i emailed speck and they said they'd replace mine when i get mine in the mail. they also said their product manager is in china researching the matter.

understand that these kinds of things happen. it is how a company deals with their customers when things go bad that define how good a company really is.

i think speck is handling this well.

I know the revised case causes the zagg to bubble but does the first generation cause it to bubble also. I really like the zagg, I know that I'm one of the few, but I also like ps. What are peoples experiences with either first or second generation speck hd and zagg/ps. I really don't mind the revised case other than the fact that it bubbles my screen protector.

My second gen HD case caused bubbling. It's bothering the crap out of me. I had the ZAGG IS on for about 7 weeks before I put the case on. Now it's done for.

I'd say so, as well, if they're saying that & doing that.

This is a new one for me!

Anybody else notice that this case DOES NOT eliminate reception problem??

I almost forgot why we got these cases for free, so, I tested it out in my bedroom, which has 3 bars at all times. I guess it's not considered a strong signal.
I gave my phone the death grip just to find out that i'm losing bars and reception. It went from 3 to 1 bar.

What the hell is going on?

Um, just had a friend order the Speck HD case for me through the iphone free case program, is it safe to assume they will fix it before I get it? Are they really going to fix it?

Or should I just get the incase smoke instead??

As you can see from perusing videos on YouTube, most phones lose signal strength if you clamp your hands tightly around them. This is different than the short that one can cause by touching the "magic" spot in the lower-left area of the iPhone 4. This is what is minimized by putting a case on the iPhone 4.

I was looking forward to getting this case. After reading all the negative reviews I've just changed my free apple case to the incase snap smoke. I already have the incase snap which I bought thinking I'd have the pixelskin as my 2nd case - but I'd rather have a second snap for the future as I think its great, rather than the crappy updated pixelskin

I understand that most phones do this. But I was unaware that it would still happen with the case installed. I thought we got free cases for this particular reason.

We got free cases to prevent the problem of losing signal when touching the iPhone in the magic spot at its lower-left. That should be solved when using the PixelSkin HD.

Am I not being clear? I touch it, squeeze it, caress it and deathgrip it and it still loses signal on the "magical spot", while the case is on.

A quick vid. Sorry about the low-light conditions. Never put a vid up on youtube either.

OK, so thank you for the video, but can you show us it going back up when you let off the case? I saw you only had 3 bars in the first place, so it would definitely help your case (lol) if you could show us more. I'm unable to reproduce what you're doing there myself. The deathgrip usually results in the bars dropping much faster than what you're showing us.

Another vid? tough crowd..lol.

I know what you mean. While it was happening much faster without the case, I still didn't expect it at all to happen with it. It really bums me out because I have no explanation for it. I can assure you that it happens every time while in my bedroom and the most i get is 3 bars. I don't consider it the best service but it gets the job done. I've noticed that it doesn't go to "searching".

As far as helping my case out, lol, what else would you like to see?

Yes we're a tough crowd. Do you really hold the phone like that, with your palm squished around the side so hard like that? I hold mine in my left hand and I'm nowhere near that brutal with the phone. Heck, even TRYING to be as brutal as your video had no affect on my signal.

Well, I explained that it was a deathgrip. I don't hold the phone like I showed in the vid. But the whole point of the free cases was so I don't have to hold it in a particular way. Being free of mind in how you hold your phone, kinda like any other phone.

The death grip is unrealistic in everyday matters but it doesn't exclude the chances of it happening. If the "magic spot" is covered, shouldn't that be the "end all' of these problems?

Thats what I'm getting at.

Oh well... errr... who cares? :D :D I mean seriously. Who cares?

I do find it interesting that you can even make it happen. I sure as hell can't, and I could without a case.

Man, you would've saved me a lot of time with making that video if you stated, "who cares" before. lol

I don't particularly care, but this is a tough crowd, like we agreed on, so I couldn't make a statement without backing it up.

It is interesting. I found out though, that with strong service, 5 bars, I couldn't make it go down, even without a case. A weak signal will become weaker if you handle it over that spot. I'm over it.

I just wish my my ZAGG IS didn't bubble. Thats my biggest gripe.

Hah yeah that might be it. Well..... *sigh*...

I just feel bad for everyone getting crappy revision. 2s.

Me too. Not cool. I don't have anything to measure it up against, so, to me it seems "ok" for what it is. It sure doesn't feel like it would cost 30 beans though.

I got my case today from Apple, and like everyone else here, I'm not really liking the material of the case.

As far as button pressing goes, it's not too hard to press them, but it's not nice not having any feedback that you've pressed the button is all.

My main concern is the stiffness of the material it's made off, makes me feel like I'm going to snap my phone every time I try to take my phone out!

There are some positives though, no bubbling issues with my SGP Oleophobic and no flash issues. And the case does look the business as well.

Overall, not a BAD case by any means IMO, just a damned shame that Speck resorted to underhand tactics (if that is the case) to save a bit (or a lot?!) of money
