The "Ships: By May 7th" information thread

Mine still says "Ships by May 7th". FWIW, I ordered through the educational store and it will be paid by purchase order and university invoice. They might be taking care of credit card orders first. Quite disappointed since I wanted to take this to San Fran with me on a trip next week. Appholes.
Well you are in the same boat as other people who bought through the educational store. On the May 7th stuff, one guy called them and asked why his hadn't changed. After a round of we don't know's and oh the educational store customers are extremely important from Apple, his mysteriously went to May 17th .
They wont tel him why either, they state they have no idea.
there are 2 or 3 threads that people who bought through the educational store complained here.
You should call apple if it still says the 7th. They wont tell you anything useful but you will most likely get a new date
My order for a 32gb 3G finally went to prepared for shipment this morning. I ordered the morning of May 2nd. Hopefully it ships by Monday. I just sold my 64gb Wifi this week and can't go without my music...LOL!
unfair. I ordered mine on May 1st and it has yet to change, I even gotten my incase travel kit, but it just bugs me because there's nothing to put in it

I ordered mine May 3 early early in the morning and like you, my status hasn't changed either. So we're in the same boat.
Since Wednesday my 16gb 3G (ordered April 30, 3pm) has been in "prepared for shipment" and "Ships: By May 7th." Woke up to find that it shipped this morning, May 8th at 3am. Talk about pushing the deadline to the max. I still say they shipped it late. (Don't you think there should be a discount or something for that? When Amazon messed up and shipped something a day late they gave me a $10 gift card! Which makes me love Amazon that much more. Apple, you listening?)
Anyway, Apple says it will arrive the 13th, FedEx says the 12th. I hope it's sooner but who knows. You'd think that Apple and FedEx could at least get their arrival dates synced.

Changed to May 24th too
Mine just changed to May 24th ship dated as well. The online Apple store is quoting a 5-7 day ship time. I have spent a LOT of money with Apple in the past year equipping my lab, and this is the "preference" that they give to education? Not Happy.
Mine was also Educational Store order on April 19. First it showed shipment by April 30th, then May 7th now it shows May 24!!! This is RIDICULOUS! We pre-ordered this and even people ordering this today will get earlier shipments!

Yup..that's mine too. They'll probably be on the same flight. That's what happen to some other posters ipads. I think they ship a bunch out at a time. However, I'm hoping my status updates over the weekend and ships Monday or Tuesday. Today is the 6th day for me so I'm waiting to see if Apple keeps it's word, "Ships in 5-7 days" but that might just include business days and if that's the case, my 7th day will be next Tuesday.
Guess I got somewhat more lucky than some of you. I ordered through the educational store on the 1st, and last night it switched over to "Prepared for shipment" which means if it ships by Tuesday, they'll be right in line with the 5-7 business days estimate. FWIW, I ordered the 32GB 3G. Not sure why some of you are having so much trouble with educational store orders
Ordered mine on April 30th at around 3 PDT and it shipped last night after sitting in prepared for shipment for about 2 1/2 days. Says it will be here on the 12th. Thankfully, it's through FedEx. If you read back though this thread, the ones that got shipped though UPS got delayed big time.

I ordered May 2nd in the evening (16GB 3G) - still hasn't changed to prepared for ship. :-(
it is only business days, though I wonder if apple goes by monday-friday or if they include saturday because apple seems to ship things on saturdays too
Is yours a 16GB 3G version. It seems as though those are the ones where the status has not changed at all.

I ordered in the early evening May 2. No change yet. Maybe tonight or tomorrow and shipping on Monday? One can hope.
From the pictures Google Maps is showing, it's quite interesting. Part of it is complete nature, then you have a massive airport, a gondola ride, and the zoo. I wonder what the animals think of the Jet's taking off and landing.
It's been sitting there all day. I wonder if FedEx in China works on Sunday's?
