Just as a heads up, while the G3 does indeed suffer from it's high-res screen the Note 4 does not.

The Note 4's screen has a LOWER power consumption than the Galaxy Note 3. Heck, it consumes LESS power than the HTC One(M7)'s 1080p, and Xperia Z(also 1080p) display.

More pixels and better power consumption? Nothing to complain about, only issue might be more heavy usage of the GPU.

For the Note 4, the power consumption argument is moot.

The N4 display is sounding almost too good to be true, I can't wait to see it with my own eyes. :) It must really be superior to the G3 display in other ways than just the resolution, because that one didn't impress me at all really. Or at least it seemed very dim when I tested it.

Fingerprint scanners are a dated technology, that's why no Android phones use it.

The lag on iOS is far worse than the lag on Android devices because the cpu and ram do not match, not even close.

Lol the s5 and others tried it but their implementation is inferior to apples.

I honestly feel that the iphone 6 is better than others like the s5 etc but the note 4 is better than the 6 plus.

For people who vehemently claim to not like the iPhone you guys sure obsess about it...like A LOT.

Wonder what it's like to have Apple frequently live in your thoughts rent-free. Stemming from dat visceral desire to continually re-validate your decision to be an Android user.

Funny enough, the fact that many of you are members of this site means a lot of you have contributed to Apple's bottom line/hype machine at some point.

Ok ima feed the troll. FYI there are people out there that truly love mobile tech and know almost everything that there is to know about the various OSs' on the market.

Perhaps there are even some out there disappointed that Apple isn't being the best that it can be, perhaps some would love to go back but Apple just isn't evolving fast enough to compete with Android.

Some people in this area of the forums don't like iOS or Apple, that is why it is an "Alternative" venue for discussion. Since this forum lives in a Macrumours site I can see that Apple does come up in the conversation.

Your post seemed a bit antagonistic and yes I will take the bait on this one just based on the condescending nature of the post. It seemed quite arrogant actually.

I have been on these forums for many years now and have been on both sides of the OS fence. Currently on the Android side waiting for Apple to offer something similar with their sexy hardware that I won't have to second mortgage my house for. Alas, this release of iP6 and 6+ is just the same old software with a few buffs and shines.

Just another hypocrite. Obviously as much as the android fans have apple on their mind, he has android fans in mind otherwise why bother posting in this thread. Oh the irony...

You're gonna be waiting long or just get a HTC One M8. If you're a long term user then you should've acclimatised by now. Apple is Apple and Google is Google. Two different companies, different ethos and different approaches to end-user products. The sooner people recognise this the better off they'll be.

The original article posted in this thread had zero objectivity. It was a predictable fluff piece. The author makes superficial comparisons and then makes a troll conclusion. You either agree with what he had to say or you're an idiot. The Moto X didn't have the latest and greatest and it was hailed as one of the best flagship devices of 2013. So clearly its not all about matching hardware specs.

I just think people are being funny by levying ridiculous expectations on companies they don't even know the inner workings of and then write out pieces about being 'disappointed'. But hey people are entitled to their opinion.

Apple 'isn't being the best they can be?' and Google and Microsoft are? also what defines 'being the best that you can be'. Who gets to determine that? the market, the company or tech forum users? If market, then the numbers suggest the market is happy with what Apple is doing. If forum users then Apple is doomed...has been doomed since 2010 apparently.

I'm not saying Apple is perfect far from it. NONE of these companies are.

You don't like iOS/Apple great. But why reiterate recycled arguments as to why every time there's a new product release, when its obvious the company in question couldn't care less about them for the most part.

iOS/Apple will never be Android/Google. And i'm content with that. Not everyone/everything has to be yet another Android (or Andorid-like) touchscreen slab.

Anyway my intention wasn't to antagonise anyone. Just found the phenomeon interesting is all. But thats my own problem so...

Please carry on.

This is my last reply to the thread.

PS- I also love mobile tech (nay i love tech in general) and have used devices from every mobile OS platform in existence over the last decade.

After having a note 3 I will never touch a Samsung device again to be honest , doesn't matter how many specs the note 4 has , the software is junk imo. I just got the iPhone 6 plus , my first iPhone in years and one thing I have noticed is the apps are so clean and rich I content and performance compared to the ones i hAd on android.

I'm so glad I'm not the only person that feels this way.

I WANTED TO LOVE THE NOTE 3. But the software was extremely buggy, way too much enjoy. I loved the original Samsung Galaxy S a lot better. I've had so many times the phone was just too slow to handle to where my screen would go black and stay there until I took the battery out.

I feel like Samsung phones are half-assed. Great concept, terrible execution. Samsung's problem is that they throw out too many ideas and don't refine enough. Do you remember when feature phones that had that ONE good feature that you held onto for a couple years? Samsung just overlaid Touchwiz and added features they could use in an ad. They have excellent hardware, but terrible software.

Weird, I can only assume Samsung had hardware issues with some of the N3's. The 2 N3's I owned exhibited NONE of this behavior whatsoever, never slowed down except when I first started the phone app, etc. But maybe it's a hardware issue, I did return my first N3 with a failing proximity sensor and GPS.

It's just weird to hear these sporadic reports of how bad they were, but to have the complete opposite experience.

I find it weird that you are having issues with the note 3. My girlfriend has that phone and it's smooth as butter. There is no lag, maybe your device has a hardware issue. Most people have never seen a Note 3 go black, wtf.......Note 3 is a very fast device.

So what you are saying is that my experience is invalid because it ''offends'' you? I'm sorry, but that sounds very ignorant.

To say this: I've had a Samsung Vibrant, HTC EVO 4G, Note a Nexus 7 tablet, and a Nook HD tablet. I've only ever had an iPhone 4S.

But because I've been having issues with my Note 3, wherein I've had virtually no performance issues before, some how whoever the hell your girlfriend is had a smooth experience on here phone somehow mine isn't fast?

Somehow the $300 I slapped on the device doesn't matter, that I chose it over the 5S last year. Really?

Again, it is MY experience. I'm switching back to iOS until Samsung can get their shotty Touchwiz together.

Wow, what a angry fellow. Touchwiz is fun to me and I have both a note 2 and iPad air but prefer my note 2. IOS 8 is laggy and Safari still sucks. Most people are already seeing this lag on their brand new iPhones.

Say what you want about iOS 8, but it completely outperforms Touchwiz in every way, shape, and form. Touchwiz looks pretty awesome, but its implementation is atrocious across the S line of phones.

My view on the note series is that in terms of hard ware it's the best on the market in terms of specifications, no doubt about it. Although the build quality on the note 3 I thought was crap , the cheap plastics and the painted chrome bezel that chipped of mine after a few months. I Don't dislike plastic on a phone , my nexus felt beautiful in my hand and was a really well built phone , the note however felt cheap.

My averall experience Though of the software was terrible , everything looked and felt cluttered, too much was happening in the screen at one time , the settings look cluttered and didn't make sense , s voice was garbage , just the overall experience was bad out of the box and when I tried to change how it looked via third party stuff , performance just dropped probably because of too much stuff going out in the back ground. Oh and I had the note 3 as soon as it first come out. And even after 5 months of kit Kat being out , I still didn't have the updated software which massively pissed me off considering its a flag ship phone that should be updated much much quicker. Which is why I moved to the nexus 5.

And now the iPhone 6 plus because of software updates , build quality etc

Hopefully Samsung go the same way as Motorola and in future cases make it more like pure android for performance gains and simpler use/ wuicker software updates, although they seem to be doing the exact opposite and building on the clutter.

Indeed it is but nothing exactly wrong with having different opinions is there. I prefer simple and quick software that gets strait to the point like iOS and pure android. You might prefer feature upon feature type of software :)

I actually like both, efficient hardware/software combinations and many features. That's why I fell in love with the Note 3 and it's what made me defect from apple.

I still find it very difficult to believe the entire slowness/lag on the N3, I'm just not seeing it. I've thrown out this challenge before and it still stands, if anyone wants to tell me which apps or settings the N3 lags in I'm more than happy to video my N3 next to a iPhone 5 both after fresh reboots to compare how fast apps open and run. Now maybe I got the only properly running N3 in history, but I'll be willing to bet we won't see ANY appreciable difference.

Agreed. Nothing is wrong with android but Samsung phones are really really bad. TouchWiz makes the devices unbearable to use.

For those that don't like ios I always suggest the nexus lines or even the Moto X (even though I hear the new ones battery isn't very good).

This must be true. Samsung phones are really really bad and they are so unbearable to use I can't imagine they manage to sell any at all!
