Not really, I ordered my on 3rd of March and it shipped on 6th. It wasn't moving for 2 days because it was weekend. Delivered on 12th I think. Quite fast still...

depends on what it was that u customized cuz if it was the graphics card you will for sure be waiting a while...

I changed the GPU and mouse. If you take the ATI card it'll take loooooooong time.

If you order one of the stock models then it ships the next day? Assuming it is in stock at your local distribution depot.

If you change anything, i.e. you want a numeric keyboard or wireless mouse or any hardware change then it becomes a BTO (Built To Order) and you get a "ships in 3 days" message but it doesn't come from your local distribution depot but from elsewhere (China, Eastern Europe?) and it is three days before it ships from there. Then there is the transit and getting through customs time to factor in.

Have I got this right?

Based on my experience I would agree. I only changed the keyboard (to numeric) and upgraded to a wireless mouse. On the Apple Store if you make any amends it automatically changes shipping to three days. I would have ordered the Remote but this changed shipping to 8 days, which I am amazed at! So I bought that separately to keep the time down.

Ordered 23/3. Shipped 26/3. Delivered 31/3. It started life in Prague.

I sent a MBP back for a refund to order this baby, I hope it's good! Glad I went for the higher graphics card, I know in the future I might try out some decent games.

The size of the screen is going to be odd at first. But I am looking forward to playing some Football Manager AND watching a movie all on one screen!

Congratulations! The screen will seem ridiculously large at first, but you'll soon get used to it. As your iMac is a BTO, I would say it's probably going to take a week, as it comes from China.

i totally agree.. i went from using a 15" laptop to the 24" imac a few weeks ago. it seemed TOO BIG at first (i even regretted not getting the 20") -- i felt i couldn't see the whole screen even from 3 feet away. but after a few days, i absolutely love the size and can't believe i was using my tiny 15" for 5 years!

Not always. My came from Czech Republic. I guess european BTOs comes from Czech and USA and Asia from China

They are manufactured in China but I think when you start to change from the standard package number pad keyboards/mice etc., then this is done in the Czech Republic.

Hey everyone!

I just ordered a 24" iMac with no upgrades except for a numeric keyboard. So anyways, I ordered it last Wednesday and I check the Fedex (delivery service) website and it said it was supposed to arrive today and 6:00 pm (Which is quite a few hours still). Is this accurate? I mean, it is in Calgary now, and I live in Ottawa Ontarion, Almont to be exact.

I've converted from a PC, and so glad I did.

After waiting out the upgrade rumors, I ordered an iMac (24-inch) on 25 March, along with a printer and iWork, MobileMe, and other things.

The Mobile me key arrived in two days, the printer arrived on 31 March, and the iMac arrived on 1 April.

I'm in a home office, so unfortunately, I won't get much gawking mileage out of it.

Unless I clean my house enough to invite someone over. Nah......

Maybe I'll just leave all my windows open during the morning go-to-work and evening back-to-burbs drive times.

The screen is huge, and I am adjusting to that.

But it is beautiful.

I am totally new to this forum and I like it
On Tuesday (31rd March 8.00am) I ordered the new iMac 24" 2.66 GHz 640 GB NVIDIA 9400 and Apple said ships in 3 Business Days. This was yesterday. Today I only get the message ready for shipment.
Apple sent me an email to confirm that my order would be processed and due 10 Apr, 2009 - 13 Apr, 2009 and then it changed to 14Apr, 2009 - 15Apr, 2009

What do you think, will they ship it today? And do I get my iMac before Eastern?
I am so excited....

Was it a BTO system? And if so, did you order the ATI Card?

As probably everyone knows, the ATI Card is being delayed for some reason. My BTO with the ATI Card is not due to be shipped till May 4, delivers May 6.
