Enough with the two toned backs already. It's so ugly. I still hate it on the iPhone 5.

I'm planning to switch to the HTC one. I don't like how dependent I've become on jailbreaking. I routinely wind up restoring my iPhone. Once I have to and lose my jailbreak, I'm going BACK to android...to the ONE!

That is, of course, unless ios7 gives me what I want jailbreak for. (Toggles, gestures, and some widgets/live wallpaper eye candy)

You'll be going to the ONE, haha. :p

Sorta bored with ios(have an iPad also) and my 4s just feels...small. Love the build quality of the htc one and it seems most of what I have on my iphone can move over to android, or I can find the respective app. I have navigon on my iphone, but if google navigation works great offline(international trips) that's a deal breaker.

That and 64gb memory on a phone for only 300? I'm in. There's options now to move music to cloud storage

I don't think I have anything that's ios only. As long as I can get it to work well, I'm fine. I just need to look at a store phone mid April

I felt the same way. I had every bonus version of the iPhone all way up to 5 which I got on release day. By January I was just plain bored with it. I got excited back when the jailbreak came out and that helped squelch any looking elsewhere for a bit but curiosity finally took over and I got the S3.

I like it but one thing I did notice is playing with my wife's i5 from time to time was the build quality. Now don't get me wrong I think the S3 is a great phone but loved the cool touch (literally) of the iPhone. I was dead set on getting the octo-core processor S4 when the rumors were flying in early February (not knowing the limited release it would have) until I saw the One. I fell in love with the build and knew that unless the S4 blew me away it would be the phone I got.

Now I am a few short days away from AT&Ts preorder for it. Guess I will get my S3 ready to sell so I can build up anticipation a little more by having a dumb phone for a few days.

You have much issue with rebuying apps? That's what I'd be worried about

When I made the switch I thought rebuying apps was going to be a big deal. It surprisingly wasn't. The whole ecosystem argument shouldn't be a deterrent for switching. Especially nowadays.

No, although to be fair, I didn't pay but for a handful of apps so there wasn't much to lose.

One thing I did hate and HTC seems to have figured out a solution for is getting everything from iTunes over. I never used Kies or whatever it is because I knew the S3 was temporary so didn't really try to hard at it.

onthecouchagain were you originally a iphone user? I am just aware of your current i5 stint. I have only been on the forums for a little bit now.

You can always go to the Google playstore and look through the catalog to see if the apps you need are available, and at what cost.

How have you all coped with the update process? I have heard htc isn't the best when it comes to phone software support after purchase. Hope this iteration proves me wrong

I'm going through it now.......

HTC Sync Manager is buggy alright. Lots of pauses where you think its locked up. Especially if you use it to manage music on the device.

I'm impressed with the handset so far, will update later as I've only really added my accounts and restored from my google backup so downloaded apps.

Found a little bug or two that I've managed to sort via XDA (such as weather not reporting my location - turns out 'fastboot' is to blame) and Blinkfeed I'm still trying to find the sources. I thought Verge & Engadget were meant to be there but I cant find them so far.

The double-dip case really adds bulk and distracts from the aesthetics.

The screen protector is easy enough to apply.

Will update you all more with an in depth look after 24 hours :)

The whole ecosystem argument isn't just about having to repurchase apps.....

But I agree, its really not difficult to switch. The issue is whether you like Google services (cloud, drive, play etc...) or Apple services (iCloud, iTunes, Photostream etc...) better.

Ecosystem to me is how all my devices interact - my iMac, iPad mini and iPhone 5 are all in-sync all the time, without me having to do anything. iCloud is always backing up my stuff, my photos and music are all synced and ready to share. App quality and experience plays a role here too. Can you get this with Google stuff? Of course - though there are differences. Heck, you can even mix and match to a certain degree (my music stays perfectly synced with the three above mentioned devices and my Nexus 4).

I'm not saying which is better overall, simply that I like the Apple ecosystem and think there's more to it than simply "rebuying" apps...

ive seen some pretty awesome homescreens from the THC on xda, the phone looks pretty dam awesome and the price is fair for the quality you get (yet to see someone complaint about the housing).

Seems that "blinkfeed" its not a widget ? like built-in on sense.

As long as they are fairly similar I am fine. I will still have an iPad, so there is not much to worry there. It's just my iphone is feeling small and would like something with more real estate and this is what I came across. The galaxies feel plasticy, but I need to have a one in my hands before I make a decision.

I have a ton of iTunes music. Let me know if there's any issue with them playing AAC

No problems playing AAC files.

First impressions are very good.

It's very fast, and there is not a single trace of lag throughout the entire os.

I had to disable 'fastboot' in order to get the weather widget to update my location for some reason ? I was messing for ages trying to get it to work but finally got it.

Messed about taking a few snaps when I took the dogs for a walk. The photos are grand for Facebook / Instragram / Twitter, but yes the resolution does come across as lacking if you try to blow up.

Zoe is fab, really cool and the interactive event gallery is like something out of Harry Potter.

Here are a few quick snaps and one with the edit filters applied.

Wow nice!!!! This is the way Samsung should be making their phone, not the cheap looking plastic.
I might preorder mine contract free tomorrow.

Fastboot is a rooting thing correct? So those of us not planning on rooting or unlocking the bootloader don't have to worry about this right?
