Then you have been fooled big time by Iphone 8+.

Note8 has a wider and much taller screen than 8+ in a similar body size. Note 8 screen size in terms of area is 22% bigger but with a body area that is 2% smaller than Ip8+. Not to mention Note 8 weight less as well.

In fact 8+ is more cramped and a brick.

Not similar. Taller narrower and thicker.

"Not similar" is quite an over-statement when we are just talking 3mm talller, 3mm narrower and 1mm thicker

18.5 9 vs 16 9 aspect rations are not similar.
Not to mention Size and weight distribution.

Except the device is is about 7 mm thick.
A mm here and there makes huge difference in the hand.

Not just one. Several here have said similar stories. Going from the note to the 8 plus or v30.
Some people on this site go through phones like a portly kid on Halloween. It's it any coincidence that all those people progress through those phones in the order that they were released? If the Note 8 and the V30 switched places you would see numerous people switching out the V30 for the Note 8. Tmobile made JOD just for people on this sub.

From their posts most claimed they tried it but it wasn’t to their liking.
Some gave size and weight distribution as a reason, others claimed it was FPS placement, glare from the curved glass etc.

Others said they wanted a pixel xl2 instead. I interpreted that as wanting clean android as opposed to a skinned version.

Some got an iPhone 8 plus.

But people in this sub seem to always go for whatever phone is the in thing at the time. Sure there are reasons but there is no perfect phone. There will always be reasons why when you are addicted to buying the latest phone for the sake of it. I keep my phones for a while because I use them as tools to get things done and improve my life.

It’s also longer and thicker.

The dimension differences are slight. It seems that some prefer one over the other. I have a pretty large hand and still prefer the slightly narrower Note 8 because I can more easily use it with one hand... particularly hitting the back sensor vs. front sensor on the iPhone which is hard to do with one hand and high risk of dropping the phone.

Stop using logic! iFans don't like it!

But yeah, the people who did switch are people who generally switch phones on a regular basis. I mean take @jamezr for instance, I'm pretty sure he had a LG G6 and a S8+ not so long ago I can't keep track of his phones.

At the same time I'm not surprised some are going from Note8 as this not a device built for everyone, its size, weight and features appeal more to power users who want a do it all device and the SPen.

I personally am one, no other phone will do, I tried going back to Galaxy S with the S7 Edge when the Note7 was discontinued and great as the S7E was, the lack of SPen and smaller display had me wanting to go back to my Note 4 regularly.

I think the LG V30 and Galaxy S8+ appeal to a wider audience.

Not sure where you are seeing all these people exchanging their Note 8 for other devices. I think I'm following all the threads here related and the vast majority of what I consider real Note 8 owners seem to be happy. For those that "say" they don't like it and are swapping, it generally falls into one of several areas

  • Don't like the size - if coming from a plus size iPhone I think this is a reach since they are physically almost the same size. It is certainly a personal preference thing.
  • Lag - most Note 8 owners are saying they see no lag and getting the argument that it will happen in 6 months. Maybe so, maybe not... but I will deal with it then if it happens. A factory reset would certainly fix it.
  • FPS placement - personal preference at best... I certainly would prefer this to the X solution of not having one. If you want no bezels, then this is where things are with current tech, and its pretty easy to adjust to after using for a short time.
  • Prefer iOS - on this forum, I think this is really the main thing that might cause someone to move. That said, I am actually enjoying the change as iOS has gotten pretty boring. Android is as complicated as you want to make it, and out of the box I don't see a big difference. Samsung's added apps for the most part are excellent and am using a lot of them.
So again, not seeing this big number of Note 8 people ditching it that you are.

I’m sure everyone has a reason.
Here are a couple not counting the op or tsep addition.

I preordered the pixel XL 2 and after playing around with it at a Verizon store I think I made i good decision. The note 8 is great just too much added on top of android skin. If you want something similar to an iPhone with fast updates get the pixel (awesome camera too). I’ll give it a shot. Im still considering the iPhone X but the lack of a FPS does bother me (please don’t try to justify it, not now at least) this applies to this first version so I can wait till after the holidays. For those “scared” to try the note 8 don’t be I have used all the notes except 7 and they are great phones! Give it time and patience, at least 10 days! It won’t disappoint!! Or get the S8+

I had the Note 8, and got rid of it today for a iPhone 8 plus. Glad to be back in iOS. Had the Note 8 for a month and it's weight, and size was just getting to me. It was snappy, and fun to use, but I like the phone to be easy to do on everything like iOS makes it. Both are great phones. I hope to have good battery life on the 8 plus, unlike my 7 plus.

Yeah I noticed. A week and a half, another thing was when I remembered that a rooted note 8 with snapdragon models had reduced battery capacity. That was another deal breaker. Also while I loved the screen I hated it too...its so big lol but beautiful. I still miss my note 8.

Also thankyou

So after being underwhelmed by this Apple release, I decided to give Android a go for the first time. Figured I'd splurge on top of the line with the Note 8.

First off, it's an amazing performing phone. But the thing that I couldn't get past is the lack of a home button. I never realized how much I use my phone sitting on my desk or table, and the hover my face over or pickup to use thumb reader on back started getting old fast.

I think this is the same issue many people will have with the iPhone X, but only time will tell.

Guess I'm not ready to give up a muscle memory convenience, so I placed an order for iPhone 8+. I was really looking forward to having emulators with me all the time. O well.

Buying outright. I’ll be selling my note 8 and iPhone 7 Plus (after I get the X in my hands). I will get about £800 for both handsets. So that means I’ll only have to pay £350 extra for the X.

Hope all is well!

Picked up the V30 yesterday ( TMO, JOD ) and traded in one of the two Note 8s’ for it. Loving it so far, but couldn't find any decent cases or tempered glass for the screen..ended up spending another $80 at the TMobile store for the incipio case and some tempered glass they had.. Looks great, but damn ..$80! .. Oh well, the device has been great so far and I agree with @jamezr about the FPS speed and doubling as a power button.. I keep trying to depress the sim tray thinking it’s the power button lol..

To early for other observations, but will keep updating !

Pixel xl 2 and iPhone x are lunching soon aswell.

Exactly... you keep posting that a lot of people are trading in their Note 8, is implying there is some big flee going on, which is not the case. These accounts are few... and are exactly the reasons I pointed out. Its great that we have choices that serve different preferences and needs for a smartphone.

Then you say there aren’t any people exchanging the note 8
And introduced the term “real note 8 owners” as to those who haven’t exchanged their devices, a bit confusing

Not really few when you consider there maybe 12 or 14 active posters on the board currently have a note 8.

I’m selling my note 8. However perhaps I wasn’t a serious buyer as I always intended to keep my iPhone and use my iPhone as my daily driver. Also I should have learnt my lesson last year as I bought the S7 edge with the same intentions (secondary phone) and it got sold after minimal use. I won’t make the same mistake three years running.

Some here won’t label you a “real note 8 owner” whatever that means. Even though you actually purchased a note 8 and actually used it.

What are you getting instead?

LOL exactly, I cannot fathom how people can afford all these brand new flagships phones they switch out every couple months. Yeah if they are on the T-Mobile monthly JoD program, that makes sense,. but I don't think most of them are.

Must be millionaires on this forum :) To get every flagship phone released in a year, you'd be spending over $10,000 cash annually just for new phones.

And for what ? At the end of the day is the S8+ much worse than the Note 8 ? No. Is the LG V30 way better than the G6 ? No. Is the iPhone 8 Plus a must have over last years iPhone 7 Plus ? No.

Smartphones have plateaued in the last year or so. A Galaxy S7 Edge can do pretty much the exact same things the Galaxy S8+ can do. A iPhone 7 Plus can do the exact same things as the iPhone 8 Plus.

Who the hell would buy the Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+, and Note 8 all within in a few months of each other ? Makes no sense to me, and zero reason to do so in my opinion.

iPhone X.

Nice.
I’m thinking of picking one up as well. Wasn’t going to, but the more I see the pictures of it in the wild, the more I’m leaning towards preordering.

Don't you see he is trying to push a narrative? The strange part is that the people he chose all agree that the Note8 is a great device but not for them, it's THAT simple, but he has a narrative he has to desperately push when it comes to Android

Every year he is here after some new release posting nonsense and then back peddling or trying to twist what has been said to follow his narrative.

For goodness sake the guy was arguing about minimal differences in side bezels of 2 phones, rather ignore him or things will get incredibly petty or read his posts and have a good laugh at how desperate it all looks, coming down here.

To you exactly......imo the Note 8 is absolutely the best phone you will be able to buy all year. The only phone that will supersede it will be the S9 but that's for next year. Myself, others, reviews, and maybe not you agree. :D

I'm your opinion the note 8 is. Its not for me.

If what you are saying is true, then you are giving a company a "ton" of money for a new phone that is almost identical to the old phone, and that you are saying the first one was not good. On top of that, the 7 is just a rehashing of the 6, so hopefully the 3rd time is the charm for you on a phone that you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference if it were in a case. Same with the watch... basically the same design for the 3rd generation. Among other things, I was pretty bored with the same stuff. I skipped the iPhone 7 and Apple Watch Series 2 because they were pretty much the same as what I already had... or less since the headphone jack was removed. Now another year and same again. Meanwhile, other companies come out with new designs each cycle. Apple used to do it every other... now they are going 3 rounds. The X is finally a change, but the OS will be identical other than animated poop emojis, and they didn't create a plus version.

Glad you are happy with what you got, because as you said you gave them a ton of money. Forgetting about how happy I am with the Note 8, I'd have a hard time going back to an Apple Watch after using the Gear S3 even more.

Like I mentioned. I know the iPhone 8 isn't much different from the 7 or 6. Same as the watch. But I am comfortable with them and they work great. The note is a great device and I've had most versions of them. But lately I am growing more towards apples ecosystem and so is my family.

I had the gear s3. It wasn't that great. Less quick into letting you know about alerts. It also a lot didn't recognized I got up and moved around and would tell me to start moving. The apple watch never did that.
