The "Ships: By May 7th" information thread

Argh! My iPad is nearing 48 hrs in Prepared to Ship. Do you think it fell underneath someone's desk in China? I ordered just a few hours after you guys who hopefully will be receiving yours by Friday.

I had my order change to "prepared to ship" monday night, then tuesday morning I received the tracking info, but its said in transit to lantau island since midday yesterday, i'm hoping it made it on a plane there and the info just hasnt updated yet...

Nah, they'll just say "It's prepared for shipment and can ship anytime" . They know about as much as we do

Why the major delay? I ordered the same thing two days later and mine is shipping.

I think it depends on which model was ordered and maybe even shipping method.

How are you being notified that your delivery date has changed? Email or by checking your order online?

No notification at all...just noticed it when checking the order online. Kinda ******.

The FedEx info for my shipment doesn't show that it ever hit Lantau Island. Don't know if it skipped it or wasn't scanned.

Pirarre - my package was picked up on May 11. As you can see, it sat for a good bit after being picked up.

FedEx still shows an estimated delivery date of this Friday. I'm trying not to get too excited, but FedEx can deliver stuff all over the lower 48 (at least) in about 15 hours. I think Friday sounds do-able.

I probably just cursed myself....

We're all in the same boat fellas. If we wake up tomorrow and it shows Anchorage or Memphis, I'll have high hopes for Friday.

I woke to find that my iPad reached Memphis,TN at 12:56am, and in'tl shipment release occurred at 1:39 am so I'm crossing my fingers it'll arrive tomorrow and not Monday.

Ordered a 16gb 3G on the morning of May 1st. Finally prepared for shipment on May 11, and shipped late on May 12th (11PM EST) from China.

When I originally ordered I was supposed to receive the shipment by May 15, and fedex now says May 18th.

Does anyone know if there's way to schedule a pickup at the local fedex facility before they attempt to deliver? I never use fedex, and I won't be around for the shipment on may 18th. Thanks!

Mine showed "Clearance in Progress" for the better part of 24 hours yesterday until this morning. Now is says "In Transit." I'm not hopeful for delivery before Monday, which is the estimated date anyway. But my credit card was finally charged.

When did or what step did yours say "Clearence in Progress"? Was it before or after the In transit LANTAU ISLAND HK stage?

Both of my cards were charged as well.

UK - your looks to be a day behind mine. My notifications are pretty similar. Look for yours to end up in Alaska later this afternoon. Seems like there are two routes(??)

Is Fed Ex still delivering the iPads on Saturdays? I know they were, and if that is still the case that is the only scenario I can see happening before Monday. I just don't think tomorrow is happening pending a minor miracle.

I tend to agree. We're coming up on 24 hrs so my iPad would be in the Atlantic by now. Look at the bright side, least we don't have to deal with Hong Kong time anymore. If the damn thing would just update we'd all be happy. At least I know my iPad has such good company on the flight over.
