Irrelevant, especially when one says something is larger than another.

Fact: the iPhone 6+ is smaller than the Samsung Note 4. The 6+ is actually much closer to size of the S5 than it is to the Note 4 when it comes to how much pocket space it takes up.

If one where interested in how much of a given content the phones could hold, volume would be relevant. No one gives a rip! Measure it by SURFACE AREA! Go brush up on elementary math.

Surface area?

Like your have to wrap your hand around it, which directly impacts where your thumb lands and what elements you have to reach for and how much you have to reach?

Unless your phone is laying on a table all day without being picked up, no surface area is not all that matters.

Dude, trying to make the size of the iPhone 6+ 'smaller than x' is an exercise in futility. You can try and justify it by calculating the volume, but when it goes in your hand or in your pocket, it IS big. No amount of sugar-coating will change that.

I look forward to lots of people complaining about the size of this phablet and likely returning it. This will likely be the most returned Apple product in history.

It's a mathematical fact till it isn't.

And when it goes in your hand the feedback thus far is it doesn't feel as massive as android X, so it pays to think in three dimensions.

And no one is saying it is not a big phone. It is a big phone, but if one is going to say something is larger than something else, it actually should be, or you end up with this...

uugghhh... yes, the iPhone 6+ is thinner (a massive 1.4mm thinner) and barely lighter (just 4 grams separate the 2, which no one will notice). But it is also taller by nearly a quarter of an inch (or 4.5mm). Less than 1mm separate the width between the two.

HEIGHT
iPhone = 6.22 inches (158.0 mm)
Note 4 = 6.04 inches (153.5 mm)
WIDTH
iPhone = 77.7 mm
Note 4 = 78.6 mm
DEPTH
iPhone = 7.1 mm
Note 4 = 8.5 mm
WEIGHT
iPhone = 172 g
Note 4 = 176 g

Terminology aside, lamens will say it is bigger. And lamens equate to 99% of the consumers. You will just have to accept that. ;) Put both phones in your pocket. The one that sticks out is 'bigger' and guess what... that will be the iPhone. :p

I don't disagree, but you'll have to concede the rabble masses will also say "don't care, it's an iPhone".

Ok the note is a TAD wider, but the note is a PHABLET. And the bezels on the iphone 6 plus are GIGANTIC.

Wait, what? And the 6+ is.....? 5.5" display = phablet last I checked. The Note's display is marginally larger.

----------

You do know depth width and height is how volume is calculated?

And one should know what it means to describe something as larger before typing it.

Lol....you should know better.....no amount of facts or logic will work here. Especially right after a major announcement......let them whine. I'm outa here after this fantasy football season. Nothing constructive on these forums anymore.

No argument there. And even though I am disappointed with the resolution of the 4.7", I'll get past it and likely say the same thing in a months time. :)

To bad you can't actually buy one. The 1+ might as well be 1 million dollars. Without an invite, it is useless to compare a phone you can buy in 9 days to one you can't buy at all.

I'm right between them with my Samsung S5.

Do I want to go down in size to iPhone 6 or balloon up the 6+?

iOS 8 is really going to be the deciding factor to me, which is why I will roll with my 5S for awhile before deciding. I'm going to need to see some experience improvements to be convinced the iPhone 6 is worth changing to.

And I really like my S5. It's been a real champ.

The current crop of Android is hardly laggy... Snapdragon 805 chip in Note 4 hasn't hiccuped at all in hands on reviews. Back in the days? Yes. If we're talking lag then let's talk about iOS7 on my iPhone 4 tho....
Watch for almost anytime they pull down the notification shade. Samsungs always lag & stutter. iOS 7 blows though, quite possibly the best ad for Android. Hopefully iOS 8 has much needed stability and smoothness enhancements.

I'd rather have the 4.7", but without the 1080 screen, I'm just not sure...

The LG G3 is sitting at 580ppi, the iP6+ is 401ppi and the iP6 is still 326. I balked pretty hard when the Moto X was 720p, the iP6 is no better.

HTC got 1080p into the 4.7" screen with the One (440ppi).

So iPhone is taller but note is wider with more screen. Are people moaning about iPhone being taller here?

Agreed. I have both Android and ios (on phones & tablets) and to me the hardware is now all the same. Whether its from Moto, Samsung, LG or Apple you can now pick the size of device and chances are you can find what suits you. And if you can't then wait 6 months until the next releases and try again. Add in the market forces that are going to keeping pushing specs up and prices down and the hardware will (eventually) get down to commodity level.

After that it's all down to the OS. When I pick up my phone it's not to admire the pixel density or the fact that it's 7mm vs 8mm or that it's an IPS panel vs Amoled. I pick it up to quickly get that email that came in, check a map,play a video or some music, look up a contact etc etc. It's all about the OS and how it suits you and that's where the battle will be. I'm on Android now (on the phone) because it suits my need today but will look at IOS8 and others to see if they will work better for me. If not I'll stay on Android and just get my work done.

I am loving the form factor of the OPO.

It is 5.5 inches but it doesnt feel anywhere near that due to the very low weight and form factor of the build. I had a Note 3 and it felt significantly heavier and tougher to handle as it felt wider and I know it is barely.

This iPhone Plus looks interesting though for having iOS on the big screen.

I would love to see the IP6+ next to the OnePlus and benchmarks too....
Then see which one has better build materials. Which one will be more resistant to scratches and so on....

I'm 100% sure just by the specs that the iPhone 6+ will feel better in the hand compared to the Note 4. Why? Round and smooth edges.. smaller width and depth. Less weight.

The only downside of the iPhone 6+ in terms of size compared to the Note 4 is the length. It's a bit taller and this is something that might affect how it feels in your pocket.

Agree with you on some points. But also add to the mix the Note 4 has the S-Pen. So the body and weight are designed to account for the storing of the stylus into the phone. I think that is a key element that is missing from this discussion. Remove the S-Pen and the weight drops (not by much) and the body could be made thinner as well. So the N4 adds more functionality at a very small weight and thickness addition. Now because of the design and materials of the IP6..........who would use it without a case? That aluminum is going to scratch very easily. So slap on a case and it adds weight and thickness.

Omg get real. The height is the only thing that matters. That is why so many people are mentioning it. The height is of great importance when you have the phone in the pocket. Especially when you are sitting down, bending over, cycling etc.

It is even more important here, as a 5.5" phone by todays standards should not be massive. In fact, 5.5" is a quite pocketable phone - if done right that is. Look at the size of LG G3.

We all know it deep inside. The iphone 6 plus is embarassing.
