BTW, in the "Power" settings of the One, when it says "Sleep Mode - Automatically turn off data connection during long periods of inactivity"...

What exactly constitutes "long period of inactivity"? Does anyone know?

A duration slightly bigger than a medium period .... :p

But yeah no idea.....

I finally downloaded Nova launcher to see if it's really that great. Right after I started messing with the setup, I'm like WOW this is great! Being able to do infinite scroll or having the option to scroll through my wallpaper is amazing like the feature in S4.

One thing I noticed is that it eats up battery life though. Before I downloaded Nova, my battery life was great. My phone lasted for 17 hours with moderate use. After I installed Nova, my battery life only lasted 12 hours with same amount of usage (slightly more).

Has any one had the same issue?

The unlocked HTC One and Nexus 4 don't have T-mobile's native radio frequencies (No LTE nor HSPA 42) and the only signal you'll get on TM network is H or E

I just want to tell you, this is misleading.

The HTC One Dev Edition does support LTE on the AWS band. AWS is 1700/2100, which is what Tmobile will be using when they light up their LTE network (some areas already are lit up and people have gotten "LTE" on their dev editions).

You're right however to say it doesn't support HSPA+ 42 MB/s and it never will.

Just to set the record straight.

Hey Couch....you seem like a nice guy and all but do you ever NOT complain about something? :)

There may be something else eating it. Nova has never affected my battery in any noticeable way.

Not sure about this but I turned that off on mine. I have unlimited data so no need to turn the data connection off.

Those are beautiful pictures for a 4 mega pixel camera!

Agreed! Maybe HTC knew what they were doing afterall :)

----------

Yep, there was something wrong with my camera. Great photos.

Now I'm kicking myself I didn't just wait for my replacement HTC One to come back instead of being impulsive and ordering an S4 to tide me over in the interim.

This is my second HTC One too. My first one had an issue with the radio or something and wouldn't hold a data connection. I returned it after 24 hours and decided to stick with my iphone but I decided to try one more and I'm glad I did. The camera is awesome, making Zoes is a lot of fun and I'm not a fan of Samsungs build quality by any means (not to mention the stupid amount of bloatware they put on their phones).

The HTC One isn't perfect by any means but it's got what I need and is rock solid once you get a working one and give it some time to get to know it.

Well my reference was for unlock HTC one 32G and I stand by my statement. The HTC website clearly states and I quote "The unlocked version does not support the 1700 band so HSPA+ and LTE will not work on the T-Mobile network" the link is http://shopamerica.htc.com/cell-phones/productdetail.htm?prId=41589 as far as Dev edition is concern I hope that I'm wrong and you'll get the LTE on T-Mobile network. But I don't understand if HTC goes through the trouble of stating in red bold letter in 32G version that it will NOT work in T-Mobile network, why not say the same thing in 64G Dev edition page that it will work on T-Mobile network?

Yeah, I'm awfully perplexed by that, too, and I brought it up at the XDA forums. No one knows or understands why HTC would do that.

It's causing a ton of confusion. AWS is 1700/2100 and both the 32GB unlocked and the 64GB Dev Edition support AWS as stated at their site. I have no clue why they'd give that red bolded warning on either of the devices.

The fact that it's only there for one of them even though they're both the same devices frequency-wise leads me to believe this is a slip up on HTC's part (I'm honestly not surprised).

I guess because if it stated AWS support it would have to support both HSPA+ & LTE.

By just saying not supported it stops people buying them and then complaining or retuning them for that reason. Especially if in their area T-Mobile are using HSPA+ rather than LTE but still marketing it as their 4G network.

Most people won't know the difference between HSPA & LTE so that they wouldn't see them as different, they just would assume both were high speed 4G.

So yeah, I think its a case of covering their asses.

That makes sense but then it begs the question why the same warning wasn't included in the development edition page. Maybe they think developers will know already or know better somehow?

It's just damn weird and confusing.

My final decision to return the unlock 32G for T-Mobile native version was based on HTC's own statement that it will not work they should know best it is their device why speculate that it may work or work half of the time .... you see my point who needs the additional headache.

HTC One = makes me think again about my decision of ordering an iPhone 5.

Do you have a lot of Apple products? If you do, save yourself the time and trouble of trying to find work arounds, apps and insanely dumb methods of trying to get an Android phone to work with them and stick with the iPhone :)

If you absolutely must use/cannot live without Photostream (for viewing photos), iMessage, or AirPlay with your phone, then I'll tend to agree with this statement. Otherwise, this is pure drivel. My phone is essentially the only non Apple device in our house (couple of iPhones, pair of Macs, numerous iPods, 4 iPads, 4 Apple TVs, AirPort routers) and I'm managing just fine.

Same here.

I'd argue I manage more than just fine. For example, I never have to use iTunes again to load and unload pics and music.

I own iMac, Macbook, iPhone 5, iPad Mini, Apple TV and a

Galaxy S4.

The only two things I can't really do is watch my itunes movies on my phone, which I didn't anyways.

And I can't use photostream on this phone. So I guess I will have to just plug in my phone to my computer and import into iPhoto like I use to do.

No you don't. I have my photos and videos (which Photostream cannot upload) automatically upload into Dropbox once I'm on wifi at home and then an Automator action automatically imports them into my iPhoto library. These photos are then viewable in my photostream for viewing on my iPad.

This doesn't replicate the ability to view photos in Photostream on your Android device but you can always keep the photos in Dropbox (I personally have the Automator action automatically delete them from Dropbox once they are imported into iPhoto).

2 things, can I setup phone only to upload when I am on wifi?
2nd I read online that ATT customers do not get the 50gb promotion, all the work arounds seem not to be working, do you know of one?

I had a little bit of time today watching youtube videos on how to unlock boot loader and root my Tmobile HTC One. I was also able to install a custom rom called "Maximus" which is close to stock but the developer removed all the bloatware that came with the stock OS. There was also an option to remove the annoying 3 dots on the bottom of every app. The developer also tweak and fix the battery life which is so much better.

This video is easy to follow which will unlock your boot loader and root your phone:

This video also talks about rooting your phone but I only followed the part where he installed the custom rom:
