickets from Expedia or something - you're going to go through some funny connections and so on. It's filling up space to try and make uneconomical flights... economical.

Coincidentally, I purchased the same thing through edu on Friday, and it's due to arrive Tuesday by TNT. I wonder why.

Ordered MBA 13", 4GB RAM, 256 GB SSD

I ordered my MBA 13", 1.86 GHz C2D processor, 4 GB of RAM, and 256 GB SSD from MacMall on 1/14/11, and it's supposed to be delivered on 1/17/11 from FedEx around 10:30 am. I paid extra for overnight shipping. I have checked the FedEx website, and it was shipped from Nashville, Tennessee on 1/14/11 and it arrived in my home city of Seattle the following morning. I am looking forward to tomorrow morning to play around with it to make sure it works correctly. I cannot wait until it gets here.

I first ordered the MBA 13" with 2 GB of RAM, and 128 GB SSD last month, but I returned it since I kept thinking that 2 GB of RAM would not be enough.
Yet, I was impressed how well this laptop runs everything with great speeds at loading programs as well as the boot time.

I am planning to use it for college work such as word processing and spreadsheets. I also want to use it to play my music on iTunes as well as accessing the internet. I am also considering using Windows 7 on this laptop in case there isn't any apps the Mac does not have.

I want to use this laptop for quite long time. Who knows what technology will bring in the future? I am sure Apple is working on something great such as the new Macbook Pros with better capabilities than the present one they are currently selling.

After much hang wringing and vacilating, I finally ordered an 11.6 MBA base + 4GB.

Ordered at 8:30AM and it's already shipped (due to arrive Thursday). I thought CTOs took up to three days so this is awesome. I imagine the base + 4GB is popular enough that they might be stockpiling.

I recently just sold my telescope gear for the MacBook Air 13 base model. I felt kind of silly since I really wanted the 4 GB model but they did not have any in the store and I did not want to wait for it. But now that I am actually using it I am amazed at its speed. The flash drives really make a difference. The other nice benefit which I did not think it was capable of, is I am able run my simulation programs (Mathematica, MatLab, etc.) at the same speed as a MBP 2.4 4GB 13". That is impressive! Never again to windows.

Just ordered two 11.6" base MBAs. One for myself, and one for my wife. I've been using a 24" iMac and have been lusting over the 11.6" MBA since October. I'll be selling the iMac and using the MBA as my primary.

She's been using an old HP Pavilion Notebook for years. It's barely stayed alive all this time. The number of times I've wanted to throw that stupid thing out the window... This will be her first Mac, and we're both eagerly waiting for them to arrive! :D

Um, your using a 11.6" screen as your primary computer? o_O
Think you should've gone with the 13" one. :p

Got my 13" base model from amazon 3 days ago. It worked out to be less $$ than ordering with my educational discount directly from apple. I wanted 4gb of ram like everyone else, but got the 2gb so I could get it sooner. The great debate over CPU/RAM will continue, but i can honestly say: some times you just need a computer to work, and this one does. Fast.

I understand people saying they wanted their new laptop now but surely you could wait at most 7 days for the machine you really wanted? Don't get me wrong the wait would be agonising but to get what you really want, it must be worth it.

I'm just speculating but I predict quite a few "I got 2GB RAM and should have gotten 4" sometime in the future :D

I agree. I could have bought one in-store but I ordered a 4GB model online on Monday and received it yesterday.

What's 4 days (or more) to get a better spec'd model that has some memory overhead for future OS versions, better bootcamp performance, etc. Even casual gaming will benefit from the extra RAM since the 320m leeches 256MB off the top (moreso if you're doing that gaming in WIN7).

Is it necessary? Probably not. But if you're sacrificing the RAM just to have it earlier, I don't see the point. Maybe it's just me, but I know I'd regret it down the road.

Assuming you have a monitor to plug into, an 11 inch model could easily be a primary.

My sister is running an Air 11 connected to a Dell IPS monitor and Apple bluetooth keyboard. It's the full meal deal.

I had to wait 5 working days for my air to arrive, it was the ultimate so was BTO. Sure I could have just walked into a store and bought the higher base 13" but geting the one I wanted was worth the wait.

I just think with something like the Air and the RAM not being upgradeable you should bite the bullet and get the 4 (if you can afford it).

For everyone ordering BTO's, try MacMall. They are discounted almost the same as an educational discount on Apple.com and they have BTO's in stock. I bought a 13" w/ 4GB RAM last night around 6:00 PM with overnight shipping and had it this morning at 11:00 AM.
