Just FYI all, Apple have put up the iPhone screen replacement prices...

https://support.apple.com/en-gb/iphone/repair/screen-damage

So £176 without AppleCare. I can see some benefit to AppleCare as part of the IUP (since the cost is spread out) but see no point shelling out £199 when buying a phone outright. Might as well take the gamble that you won't need or even stick £199 away in case do.

Wonder if the X will be different with the OLED screen.....

not sure i'd pay much more than 82.99 for an iphone x and i can manage with 64gb currently on 44gb on my 7plus 256gb. Although if it was another £5 but with a bigger deposit then i'd probably go for the 256gb.

I can see the 256gb iphone x being nearly 100 pounds monthly on EE though as they know people will always be tempted by the larger capacity.

Just seen on EE that the 8 plus for annual upgrade for 100GB of data is £82.99 a month! If it costs that much for the 8 plus god knows what they will charge with the iphone x.

Makes me think IUP might be my best bet

I'm probably biased as i think i'm going to go with EE this time but if you add the IUP and a sim only its not far off that price and you get 100gb and apple music for 6 month which most sim only deals don't. For me i think thats the one i'm going to go for as i do use alot of date and hopefully EE allow tethering with the 100gb could all change though still over a month before pre orders start.

I been with EE for years now and they are really good. I have 25gb now and often get close to it and occasionally use it so this 100gb deal with free calls and texts basically means free everything. Im going for the X 256gb as used 90 odd gb now :O

I spoke to them yesterday and when you pre order you can pay as much or as little upfront as you want so I'll likely pay for the phone and have a low monthly tariff on the annual upgrade again. You also get 24 months BT Sports app which I too use often :)

I know this is a very broad question but, is Apple care worth it in your opinion? I’m insured with my Lloyd’s TSB account (with £100 excess) but being put off using that reading people’s comments with insurance in this thread. So I’m looking at apples new prices for screen damage and I would not be happy spending £175 for screen replacement and £400 for other damage and thinking Apple care seems like a good investment (£150 for 8 plus)

Anyone going to go for the 8 or 8 plus with all these rumours flying around about yet more delays? Personally I am going to wait I would kick myself if I got an 8 plus and the X was easy to obtain within a month or so after 27th October.

I think as long as you order within secs of it going live the chance of getting it in nov is possible.

I doubt it because the servers will seize up within milliseconds with people trying to get it. It looks like a fools errand to me.

Many will get one so somebody has to get lucky.

I’m going to order IUP and via EE website as you have think Apple gives carriers some stock

My plan still is to pay off Vodafone completely this gives me an option of pre-ordering a contract phone (second choice) and pre-ordering through apple on IUP or credit card and then try to change to IUP on collection.

Reading all these reports makes me think that the X will launch with delays from the offset. I’m lowering my expectations for a new phone for Christmas

Apologies if this has been asked before, but if the phone is readily available lets say end of dec and apple release a new X in September 2018 I assume you would need to pay for the 2 or 3 months remaining in order to upgrade early through apple?

I am under no illusion that I will get it before December I just hope as time goes on it's more readily available.

Yes you need to complete 11 payments to be eligible to upgrade in IUP

.....slightly off-topic but what cases are people opting for, for their iPhone 8/8 Plus? I'll probably either go for Apple's official leather case, or Twelve South's wallet style case (which is also offered on Apple's website)

My current Apple leather case still looks good after 12 months so I'll probably get another (different colour) for my 8 Plus :)
