I see everyone is getting the "bad" revision of the case which looks like hard plastic. But if you email Speck, what kind of case will they send?

Maybe they'll send one that looks like the pictures I just posted. Oval cutout, original plastic/ button design

I emailed speck about my hard plastic one, and they told me 1-3 weeks I can expect a replacement. I'm assuming it's going to be like UCLAKoolman's.

Hi, I'm new here...just wanted to say thanks to all you guys for the info...
I'm in the UK and ordered my case through Case Program...got the crap revised version so I've emailed them about getting it replaced...hopefully they should be okay to send one over to London...
Just waiting to see what they say now...

They emailed me a few days ago saying they are going to send me a replacement. I'm in the UK.

MUCH slimmer. I'd say almost half the thickness of the CandyShell all the way around the device.

wow. scrap that then.

i'm extremely satisfied with the pixelskin hd, but if by some chance i could get a similar case with even a tiny less bulk, i'd probably go for it. i doubt something like that exists though.

You're looking for something SLIMMER than the PixelSkin? They don't come much slimmer and still protect the device really. If you look at some of my other posts, I have WAY too many cases for my 3GS and now iPhone 4, and I've found nothing slimmer than the PixelSkin that I'd consider protective in any sort of drop. To go slimmer, you're going to have to go with an Incipio Feather, SwitchEasy Nude, or something to that effect. And all those really do is protect against scratches. You might be able to get away with a really thin silicone case, but then I think you're right back to being unprotective in a drop.

this is what email said "We will email you when the replacement ships probably about 1-3 weeks."

I'm in the UK too and that's the same email I got from them. It must have been about a week since I got that email, but haven't heard from them yet.

Not that I'm being impatient, just saying. Actually, apart from my issue with getting the phone out of the case, I'm pretty happy with my "crappy hard plastic" vesion

Is there a specific product code range that these bad revision relate to?

Or is every single case have a different product code?

Received mine from Apple yesterday and it looks like the newer version (darker border on back, oval cutout), but the buttons press pretty easily. Doesn't feel hard to press at all...not sure what version this would be. I'm returning my otterbox commuter and sticking with this pixelskin for awhile.

I have the new camera cut-out and the buttons are very easy to press, but only with a little bit of resistance so you accidentally don't push them in your pocket.

It lifted my InvisiShield screen protector and created bubbles on the sides so I took it off and replace the protector with a generic one from the AT&T Store. Aside from that, best case so far. Now let's see how it does once there's a drop.

Well was kinda jacked when I received my pixel skin hd through the case program and it was the stiff button version. The buttons specifically the sleep/wake button are very hard to push but the case is very nice overall. I was leaving a store the other day. As I took my iPhone from my pocket a person bumped my arm and I threw my iPhone about 10 feet in the air. As I watched my iPhone hurl through the air in slow motion, I thought there goes 5 or $600 for a new phone. My phone hit the pavement and bounced 3 times before coming to a sliding stop on it's face. As I picked it up expecting to see shattered glass, I was surprised to see the face without a scratch. Not only did the phone not have a scratch on it, the case showed no scratches or dings either.

Two thumbs way up for this speck case. I did not expect this kind of protection from such a slim case. I know it's not the thinnest case out there, but this is still a bad ass case. The buttons are definitely not a deal breKer in my mind, especially if Speck is replacing these revised cases. I do believe it's time to change the title of this thread back to the original title. This is the best case available for the iPhone right now!

I sent Speck an email yesterday and included pictures of the case I received as well as a copy of my receipt from Apple. They responded today with the following:

Thank you for your information. We will email you once your replacement ships.

I can't really complain about that kind of response. Seems like they're willing to make this right and that's more than I can say about a lot of companies.

I got a similar response too -- told replacement will ship in 7-10 days. A+ if it all pans out. I'm going to drill through the volume buttons and dremel off the sleep button. That should make the case usable until replacement arrives.

Before you dremel anything, have you tried the "cutting slits" mod that I mentioned near the beginning of this thread? It makes the buttons usable without having to cut them totally out of the case.
