The Speck Pixelskin HD for iPhone 4 is the best case out right now.*EDITED*

I've always babied my previous iPhones and never had a problem with them being without a case... That is until I got my iPhone 4, a waist-high drop from my pants pocket onto some gravel and completely shattered the glass back.
Now I have the Pixelskin HD to protect the back.
Just an FYI.
Ok, so I got my replacement warranty case from Speck... it's the Gen 1, so now I can fairly compare the two.
The gen 1 case is less stiff, which is bad to me, feels less protective. It does go on/off much easier, which is a plus, except it's more likely to let lint in on the sides.
The top button is massively easier to use, the sides are a bit easier and offer feedback the gen2 ones (which aren't that bad to use on the sides) do not.
Haven't tested the two flash hole designs yet to compare.
Basically if the button on the gen2 case worked as well as the gen 1 button I'd much prefer it.

My household recently received 3 of these Speck HD cases (Dad, sister, me).
One is the bad revision, with very hard to press buttons and a very stiff material. The other two are revision 2 cases, with the oval flash but the material is much softer and the buttons are easy to press. The design of the buttons is similar to the rev. 1 case.
The bad case has a sharp edging on the back, while two good ones have a smoother profile in the back. The molds/material are clearly different. The softer revision two fits well with none of the problems seemingly associated with the bad batch.

The bad version has a small plastic lip running around the back edge. In the better new version, the design runs all the way to the edge. There was a video showing the revision 1 vs 2. The latest one has an oval flash cutout but the back and buttons look like the revision 1 case.

I emailed Speck and waiting to get a "non bad batch" in 1-3 weeks.
how long did it take for speck to respond to your email? i sent them a message today..hopefully i will get an answer by tuesday since its a long weekend
