Where exactly do you see this choppiness? Except app switcher and spotlight search. Those two are the only cases where I'm experiencing slight framerate drops. Everything else is 100% smooth.
swiping back in any apple app (especially Settings and Mail) 80% of the time you will get a framedrop

Compare an iPhone 6 with 8.4.1 with an iPhone 6 with 9.0.2 on it and the difference in performance and responsiveness is incredible.
Can't do that. I'm already on iOS 9.1 and it's really close to 8.4 as I remember. No major lagginess. And comparing .0 release to .4.1 is irrelevant. First releases always have problems. iOS 9 has been smooth sailing compared to iOS 7.0 and 8.0.

No, it isn't...at least not for everyone. I've done this. I know what my and my wife's phones were like on 8.4.1 and what they are like now.

Different people have different views on what "smooth" actually is. Every time I open an app or swipe back in an app, the first few frames are completely missing and the animation starts from the 1/4 point. So the apps sort of jump open rather than smoothly open from the beginning of the animation. Same thing happens almost everywhere with every animation. The first time you view tabs in safari after a reboot there's almost no animation, but then it's fine afterwards.

Well, I'm not experiencing this. Every time one of you says "do ________ and you'll see it", I go do it and I don't have the same issue. I compare devices still running 8.4.1, one in one hand and one in the other doing the same stuff. Zero difference. So stop chalking it up to some not being as perceptive on "smoothness" as you are.

Only issue I'm having right now in iOS9 beta is that when you swipe down to use Spotlight Search, the search screen is superimposed over the home screen rather than the home screen disappearing. So stuff is unreadable. I've reported it in the feedback app.

Clearly not for everyone as people have different issues to different degrees.

My phone isn't showing any difference. I go back and forth, invoking the switcher, even scrolling through the cards. There's no frame dropping on my phone.

And please do not tell me I'm unable to perceive the frame drops but they are really there.
Same here I see zero difference in this example.

I'm not running the beta. Maybe if I was running the beta, I'd see what you're talking about. But I can only talk for 9.0.2.

That's completely irrelevant. When we say it's no different than the previous version of iOS, we mean it's no different than the previous version of iOS. The "smoothness" has NOT changed for us. And the fact that it hasn't changed suggests that something else is to blame for the performance issues you have been getting.

Some people just have higher sensitivity to stutters/fps drops.Forminstance while gaming On first person shooters the drop from 60fps to 50 bothers me and I notice it but for some they don't notice it all

How do some of you watch movies? Considering that the majority of films and even tv shows are filmed at 24fps or 30fps. That must drive some of you bonkers! :p

I'm kidding of course.

P.S. Is the Bonkers candy still around? I miss that from the 80's.

Opening apps. Closing apps. Control center. Basicly any animation.

The issue is there. Even the iPhone 6s has it. You just don't see it. I know that's difficult to grasp, the idea that others see things you don't, but actually that is the case.

Just as some people actually have more pronounced issues while others don't.

Back to the arrogance other posters have mentioned? Some phones seem fine, others seem like they are having issues. My 6+ is extremely smooth unless it has the battery saving mode on. I have extreme OCD ( the kind diagnosed not the, "omg my new phone has a small unseeable scratch") I notice crap like this, my phone is fine.

In some other threads some said their phone were smooth and were brave enough to post a video. It showed that much of this comes to perception as they were not smooth to my eye.

I think there was one example of someone finding a random YouTube video of someone doing that.

No, I was referring to some videos user posted about their own phones. There was at least about twitter app scrolling and about control center.

Unless I'm missing something, I don't have the issue. I'll post a video in a minute. Best way to post a video is youtube right?

End users and the OS are the variable, not the phones.
