I ordered the same configuration as you Wednesday morning and the status changed this morning to "prepared for shipment". I'm hoping I receive it by early next week. Once I receive the tracking information, I'll let you know the anticipated delivery date.

Got my 13" 1.8ghz 4gb air and after obsessing on this forum for a week and giving it a quick once over it looks like the one I received so far is flawless, no chips or scratches, no problems with the base rocking, nice flush hinge, screen has no keyboard marks (although I will use a glasses cloth to keep it that way) and everything runs great, screen resolution is great and I'm considering getting rid of my windows desktop its that good.

The best part is the software, there is nothing that comes close to Billings, Coda, Versions or Textmate on Windows, and pretty much every native mac app seems to be as well crafted as the unit itself.

You can probably tell it's my first Mac but so far it's been an incredible switch and overjoyed with the unit, for what I need I'm not noticing any significant speed reduction from my desktop (Phenom 965 X4, OS Drive: 60GB OCZ Vertex 2E SSDs, Radeon 5770, 8GB Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600Mhz) outside of gaming which is still impressive given this units specification, photoshop feels almost as quick, everything else IS just as quick.

Anyone with any doubts, unless you are a serious gamer this unit is very capable, very well built and a joy to use.

TL;DR - I got a macbook air 13", its awesome.

got the 13 inch ultimate yesterday.
the SSD in this is incredible, by far the best computer i've ever owned.
a warning for those getting the ultimate... it does get VERY hot, but solong as you don't mind the occasional loud fan every 20 minutes, then its superbly fast.

I waited until college grants paid for tuition and books this semester (Winter 2011) and ordered mine. 13.3" with 2.13Ghz C2D, 4Gb RAM, and 256Gb SSD, AppleCare Protection Plan and external Superdrive. Shipped price = $1,991.00 through school and grant $ paid for it (even better)! Received it 3 Tuesday's ago. Like it better than my early 2008 17" MacBook Pro with 2.6Ghz Penryn C2D.

Welcome to the forums!

It depends how you feel about space? Some users, myself included like to remove unwanted languages and PowerPC code to save some space. You can use apps such as Monolingual do this.

Just ordered

I just ordered the 13" 1.86ghz C2D with 128gb SSD and 4GB Ram with iWorks preinstalled. My first Mac. I waited for a few weeks for the Macbook Pro refresh and realized that I have no real need for a Pro, and that the Air would better suit my needs. Plus after all that Sandy Bridge stuff, I see that technology needs a bit of time to work out all the bugs, and I feel like the newest air has been out long enough to have worked those bugs out.

I started at the back of this thread, but I'm going to work my way forward because I saw some saying that they were obsessing over their MBA when it arrived for flaws. I will be very interested to see what I am looking for...

Also I plan to do a full battery drain and run Monolingual when I get it...

Received my refurbished 11" MBA 1.6/4/128 today. It looks brand new with no scuffs, dead pixels or any other physical anomalies.

It came installed with OS X 10.6.5 and I had problems with wifi dropping as I was trying to download the 10.6.6 update. I instead went ahead and installed the pending MBA airport update and a MBA firmware update and the wifi drops have stopped. Now I'm downloading the 10.6.6 combo update as I have always have better luck updating using the combo than through System Update.

First impressions: I'm struck by how small, compact and light the 11" MBA is, but yet how snappy and solid it feels. It is also more comfortable to type on in a sitting or reclining position than my 2.0 GHz C2D MB. It appears to run much cooler than my 2.0 GHz C2D MB as well. I'm downloading the 10.6.6 combo update and surfing the web with it laying on top of a comforter on my lap in bed and the bottom of the 11" MBA is just slightly warm.

If I have any criticism at this point it is that the screen is obviously a TN panel and not a IPS panel. The viewing angle is not horrible, but definitely not what you would find with an IPS panel. An IPS panel would have been nicer, but I'm sure it also would have increased the price a bit.

My next mission will be to find a good case that fits and protects the 11" MBA well, but also provides a small pocket to carry around my power supply, a USB NIC (in case I'm somewhere I can't get on wifi like in our datacenter), a mini-DP to DVI adapter and perhaps some thumb drives; without being too large of course. ;) If anyone has any cases in mind they can recommend that fit the bill please let me know.

Congrats on getting your Air. You’re kinda really like it when you travel and see everyone else lugging around those dinosaur laptops.

As for cases, just do a search in this forum. You’ll find all kinds of suggestions.

I just got one of these, so far I like it for exactly the reasons you mentioned.

Thanks for the recommendation. That case looks great. For $49 I would like to go see it in person before buying. Did you purchase it online or locally? I see it is backordered until 2/14/11 online. Must be really popular.

I bought it online based on what the site showed, you can easily find a 10% coupon for it. When I bought it it was also backordered but it showed up within 2 weeks of ordering via Fed Ex. The quality is excellent, however if you don't like it after ordering they will refund you no questions asked.

I did the express shipping on the build to order online and it took a few days. I ordered Tuesday night and got it the following Monday. I also added iWork preinstall which someone said is rumored to add more time? Not sure how true that is.

ordered

I ordered my 11" ultimate last night (and a refurb mbp 13" for the wife). Ordered direct from apple, using my corporate discount.

*editted* I cancelled the apple order for the MBA (kept the MBP order) and ordered from macmall instead (using the above link). Ships today, total cost lower due to no sales tax. Thanks!

I ordered my macbook air 13" 4GB 128SSD from Apple on Monday evening and they still have not processed the order and shipped. And I paid $14 for 2-3 day shipping. What a waste! Days to ship is 3-5 but I didn't think it would really take almost the whole time. Thinking of cancelling and ordering from Macmall with overnight shipping to have it tomorrow.
Apple sucks for being so slow to process. What's the benefit of getting from them over macmall.

Why don't you call them and ask for a refund on the shipping and then request that it be overnighted to you when it's shipped. If you do so politely there is a good chance they'll oblige you. Makes a lot more sense than canceling, reordering and complaining.

Ordered my MBA 13" Ultimate Refurb at 1 AM, and received tracking info in the morning! It'll get here tomorrow :D

Total was ~$1670 -- much cheaper than getting it brand new (CA tax for MacMall..arg!)
