This is my order, which I put in yesterday (3rd of febuary)

"Not yet shipped
Estimated Shipping: 5 business days
Estimated Delivery: 15 Feb, 2011 - 16 Feb, 2011
Product Qty.
MBAIR 13.3 CTO
Custom configured"

I ordered the maxed out 13" MBA. I have 2 questions:

1. What do you think the odds are that it will arrive a day or two earlier than estimated?

2. Will the courier (UPS or TNT I guess?) call me or sent me an email that states what time he most likely will be dropping off my packet on the day of delivery?

An update on mine: Ordered Monday Jan 31 evening and my status still says:
Not yet shipped
Shipping 3-5 days

So, yea, Apple takes their time.

I ordered a maxed out 11" MacBook Air from Apple. This was 4 days ago. It still wasn't even prepared for shipment as of this morning, so I decided to cancel it and order it from MacMall. They already have a maxed out one in stock, it'll get here more quickly, and I saved 100$ (even after Apple's student discount).

I just cancelled from Apple and ordered from Macmall. I got Saturday shipping and it was still cheaper from Macmall (even after gov't discount from Apple). Apple blew it.

Ordered my 13 base 4gb ram on Tuesday at 5am.. Still shows not yet shipped...payed the extra $14 for shipping too..

Call Apple and they will credit the $14 shipping charge..they did for me..even though I still ended up cancelling and going with Macmall.

I'm starting to get a bit worried... 2 or 3 others in here have ordered a MBA within the last couple of days like me, and you guys have waited over 4 days for them to ship it, and they still haven't shipped it. If they haven't shipped mine by wednesday I'll be calling Apple right away. Either they must be really busy at the factory or someone have burned it to the ground. I'm gonna go nuts if my new MBA won't arrive around the 15 or 16 feb as planned. Then I'm going to order a ticket to Shanghai and pick it up my self... :)

I can't even order from Macmall since I'm from Denmark. We have a different keyboard, and Apple gave me 12% education discount on my MBA.

Any custom build is going to take time. It'll take them a week to get it through the pipeline. The joys of "Just In Time" production. It's amazing how quickly we get accustomed to instant gratification, isn't it?

Apple just sucks. If Macmall can ship within 24 hours, why does it take Apple one week just to prepare the order? I know there are many sycophants on this site that would never admit Apple is actually on the same level as dell, but it's true with their logistics line. Actually, dell sends custom computers quicker than Apple...probably because dell ships from the u.s. whereas Apple ships from china..which is funny because all the liberals in hollywood love Apple even though the company runs contrary to their belief of keeping jobs in the u.s.

glad i switched to macmall.

Status on My MBA 13 base with 4gb just changed to prepared for shipping just now.. I ordered on Tuesday at 5am from L.A... Hopefully I get it by Tuesday..

I cross my fingers that you'll get it by tuesday. :)

The factory must be working in the weekends too? Since they can prepare your MBA for shipping on a saturday?

I think the reason why MacMall can ship faster than Apple must have something to do with MacMalls large stock. If they have bought alot of Mac's with different specs it's much easier for them to ship it off fast.

I don't know what strategies Apple use, but they'll probably first start producing a new Mac AFTER the customer has put in an order. They have most likely only got a few Mac's in stock?

So the only difference when ordering a Mac from either the Apple Store or MacMall must be that MacMalls Mac's probably are a few months old were Apple Store are freshly made from Shanghai.

Ordered my MBA 13" Ultimate Refurb at 1 AM, and received tracking info in the morning! It'll get here tomorrow :D

Total was ~$1670 -- much cheaper than getting it brand new (CA tax for MacMall..arg!)

Did you buy your refurb from apple? I bought a refurb yesterday and he (customer servive) basically told me I wouldnt get it for a week. I couldnt even get overnight shipping because they have to put the MBA through a few test first before they ship it to me..

Yep! I ordered through the Apple refurb site. I was feeling buyer's remorse after shelling out that kind of dough, but couldn't back out since my status had changed to 'Prepared for Shipment' within minutes of my confirmation email. It arrived at 2PM the next day! :)

(FWIW: My refurb box was dated 1/23/11, so I'm guessing that was when my MBA was ready for the refurb store)

Sounds like they ran out of ready-to-sell refurbs, hopefully they get some in soon!

Hello Everyone,

This is my first post!:)

I ordered a 13" MBA w/4GB on Feb. 1 and it is currently shown in Memphis as I anxiously await delivery. There was one glitch that may have slowed down my order; my credit card company refused the Apple charge for fear of fraud. That was quickly resolved.

After suffering with PCs for nearly 20 years I switched to a Mac three years ago and love the build quality, service and software stability. Cheers

placed my order for a 11" base refurb. Had it shipped to my cousin's house in Delaware to avoid the sales tax.
