The Official "I'm waiting for my new iMac to arrive" thread

Delayed

Aw man. My ship date was originally yesterday. I checked this morning and it's been pushed out to 5/19.

So far, my first experience with Apple hasnt been too good. Seems like their claimed 1-2 business day shipping message should have a footnote that it could take 2-3 weeks to prep it.

The wait continues.
 
Plenty in Stock!

I just went to the Apple Store in Boca Raton, Florida. Plenty of 20" G5 2.0 GIG in stock with wireless keyboard & mouse combo's!! Picked mine up for $1,900.00 out the door! :D :D :D

Wow, your lucky! I live near Cleveland and out store is sold out.

Yes, i took the bull by the horns *cough* and phoned them today and got the more or less the same answer - he said 3 - 7 working days from shipment date (apparently mine was 9th @ 22.00pm), however he told me i should expect it middle of next week. Which is 2 weeks from date of order - which is about what i expected when i initially ordered :)

Good, if I get it middle of next week, I'll be really happy because I'll get home from London late on Tuesday. Wednesday would be 7 working days from the 9th of May which they initially said it would take (6-7 days) so I guess it's all fine.

The southcenter mini store had two yesterday. Very tempting to get one as I was pretty upset with Apple.com and me being shanghaied however I resisted. Don't know if they still have em.
 
It's in Phoenix

Just updated the FedEx Tracking info...iMac arrived in Phoenix at 1:49PM. It will catch a truck sometime tonight and about 5 hours later be in Las Vegas for delivery tomorrow sometime...(I hope.)

I have that same exact hope. It left Louisville now so I am pretty sure its on its way to Seattle or PDX. However someone at my work (who works part time for UPS) says its on its way to Seattle and out to my house tomorrow. Thankfully I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow and, so I only work a few hours and then premature weekend for me!!

Mine arrived in Seattle!!

I called UPS to see if I could pick it up prematurely (I'm excited!!) but unfortunately I can't. Then he told me that it shipped Freight Collect. My heart sank as freight collect on an expedited item is $230 which was confirmed by him and that I would have to pay UPS in order to receive the item.

So now I am talking to Apple (once again) and seeing what is going on. The rep on the phone just put me on hold (figures) as the information she sees on the screen doesn't match the information I was given by UPS. Hell I am just trying to avoid issues at 5pm tomorrow when I want my computer!!

Tell Apple you have no intention of paying a freight collect charge of $230 and you will refuse the shipment and cancel the order. That is wild stuff...whoever handled the problem with your order should be looking for a new job. Hope you can get it worked out....
 
Finished talking to Apple. Looks like UPS goofed on this one. The UPS rep told me the wrong information and told me about a charge Apple had to pay. Both Apple and UPS confirmed this to me on a conference call. Boy I was getting closed to peeved again!!
 
The last entry on the Fedex tracking site says that it left Sacramento at 7 a.m. on the 11th. No update since then, but the arrival date is still 5/14. If it does not arrive on 5/14, I will be very distraught. I want some weekend time to play with my new toy!
 
Well, after years of wanting a mac, I ordered an iMac today. Got the midrange model, 17" 2.0GHz, so I can have money enough to purchase a powermac next year or so. CAN'T WAIT. Should be here by Monday, but I'll be in Clemson for summer school and won't be back here (where it is being shipped to) until next Thursday. So I will have to wait and suffer through 4 days of class while the machine sits in a box at my parent's house :(

After years of wanting a mac, I switched 38 days ago. In that time, I've sold my first 1.8 GHz 17" iMac on eBay and bought a new 2GHz 20" from The Apple Store. Needless to say, I'm hooked. To date, I've been absolutely blown away by the ease of use (and the firwire transfer to setup my new iMac was seamless). Hardly a day goes by that I don't shake my head in amazement. It's truly a shame that MS has such a stronghold on the software market! Everyone should be using macs!

My tip to you: pick up a copy of "Switching to the Mac: The Missing Manual." It's been invaluable to me.
 
I'm waiting for the Missing Manual for Tiger to come out. The moment that hits the book shelf I'll buy!!

Anywho... it has departed Seattle on its way to the local sort station. Man I can't wait till tomorrow.

Waiting till June to get iMac, they arent getting to NZ till then. But knowing my dad I wont get one from the first shipment - hes runs at .4hz, crashes regularly and I really need to replace him with SugarDaddy v1.0
 
Yes! Just got off the phone to Apple, and my iMac is off the plant.

If only it wasnt for the weekend, I'd have my iMac in 4 days! Have to wait until Thursday :(

Does your order status still read Sent to Manufacturing Snowy? I'm in Aust waiting for my imac too and love any Aus related news :)

Yes, it does. Apparently it will move to shipped once the shipping lands in Sydney.
 
Any news from my fellow TNT victims, waiting in the Netherlands, England, Sweden and Germany?
TNT Germany told me today my iMac left Shanghai on the 11th and will arrive next week... :eek:
