how do you like the camera compared to the iphone 5? ive seen a lot of bad photos in a german forum, especially compared with the iphone 5. it even fared worse in low light.

In fairness you've been hating on HTC long before that article :p;)

Yeah nearly all phones in China seem to carry dual sims for some reason ...

Certainly it cant be crafted the same way as the back on the international one is a solid sheet of aluminium with clever recesses embezzled into the frame for the aerials but it one whole piece regardless. Clearly that can't be the case with the Chinese model.

A Little Battery Update... (a normal working day test)

My phone has been on since 8:30am this morning. It's now 5pm here and with normal moderate usage throughout the day, listening to music as I walk on the beach, bluetooth calls in the car, voice calls at work, checking email every 15 minutes, facebook and twitter updates, reading some blinkfeed and pulse, I'm currently at 78%.

And power-saver feature is NOT on.

Will see how it holds up till I go to bed this evening, but I certainly am not having any problems. :)

Excellent news, you're debunking all of my concerns in getting this phone.

Would you mind posting a screenshot of the battery detail pages? Both overall and on-screen time? Just want to get an idea relative to my Nexus 4 and my current usage.

I typically need around 14 hours of total time and 5-6 hours of usage (not demanding in the slightest I know).

Better in low light on the HTC, but in perfect scenario the iPhone 5 still wins out due to number of pixels which clearly render more detail.

The HTC will render more light, but not pixels.

Depending on your usage - for example as a social camera for the likes of Facebook/HTC Share/Instagram/Twitter then the lack of resolution shouldn't pose an issue - but if your blowing them up or wanting to crop someone out of a picture (blowing up a portion of the picture) then yes the resolution may be an issue for you.

Personally I have a separate digital compact that I use when I really want to capture photo's I'm keeping or printing regardless. My camera phone has always been to snap and share and I do that daily. :)

So yeah, swings & round-a-bouts.

HTC issued a firmware for the camera lately that reportedly improved photos, and I'm assuming mine came with it. But haven't got a any big complaints anyway.

One thing, ZOE! If you try and import a ZOE photo into iPhoto / Aperture it imports it as every single static shot and not the animated zoetrope !!!! So you get a lot of repeated stills..... Something to be aware of.

Will do.

Just need to figure out how to take a screenshot ? :)

OK here we go. This is the 8hr 30 battery report :)

What's the deal with SD cards? [insert Seinfeld voice].
Really? I don't get it. If 32 GB or 64 GB is big enough what's the need for SD cards?

Expandable memory and if you're transferring tons of videos, etc regularly, an SD card reader does it faster than via USB thru the phone.

Isn't that more hassle to remove the back cover of the phone to take out SD card and plug into adapter then plug again to PC? What's the point?

Somehow I fail to believe professionals (the most likely to be recording so much video) will be using this phone for video and photography.

HTC designed this phone to meet 99% of the market's needs. 32Gb is plenty for most people. Also, most people charge their phone when they get home. No one should be playing on their phone at work enough to drain the battery before then either.

I fail to see 32Gb (permanent storage) and a smallish battery as being a problem.

Especially when the 32 gb costs as much as the 16 gb GS4 or iPhone 5 and the smallish battery supposedly holds up quite well.

Maybe at your place of work you aren't supposed to be on your phone but at mine I'm required to use it. I'm issued a 16gb 4S and its NOT suited for heavy business use. Not enough storage, not easy saving/moving/editing certain files, and battery life keeps me constantly tethered to a wall.

I think its more suited for social networking with lighter use.

This is today. I've had it charging from 25 to 60 percent. So most of the day and I still have 4-5 hours left.

Did you ever look into the battery life on yours? I know we talked about this in another thread and you said you thought there might be something wrong with it.

I too use my iP5 for work and can make it at LEAST a day on standby with roughly 6-7 hours of use....that's from full to below 20%

Nice to watch movie, sweet dogs ;).

Thanks :)

AWESOME. Very impressive. I don't see LTE affecting that all that much - and even if it did, that's plenty of battery life for me.

Now I'm going to hate waiting for September.....:p

Well its been 3 hours since I last did it and I've just updated a few apps from google play-store, driven to the beach with bluetooth audio to my car, made a few calls and sent a couple of texts and I'm still at 70%

:)

Told ya it was worth waiting for :)

Battery life was one of my main concerns and reading the reviews I was worried, but in reality it's not a problem in the slightest for me.

Low light demonstration.

As I was asked earlier about low light I've just done a very quick photo comparison of my iPhone 5 v HTC one in another office as dusk settles in.

That is a damn beautiful phone. If iOS7 isn't mind blowing this year I'm half tempted between that and the S4!

Looks crisp and clear

Amazing ! looks like the iphone 6 ! ! ! :D

Seriously, I think HTC stole some Apple design thunder.....

And seeing as they have a nice licensing agreement in place, they can simply reap the benefits instead of getting into a lawsuit battle.

Remind me why people hate HTC again??

AT&T is willin to override my early upgrade fee at the end of may :) I think I'm moving over

Ok well after a full day of regular use from my HTC One X I am pleased to report that my battery is at 65%.

So yep, pretty confident I'm going to be alright with this phone battery wise :)
