Can you upgrade the 11 inch 2010 macbook air that has 4 GB ram to 8GB ram?
No! Not only is 4GB the max the RAM is soldered onto the logic board which means if you bought a 2GB model you're stuck with 2GB.
I ordered 1 base 11.6 model the other day with 4GB of ram which is expected to deliver on the 2nd of Feb but after thinking about I'm gonna get a refund and get the better one.
Anyone know what would happen about AppleCare seen as I got it with a HE discount, would I get a refund on that or can I use it with the better one if I ordered it? I had an e-mail about AppleCare and it's already tied to the machine so I'm unsure.
If I buy a 4GB, I am stuck with 4GB forever then?
Um, your using a 11.6" screen as your primary computer?
Think you should've gone with the 13" one.
I bought a Seagate Momentus XT 500GB Hybrid with the 4GB SSD buffer ($120 at Amazon) and put it in a very slim enclosure for use as my external with my 11" Ultimate...I put my entire iTunes library (nearly 80GB) and about 100GB of movies on it (also use it as an extra backup to Time Machine)...iTunes opens in less than one bounce of the icon...great little external that is very small in form factor thanks to the slim case I purchased and very light and very fast (considering the limits of the USB connection)...couldn't be happier...Got my 11" 64gb 2gb air yesterday (took just over 36 hours from amazon) and am loving it so far.
Went from a late 2007 macbook with 320gb WD black and 4gb ram to a base macbook air..and am using it as my primary machine!
Figured the 128gb wouldn't be enough either so if I am going to be carting around an external I might as well save some money.
I think it is not quite as fast as I was expecting but at its slowest is at least as fast as my macbook. So so far so good.
Runs cool and quiet and the screen is surprisingly usable, the higher res really makes a difference and was an easy switch to a smaller screen. Very happy.

Great drive but a total waste of money because you can only access it with USB. I'd have recommended the regular Seagate Momentus 500GB 7200RPM drive, with it you would have save $40 and gotten the same performance.
Got my MBA 11,6" ultimate 24 hours ago and I am still amazed how fast ist handles its tasks. I use it for writing and surfing. Haven´t had the chance to check its gaming capabilities yet, but I didn´t buy it for gaming purposes anyway. However, I am pretty sure that it would easily handle a little online skirmish once in a while, at least the Youtube videos make me believe so. I am pretty happy to be part of the MBA-Clan.
Indeed! It took all of 10 minutes to install in my 15" MBP (well, after three hours of formatting and migrating data from my original 320GB Hitachi)...That's a good buy!
Does anyone have any pointers concerning things to look for on a refurb to make sure it is all it should be?
It should be in tip top shape but just listen for strange HDD noises and look for a dead pixel.
Same here. After weeks of looking, researching and checking out the 11.6 MacBook Air in person at the Apple store I just ordered a refurbished 11.6 MacBook Air, 1.6GHz 128 SSD and 4GB RAM.
Couldn't resist. Used to have a 12" PB and loved it. I've looked for refurbished 11.6 MBA before, but haven't been able to find one loaded until this morning. It was $1189 which is 15% off regular price.
Here's hoping it arrives in like new condition with no issues.

That would be quite a trick considering they don't have a HDD!
