That was something I was going to mention. It's whisper-quiet so far. Maybe I'm not making it work hard enough...

Did you option anything or is it the stock 20"? I added the BT Keyboard and Mouse. I am still at Sent to Manufacturing.

Nope just stock... still preparing shipment at this point, but I'm kind of expecting it not to change to Shipped until tonight, and have the tracking info show that it actually left some time during the day.

those of you who have already received your new iMac...are they shipping with Tiger preinstalled or on DVD in the box? we've got one on the way and i'm hoping it's got panther on it. we want to run protools on it and the tiger compatible PT update won't be ready for another month and half or so.

How about the noise???

Well, it seems very quiet, probably quieter than my G3 iMac which is sat next it at the moment- THe old G3's hard drive can be heard above the sound of the fans in the G5 iMac.

And i've been using it for the last three hours non stop.

So- no fan problems as far as I can see! (or hear, in fact!)

Yes, as long as you buy it through the appropriate EDU store.

It shipped

My iMac shipped today, but it won't be here until Monday. When I called Apple, the lady I talked to said overnight shipping qualifies for Saturday delivery, but I guess not. :(

Also, can anyone recommend a reasonably-priced programme for transfering files over from a PC to the iMac? I just need stuff like pictures, videos, music, and Word documents transfered. Thank you so kindly!

Move2Mac by Detto. $39.95 at Amazon...free shipping. I used it and it is simple and quick to use.

You don't need any special programs, a network cable to connect the computers will do fine.
Btw, congratulations!

I ordered a stock 20, nothing extra.

Still says preparing shipment. I hope Apple's systems are just delayed and that it will say shipped in a few hours... that will make my day but I am just expecting it 05/10. However they already charged my card about 90 minutes ago.

renton, wa in the US....

shouldn't be too long since I wont have customs delays and everything as it seems most orders are coming from TN... which I can verify.

I work for an electronics distributor and he was delivering Sharp LCD TVs today, he had to hurry because Apple wanted him in TN by Monday in his truck (poor guy has to drive 3000 miles).

My order is coming from Rancho Cordova, CA for those wondering where the shipments are originating from. It's being shipped to CT.

Also those of you who haven't ordered yet might be interested to know that the Apple store now lists all iMacs as shipping same day.

YES!!!

This is so awesome! The FedEx guy is my new best friend! He had room in his truck, and went ahead and grabbed my iMac, and I'm getting my first real taste of a Mac since high school!
