Well, there's a lot to do around the house and garden, then I'll find something part time but stress free to do.
I quite fancy trolley recovery at a supermarket ;)

Cheers :)

Yes I'd use the lens foot.
[doublepost=1490258874][/doublepost]
I hear what you are saying, but I rarely shoot only landscape. As I get out so rarely I like to make sure I have a good range of focal lengths covered.
[doublepost=1490258924][/doublepost]
I'll look into Gitzo. My code will cover those as well as they are manufactured by Manfrotto.

Somethings I hadn't considered.

I have had a Silk for 50+ years, Bullet proof!!!

My tripod arrived today. It's very well engineered. Really thought out well. I suppose it should be for the price!
I'll post a bit more of a review once I've used it a bit. It feels as sturdy as my 190 Aluminium Manfrotto but a fraction of the weight and size.
Anyway hopefully I'll get a chance to use it over the long weekend.
That's the plan anyway.

Enjoy it @Apple fanboy. Have to agree with you on the engineering with them. Rock solid, I don't feel nervous mounting the larger lens on it, even with the column up.

@kenoh, what tips you got for getting G.A.S. under control? I need a 10 step program I thin after the last couple weeks!

Lol... Erm I just treated myself to a new MacBook Pro yesterday... So I don't think I am qualified to answer.... Was too embarrassed to say anything.

Went into apple store with my kids and saw the 15" retina with touchbar and had a flare up of GAS...Got my butt handed to me last night by Mrs Kenoh...

My trick for managing GAS... Not really keeping it under control... Is to have the next item on the lust-have list an item you just cannot go there on. For example, desperately wanting a Leica M held off my GAS for a while. Now I have access to an M I have a Noctilux lens on the list. I cannot in all sanity pay that much for a lens but I really want to. The boss would most definitely take my money off me if I bought one though so rather than control it, rather it blocks it like a dam in a river... But like a dam, one day pressure will build and it will burst...

Yesterday was a wee pressure release... Future pressure releases may be a 16-35 lens, or a 70-400 and adapter... But in the meantime they are preventing the purchase of a new car, a Noctilux and a M10... I have a serious problem...

The other thing I do to help myself is that anything I buy, I have to put the same amount into my mortgage when I purchase it so buying a £5600 M10 for example means I need £11,200 so I can price match it into my mortgage... Makes everything immediately twice as expensive and when I do something silly, i am doing something sensible too if that makes sense... So it slows me down.. truth is there is little I really need. I have plenty of kit to remind me how much I suck at this...

This step seriously curbs my spending. My savings took a thumping yesterday for sure!

These are the mind games I play with myself to disguise the fact I am an idiot for wanting shiny new things...

But... There are people more acutely afflicted with GAS than me lurking in the shadows on here... They know who they are and they know I know who they are...

On the plus side, this camera lark has stopped me spending stupid money on watches. :D

Wise move holding off on the noctilux, mrs kenoh might rip you a new one big enough to have you fartin at about F1.2
Maybe you should get one of these as a decoy...

Now that you mention it....I'm surprised you haven't got more lenses for that too!! Oh wait.. did you mean the F1.2 bit?!

lol... no, the wooden one... no f1.2 in this house... I cant focus anything more than 1.4! my jitters in my hands would negate any benefit! I would have to have a tripod with me... oh wait... here we are back to the OP topic... :)

lol...

When I hear or see GAS, I think of you Ken, so I don't reckon there's anybody here with a worse case, sorry ;)

So you're already considering an M10?

You're a bugger really, because I keep thinking if he can buy one ...
... but, I still have my 2010 MacBook which runs Sierra fine.

I did buy a Voigtlander 15mm the other day, but only because I need it :D

Cheers :)

AHHHH HAAAA!!! dont think a small font is going to hide it!! It is a great lens isnt it? I have to say I do love the colours it gives.

lol... me a bugger? mais oui... I was (am) considering an M10 of course! but I love the M9 so on the fence. My only thing with the M9 is that I will wear it out one day then what do I do?

You guys are funny... trust me... there is someone walking amongst us who has incredible GAS... they have bought a lot of high end Nikon gear, a Sony A7Rii, pretty much ALL of the lenses worth having that are available for it and some specialist equipment.... this all on top of having a stellar load out already!!! they are WAY worse than me...

Haven't received the 15mm yet (2nd hand), but I have the adapter already so I'm itching to go.
I actually had a brand new Samyang 14mm for about 2 days, but I sent it back as I couldn't put up with the wavy horizontal distortion which was way worse than the reviews said.

So, who are you referring to above?

Cheers :)

Which version of the 15mm did you get? the version 1&2 will colour cast and give you mangled corners - you can crop them out but reduces the gorgeous perspective the 15 gives you. Get the corner fix tool for Lightroom as that helps to fix some of the issues with the 15mm version 2.

The version 3 is adorable on the camera. I used it almost exclusively in Utah last year. I just love the way it renders.

I am not saying who I am talking about but they know who they are. Not a week goes past that they haven't had a cheeky splurge.... mind saying that, you are getting close to it too @Hughmac !!!

Actually I think it's version 1 (with LTM thread). I understand about the colour cast but I'm giving it a try before going for a version 3 if I can't cope with it in post. A little bit of vignetting at f/8 is what I do with landscapes anyway. If I'm wrong I will sell and buy another if I like it enough.

Getting close to what, cheeky beggar :p

Anything I buy (including the brand new motorbike 2 weeks ago ;) ) is a necessary purchase :D

Cheers :)

Glad I didn't get called out on the GAS front ;)

Don't want to put a dampener on your purchase Hugh, but I had the Voigt 15mm LTM that I used a lot on my Fuji XE1 and absolutely adored. On the A7 it was atrocious. Really bad colour cast. I had to sell it and it broke my heart.
