...if you try to exchange in store you're likely to get a brown box unit. Those are just the phones on their own in plain boxes for warranty replacements. It means you won't get one in retail packaging off the shelf and your new phones serial number won't match that on the original retail phone box.

I'm not sure that matters does it? How many buyers of a 2nd hand iPhone would cross-check the serial number of the phone with the box, and anyway, if asked the "Genius" would give you a sticker with the new serial number to put on the original box covering the original serial number.

Spoke to o2. Asked them for my PAC and they asked why. Told them Sky had a better offer and there's was ridiculously priced (iphone 8+ 256gb). They eventually offered the phone on a refresh deal (what I wanted so I have option to upgrade next year). Works out to £52 per month (but grabbed insurance). Will probably lower my monthly cost by chucking a couple of hundred quid at the phone over Xmas. Happy with this. Been a customer for a long old time so it was nice they gave the effort to keep me. Phone arriving tomorrow.

Existing phone (gonna recycle for £220) is an iphone 6s+. Which has been the best iphone I've ever owned.

did the exact same with o2 and they basically told me there was nothing they could do - which I told them I found shocking as my work colleague went into a store and got a similar deal as yourself. Unbelievable way to treat long standing customers - was delighted to tell them that I was off.

Store staff thought the EE exclusive sucked.

Back to the iPhone though, the X launch will be mental:(

Can't help agreeing with them.

Looks like it especially as the production difficulties are not improving and also there is talk of Apple waiting to see the level of demand when pre-orders go live before ramping up production.

It is now believed that supply will not meet demand until the middle of next year.

The problem for other carriers is that they don’t support the technologies which is used to share a number between multiple SIMs, only EE does :/. I did hear a store employee say that EE had the only approved cellular plan, but I discount this and dispute their information.

The X launch information isn’t getting any better... I take a few days off and it’s getting worse and worse. But, Apple can’t have underestimated the demand yet again... no?

It’s a great looking phone no doubt, but paying £80 a month at this moment in time isn’t an option for me. Just being sensible and realistic about the situation.

I’ll still be here come pre-order day don’t you worry about that.

When had being sensible and realistic ever been valid choices when pre-ordering Apple products!

Got to be honest, had no intention of staying. Made up my mind with Sky Mobile. I kept saying I'm off and they eventually offered something good enough to retain me. They should have some consistency though and if you've been long term then why the hell would they let a a customer walk away? Guess you spoke to someone that wasn't that bothered.

£57 (all in). A few quid more than Sky Mobile's offer but looks like I'll be in credit when I upgrade in 12 months time. But I opted for 1gb data (as I work from home and I'm constantly on wifi). Only average 500gb a month on data.

Turns out its not an exclusive though, they're the only carrier who can support it as things stand. Which still seems strange to me - I'd have thought it would be worthwhile for others to invest in.

Did any more analysts back up the single story from last week saying the X hadn't even started production yet?

My plan is to order with EE but think it sounds unlikely the stock will be where it needs to be all round.

I looked at EE's tariffs and compared to Vodafone's they cost too much for what you get.
They are a lot but their speeds are so good they can afford to charge that. Plus going with them my plan was to get the new series 3 watch.

I may just go the route of the apple upgrade program and stick with three

On my way up to London and have a iPhone 8 plus reserved to collect. But I am so not sure whether to get it! I've been on android since the 4s (having owned the 3g, 3gs and 4 before that) and I always wonder about coming back to iPhone. This is the first time an iPhone release has occured when I haven't just bought an android phone so I am in a position to get it. But will iOS frustrate me or please me after years on android?!

The Samsung experience store on Oxford Street is not far from the apple store so maybe I'll have a good play with the 8 plus and the note 8 and try and make a decision. Seems like a big thing to switch back to iOS!

Genuine question here-what do EE’s speeds allow you to do that (for example) Vodafone’s don’t?

EE get speeds up to 60MB Vodafone certainly don’t get near these speeds. I left Vodafone 2-3 years ago due to their shocking signal in most places.

I got turned down again for IUP (was curious to see if I would pass the second time) so IUP is out of the question for me, EE are very fast but you do pay a privilege for that. (I get 60 down 20 up at home on Vodafone)

Was sort of tempted to go the PayPal route and pay off Vodafone but it would only save me about £2 a month and my data allowance would drop to 25gb from 32gb or 42gb if I upgrade.

Saw the Apple Watch 3 in the apple store over the weekend for the first time and it looked way smaller than I thought it would be.

I understand the speed differences, I’m just curious as to what EE’s 60Mb lets you do that you couldn’t do on another network?

I’ve been with EE and whilst their speeds are impressive, there’s nothing I can’t do on Vodafone.

Mobile tariffs have shot up in price lately over here, but there are some deals floating around.

I used to pay £15/month on Three for unlimited data, now I pay £23 a month with Vodafone for 32GB data, but with Spotify included.

One of the benefits to EE would be to upgrade after 12 months on an annual upgrade. More speed is always good but the sell of upgrading after 12 months and getting the series 3 watch is a sell to go with them but If getting the x on the apple upgrade program is more likely i will just do that and stick with three.

Why did you get turned down?
