Couch seems your iphone 5 can get advantage of t-mobile stuff, saw something about they are rolling out a carrier update for all the iphone 5 (2013)
unlocked on the network.

Yes trade in must be fully working with no water damage, etc.

Unlock one is unbranded and free from carrier bloat.

Oh snap. Mine doesn't have water damage but touch screen does not work. Do you think they would even check the trade-in phone?
Anyway, I requested promo code but didn't get it yet. how long it's supposed to take?

Yup. Haven't gotten the update yet.

Either way, it's going back next week. 30 days are almost up.

Which is why I'm inclined to get the HTC One.

I wonder how HTC can afford to do this? Ima trade in my LG G2X. I wonder if they care that screen is scratched as well as the body? It works about as well as g2x could have worked.:p

I've got an upgrade I could use. So that brings it to $100 for the HTC one. If it were da bomb, I'd sell my jailbroken iPhone 4S 32Gb and profit.

Yeah, I noticed that too. But is it missing HSPA or HSPA+? Big difference. HSPA is 21 MB/s where as HSPA+ is 42 MB/s. Which is not supported?

Another question: is it easy to flash ROMs on a Mac?

Couch, flashing is a breeze once you've rooted and install a custom recovery like ClockworkMod or TWRP, don't need a computer as once you download the ROM (and Google apps if not part of the ROM), the custom recovery does all the work.

Rooting is the more difficult part but nothing to fear, usually fairly simple as well. And while there are usually Windows options sooner and more of them, there is usually also a Mac based option. I've rooted a Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, and a Note 2 without incident, all using a Mac.

I'm not inclined to constantly flash to try new ROMs, did it on my Note 2 to have a bloat free experience and considering this is carrier free, probably will hold off until I can play with Sense a bit--have never used HTC's skin. That being said, if there's ever a version of Paranoid Android for the One, I'll be giving that a go--love the PIE controls. :D

I think its available now, anyway if you get the htc im sure the only gripe you will have is the button placement :)

Just placed my order.

C'mon HTC, impress me.

Can't tell if being sarcastic or being serious.

If being sarcastic, then, aye, you can count on me to voice every complaint I have. ;)

And if being serious, well, you can count on me to voice every complaint I have. :p

I'll be sure to start a whole thread about it. Don't worry, I'll do the same for the S4.

I think a review from you commands a new thread :p but i dont know something tells me the only thing bad you will find is the button placement (power and home).

The s4 meh dont care about it, if i change the nexus 4 this soon will be for a htc one but no news of a release here and i dont have any plans to travel to the states anytime soon.

And yes serious

My Blackberry Curve 8320 trade in value is $0!

That's not cool. It's on the list. What the heck. Not damaged and fully functional.

And it was $100 dollars when I tried before ordering the phone. What a scam! :O

EDIT: Sorry. I went to the wrong site.

I got a question for ya... when you lay the device flat without the case on it's back, how's it feel?

Does it rock back and forth from side to side? Just curious.

Just tried it for you. It rocks a little the curved back does have an area which is flat (it's not completely con-curve) from camera down (bout an inch) there is a flat area so it only rocks if you press on the edges, but generally its sturdy.

I'll see if I can get time to catch a video of it for you to show.

The trade in information is a little vague, isn't it?

So I preordered the HTC One then I submitted my Blackberry Curve for the estimated value. I then saved it via my email.

That's it?

Once my HTC One arrives, I just mail the BB with proof of purchase to them (what will the address be? There's no info.) and they'll just know it's linked together?

Kind of confused.

Didn't get my confirmation email yet.

Concerns me. Especially after having gone through the nightmare that was Google Play and the Nexus 4...

Thanks. That's reassuring.

Maybe this will help you, if you have a junk smartphone at home that you no longer user. $100 back for your HTC One, I'm going to send in an old BB Curve I have lying around.

So did you get any email or any additional information regarding how this works?

I sort of did it out of order.

I pre-ordered the HTC One first, then I submitted my Blackberry Curve for the estimated value. I hope that doesn't affect it. I don't get how they'll link the two together to my account. Just by my email? I know I'm supposed to put in a proof of purchase when I send the device over to them, but is that enough to link that to me? I guess so?

Just all seems very vague.

Where do you even mail the old device to?

After you submitted the form, you should have received a estimate ID. If you did save for later and inputted your email you should have also received a copy of it via email.

Using the ID, go to this page: http://www.htctradeup.com

Under returning customers put in your ID, and it should bring you to a page that gives you an option to continue. Obviously wait until you receive your HTC One to continue further :)

Still reading, but the camera stills comparison is VERY disappointing.

Oh, excellent. Thanks. I'll save the link.

Also, what's the word with the One getting 4.2?

So battery is actually decent and The Verge just need to learn how to do proper reviews.

Camera's good but iPhone 5 still reigns supreme overall in that department (except in low light). But the One has the best camera on Android right now.

Seems the One really holds its own. I wish it success.

I did get a confirmation email for my order. Checking on status says its "Ready for fulfillment".

That's what my status says too. Except I didn't get an email. Weird.

Just hope it doesn't mean my order is delayed or whatever. Reliving the nexus 4 debacle is not something I want...

... nor something HTC can afford.

Button layout is actually what Google wants.

I actually dont trust either the verge, anandtech or any website for battery life review :)

But talking to people on xda and our residents One owners its clear the battery is very good.

Klug reads like an HTC fanboi. He goes on and on about how great the HTC One is because it is a "all-metal phone" and then mentions that it is also made out of plastic, which he fanboi bashed in the paragraphs before.

Anandtech "battery life" tests are also suspect since they don't provide details about what exactly they load for their test "web sites". They also purposely disable any power saving features if the smartphone gives an option, which is moronic. If they want to do some proper battery life tests, they would stream YouTube videos / Netflix, and have push notifications going for FaceBook and Twitter in the background.
