Add (& view) keywords in photos app:

I'm new to iOS but have been using Mac for years. I was surprised to find you can't added keywords / captions to photos in photos app. Such a simple feature which should be added. It would be good to also have access to other basic photo metadata.

In the meantime what is the best work around? Is there an extension for this or do I have to resort to a seperate app - if so please recommend an app.

Apple seems to be slow in implementing popular features. There are 3rd party apps like Hashphotos which can add tags but the problem is those tags apply only in that app so when using another app including Apple's Photo app, all the tags are gone thus making those tags useless.

Make spotlight more "global". For example, when typing a movie title—spotlight should shows IMDB link, rating, etc. At the moment, only movies you already opened before from the app—indexed on spotlight. other than that, location, restaurant, places, etc would make it better.
In case of IMdb it also shows you the current most searched movies/tv shows/actors that IMdb has marked public for Applebot to index.
[doublepost=1464786762][/doublepost]1) 3D Touch integrations in Spotlight Search and Control Center.
2) Opening Siri for 3rd party apps (already rumoured).
3) Ability to hide stock apps (A toggle for every stock app just like the iCloud Drive app would be good).
4) Universal Dark Mode (Somewhat reminiscent of OS X dark mode).
5) Option to turn off Background app refresh only on Cellular data.
6) Better UI optimization for 4 inch devices and iPad Pro.
7) Improved iOS cache management.
8) Option to edit exif data in photos app.
9) Support for rich preview of links in messages app.
10) Landscape support for Siri.

The "excuse" is basically that that is not how Apple envisions, and thus not how they design iOS (at least not thus far).
Well if that's the case, then the iPad Pro shouldn't exist, because it's pretty pointless at the moment except for artists. Apple was stupid to release it without a special version of OS X. For it to be a "Pro device" it has to be able to run an actual OS with pro apps like Photoshop, Final Cut Pro X, Logic Pro, etc. iPad Pro is supposed to be for prosumers, but at the moment it's nothing more than a gigantic tablet to watch Netflix on.

Does using all these features slows down the performance of your iPad?

No, it runs just as we'll as it does in stock Springboard.

Well, again, it seems like Apple has a different idea about what it should be based on what they think and designed it to be. Seems like there are people who agree with it or at least are just fine with it as they buy the product. It doesn't mean that it can't be better or that there aren't other ways for it to be, just that it's not what Apple designed it like.

The iPad Pro is not even 1 year old, Apple might still bring the prosumer features in further software upgrades like iOS 10. Remember the 1st iPhone didn't even had copy and paste?

And that's just fine for the 9.7 inch iPad. iOS IMO is perfect on that iPad, but on a 12 inch tablet running a mobile operating system that still isn't optimized correctly for it is unacceptable. With the iPad Pro's power, there isn't a doubt in my mind that it can run a version of OS X. Apple needs to quit trying to fix everything with new devices and start fixing this mess of software they have.

You have to think though. Apple just started with a mobile operating system on that, but at this point Apple has plenty of time, plenty of developers, and plenty of experience to make a tablet Mac that can kick the Surface Pro's a**, but apparently they think they can make a mobile operating system do what a Windows PC can do, which is to much to ask for.

1. customized control center. I mean 'Come on'. I've never used stop watch or the calculator (I use calculator widget in noti center) or the camera (easier to pull up from lock screen). Let me set my own apps like 'Notes' etc.
2. picture in picture for iPhone. I want to listen to Youtube while doing sth else.

If that's what you are saying, then they weren't ready for it. With the iPhone, they had to start somewhere, but now, they have all the experience in the world to make a perfect tablet Mac straight out of the gate. It wouldn't take much to make OS X touch friendly, and it definitely wouldn't with the experience Apple has out of iOS. Less than a year old or not, iPad Pro was a flop.

We never know, but putting OS X would've had somewhat same fate as Windows RT. The iPad Pro definitely has less prosumer features compared to Surface Pro, but Surface Pro doesn't have the best 3rd party developers creating apps for it. Apple is laying the foundation for a iOS powered Pro tablet right now which will definitely benefit later on.

And they might head that way. What you feel about the iPad Pro can certainly apply to you and various others, just as it doesn't for many others. iOS and iOS devices have been what they are for some time now, it's not exactly a surprise or something strange that they are what they are today. As things progress that might certainly change to one degree or another, as is sometimes the case with various different products over time.

YouTube doesn't even support Picture-in-Picture on the iPad. It's in Google's control.

Lol, picture in picture with the VideoPane Cydia tweak works flawlessly. I didn't know YouTube wont work with picture in picture in iOS 9. That's kinda crummy of Google.

I would like Android esque notifications.

1. In iOS would like to see cascading notification. Now you wake up in the morning to ten different emails in your email account each appearing as a different notification. The Android method has been to reduce those ten to one Notification that says ten unread emails. If you pull down on it it expands to show each different email. Android N takes this a step forward to allow you to pull down on each individual email to see a detailed summary of it and reply to each one inline.

2. An icon in the notification bar of the app for the notification. So many times when I used an iPhone I wished for this feature. Combined with Cascading notifications it will not get to cluttered.

That's my biggest gripe with iOS.

I would so love that. I would also love the quick swipe to see time and aforementioned app icons that Android has as opposed to that damn pull-down tab.

Neat. Maybe a bit more touch-optimised and efficient though. And of course, skeuomorphism would never happen.

Is that iOS 10 feature?
So far it has shipped with every version of iOS... so yes.

The gestures are great I love them.

Skeuomorphism never should've left in the first place. It's much more pleasant to look at, it's more fun (if that makes sense), it allows for multiple UIs in one package which is consistent by following the same style of design (which is its advantage), and lastly IT NEVER GETS BORING!!!!!

If you ask me the current iPad pro is moronic. Put a low power intel in one of them and throw OSX in it. A real iPad pro. Look at the surface pro.

The Surface Pro 4 is a great laptop replacement, but it's an awful tablet. That's why making it a Mac wouldn't solve anything.

That said, I would love for it to be more optimised. It's got great hardware, but the software is just same old, not taking advantage of it. Making an new OS specifically for the iPad is my wish, but it would be a dream. But I feel as if they will at least optimise it a bit more, maybe add support for desktop programs.

As for Intel, there is no need whatsoever. ARM is developing at a much faster rate, and we've reached a point where chips like the A9X are beating lower-end Intel chips. Plus, ARM chips are far more power efficient than even the low-end Intel chips.

My iOS 10/X wish list
  1. Group calling for FaceTime and MMS video calling fallback for cross platform support.
  2. Landscape mode for Apple Music on iPhone and split view for Apple Music on iPad.
  3. Public footpath directions in Apple maps - like red ways in Milton Keynes (UK)
  4. Apple Pay in Spain and France
  5. More public transit directions in Europe.
  6. iOS maps nearby feature in Spain and Italy
  7. Ability to copy SIM card contents to secure enclave so phone continues to operate with SIM card removed. New SIM cards have to be approved with the phone unlocked. - easier to trace phone if stolen.
  8. Offline Siri
  9. Handover for music app to continue listing from another device where you last left off with the previous one
  10. Translation extensions in iOS Safari like MacOS safari
  11. Built in scanner "capture" app
  12. Ability to change preferred order of WiFi networks like OS X and see the saved wifi passwords like OS X

Yes that's exactly what I bought my iPad Pro for, so I could run OS X on a smaller screen... I'm just fine with mine running iOS on an A9X chip. If I wanted an Intel-based device running OS X I'd have bought the 13" MacBook Air. I didn't buy my iPad Pro because I wanted a full OS. I bought it because I wanted a large screen mobile device for creativity. Buying an iPad Pro and complaining that it doesn't run a full blown OS is like buying a bus ticket and complaining that you have to sit next to someone. What did you think you were getting?
