just got my free case and I'm noticing that the top lock/sleep button is really difficult to press. Not tactile at all. Anyone else getting this same issue?

Seriously? Mine is only marginally harder to press than with the Bumper case/naked.

I just got my Speck case about 45 min ago and I love it!

Took off my Apple Bumper for the second time after two months. It leaves this rubberish residue I had to clean with a tissue and towel for a few minutes. No scratches that I saw. Then I shined up my phone's glass with a fuzzy microfiber cloth and made sure no dust/lint was in the case the moment I took it outside the package.

The case is everything I expected it to be. I have a holster for an older and thicker Nokia candybar phone and the case with it on makes it more snug fit than when it had the bumper. TPU feels great. Doesn't look to be sticky or a lint magnet like those typical silicone cases. The most important to me with this Speck case was how comfortable my iPhone 4 was to hold now that the back is fully protected. Feels great in the hand! Nomore edges from the back digging into the palm of my hands like what the bumper did. Completely flat and I only have to worry cleaning the front glass now if I have those OCD urges.

Just got my free case today and I'm also having the same issue. Other than that the case is decent. Hopefully it will fit on my dock (at work right now).

Is your cutout for the flash one solid rectangle, or does it look like my pictures on the first page?

I ask because apparently there's a version two that's come out that has a very-hard-to-press power button.

Wow...just got my free PixelSkin HD today, and it's a different version than my other black PixelSkin HD that I ordered before Apple ever did the free case program. It's A LOT harder/stiffer than the other one I have, and has a different cutout around the camera and flash. It's much, much cheaper feeling than my other PixelSkin HD. The one I purchased directly from Speck is identical in feel to my Geometric that I purchased from them. Buttons are very easy to press on both of my purchased cases. This free one is incredibly hard to press. I wonder if Speck lowered the quality of the "free cases" on purpose, to meet some pre-set price that Apple set? As in....Apple said "we are only paying 'x' price per case to a manufacturer for their case to be included in our give away program".

Yes that's the new version, that apparently has just surfaced and is quite inferior! Speck, what is going on here!?

I don't know, but like I said...it's DEFINITELY cheaper feeling in quality than the one I purchased directly from Speck. This thing (the free one I received today) is crap compared to my other PixelSkin HD.

Why is it crap?

It's hard as a rock compared to the other PixelSkin HD and Geometric I have. Much harder/stiffer. The buttons are stiff and very hard to press, and the material just feels like a much lower grade than before. This is definitely a different design, as the camera cutout is different than the first issue of this case that I purchased directly from Speck.

Funny you say that because I had the first run of CandyShells, which had the flash problem and didn't line up perfectly. But pressing buttons was easy.

Got the revised CandyShell and it was a lot harder to hit the buttons and the lock button specifically, but the cam cutout was larger to fix the flash issue. Needless to say, I returned it immediately.

Hopefully the PixelSkin HD revised is alright. If not, I always have my Geometric that I'm currently using which might be better anyways as everyone will probably have the PixelSkin HD since that's the freebie.

Can you take photos with the two next to each other?

Looks like from YouTube videos submitted in the past day, with people who say they got their cases from Apples program, all have the new flash cutout. Not sure if they all have that pesky power button issue, but I would assume so.

Just got the free one from apple today. Thought I would even throw it on my phone just to check it out, but with my commuter on, theres no chance now after feeling the quality of the pixelskin. There is zero give to the sleep/volume buttons, and the cheap feel is actually very surprising.

Just got mine in the mail today and it does have the oval cutout. I'm sort of bummed about that but it was free so I can't complain too much. The power button is a little stiff but nothing major and I assume it will become easier after some use. Also the sides do give a little when you put any kind of pressure on them. I am really glad that my Shure headphones fit without a hitch and it doesn't have any issue peeling up my SGP screen protector. I wouldn't mind trying out the first version to see if any of these minor annoyances exist. Overall I'd say it's one of the best cases for the iPhone 4 and will be my case of choice.

I never had the original to compare, but I still like my revised case.

Yes, it does feel stiff on the top and side buttons where I can't feel the click , but this is still much better than the Apple Bumper I had to deal with which left stains on it.

I like that this Speck case doesn't attract lint that much and I can easily wipe it off with my shirt. I like the better camera cut-out. No flash problems, whatsoever. I like the more black polish compared to the original which looks "purple-ish" in pictures. Matches better with my screen background. It fits perfectly into my holster case and the bottom charger port slot is more perfectly aligned evenly with the two tiny screws for those OCD folks who notice.

It is much harder to install, but the trade-off is it doesn't feel loose on the sides which the original was questioned for. This makes it harder for dust and lint to get in! I don't plan to ever take my clean phone out of the case anytime soon. No complaints here. It was FREE and still much better than the Apple Bumper for protection and comfort.

I just got my PixelSkin HD, and I am not impressed. Based on all of the good reviews (which I'm guessing were from version 1.0) I had high expectations. The buttons are extremely hard to press, and my biggest gripe is that it bubbles up my power support protector which I have on both the front and back. I packed the thing up about 20 minutes after opening it. The search continues.

This is terrible! First, some people have mentioned the screen protector issues, so that's something pretty-well known.

THAT said, I'm PISSED that Speck changed their design/materials etc for a new revision. As the day wears on, more and more people are complaining about how hard it is to press buttons. My rev. 1 Speck is excellent in this regard, so the rev. 2 is clearly the issue. NOT happy. :(

exact same situation here. feels cheap, buttons have no feedback, and it bubbles the screen protector. wish I got the original version..

Im probably in the minority here, but I just got mine in the mail today, and It works just fine.Buttons all work as they should, and it has the oval cutout which doesnt hamper the camera.Helluva lot better than the japanese POS I was using before...Itll buy me some time to decide which otterbox I want...

I really hope this isn't the case. I also had a first run CandyShell, and although it was a little bulky for my taste, the buttons worked beautifully. It was way better than the buttons on my 3G's Candyshell. Also, the fit was awesome and snug.

I just received my Pixelskin HD today. It looks pretty nice, but like many of you have already said, it feels like junk. There's very very little action with the volume buttons, and ZERO action with the power button. I'm VERY disappointed. Maybe this is because Apple got these for a big discount, but I'm shocked speck let their quality suffer this much.

I'm still waiting on my Candyshell v2, and I'm really hoping it's identical to the first Candyshell (w/ a camera fix of course)...j

I've got to get my original PixelSkin HD back from I friend I loaned/gave it to. I let him use it since he didn't have a case yet (and if you've seen one of the other threads I've posted in recently..I have over 20 cases!) and I was already getting another HD through the free case program anyway. Or at least I thought I was. This thing only resembles my original HD in looks only. It really reminds me of a cheap PixelSkin HD copy/knock-off.
