I'm planning on trying to pre-order a 256Gb iPhone X on 27th October, however, I am wondering what my options would be if I didn't manage to get one for release day?

Do stores get new stock every day - ones that are not assigned to orders. Can I go on the website in the mornings (after release) and try and reserve one? Does anyone know what time the stock on the sites get refreshed?

Hope that makes sense?

No one really knows you would just have to keep on top of stores and try everywhere you can to get hold of one as I am sure there will be lots of others who might end up in the same situation as you.

sorry this is OT but it will be a 42mm Cellular in Space Grey or Space Black.. no idea on bands.. will see what comes in stock!

I need to go and try them out really to decide.

Good luck and yes after my gold faux pas I recommend trying out to be sure.

We are a bit OT but we need something to talk about and distract ourselves until the 27th!! Besides on the European Watch pre-order thread they were talking about iPhone trade in prices ;)

I was unsure about X colour but given I have now ordered a Stainless Steel watch with white sports band I feel the silver X is the nicest match. Which of courses means it will be the hardest to get!! Hopefully since I'll be getting the 256gb I'll find it a teeny bit easier

Picked up my 256GB Space Grey 8 earlier - upgrade was even simpler than last year.

I was playing with both phones in the store and I've come to the conclusion that I am a regular iPhone guy and it's ok to prefer the 4.7" screen. It really is the sweet spot in terms of one handed usage and usability. Really happy with my choice.

Now if they could bring the Plus camera to the regular iPhone then we'd be in business!

It was the camera enhancements that made me go Plus last year!

Hi you could try to pick one up in store but I recommend placing an order as early as you can on the 27th which you can cancel or return if you pick one up in store before it arrives. After release you can check store stock from 6am every morning and if there is one in stock reserve to collect that day. Store do get stock but it tends to arrive sporadically for the first few weeks. Or you can use the following website to check stock levels.

Guys

Planning on getting Iphone X 256gb, but no addons.

Have few questions though:

1. Is there more chance of getting an Iphone X by pre-ordering it or is there a high chance that it will be in stores on 3rd of November if I got there for the store opening?

2. Is it really worth getting £200 Apple care kit? In the worst case scenario, how much would it cost to replace the front screen?

Thanks in advance!

If it looks like i won't get the iphone x until sometime next year i'd probably leave it until next years update my iphone 7 plus 256gb is working perfectly and i have the s8 note to play with thanks to work.

i would assume the next update would be around the usual time of september unless they will decide to have the new iphone updates in november from now on which is doubtful.

Don't know how other people have fared with Envirofone but they've paid me the full amount they quoted the other week (just over £470) for my old iPhone 7 Plus.

I've sold over 5 phones to them since 2015 and always got the price quoted, they are my go to place to sell phones.

Something tells me you'll be lusting over the iPhone X when it pre-orders goes live.... :p

On my way up to London and have a iPhone 8 plus reserved to collect. But I am so not sure whether to get it! I've been on android since the 4s (having owned the 3g, 3gs and 4 before that) and I always wonder about coming back to iPhone. This is the first time an iPhone release has occured when I haven't just bought an android phone so I am in a position to get it. But will iOS frustrate me or please me after years on android?!

The Samsung experience store on Oxford Street is not far from the apple store so maybe I'll have a good play with the 8 plus and the note 8 and try and make a decision. Seems like a big thing to switch back to iOS!

I know im probably going to get slatted for this on her but im thinking of going the other way and leaving ios as im board of the same old phones. I know the x mixes it up abiy but £1000 on a phone is a bit steep. Would you recommend android?

1. Flagship stores may have some units, but totally depends on how many units Apple makes and how many pre orders are there. As far as I remember, it was nearly impossible to get a Jet Black iPhone 7+ in stores for some time.

2. Yeah it's worth it. Screen replacement would probably be around the £200 mark, it's much better to get Apple Care+.

I think a lot of people may just end up getting the 8 plus if the X is really next to impossible to get hold of until mid next year.

I doubt it will be impossible to obtain before mid next year. My cut off point is probably my holiday in March but even then I would stick with my 7+ and definitely wouldn't upgrade to an 8 at that point!

I've used twice with absolutely no problems. Very reliable.

Looked at what they would give me for my OnePlus 5 £120 no thank you, going with CEX and getting £325 :D

CEX usually quote me lower than Envirofone but it shows that it pays to look around. Different places will have different demands - perhaps CEX customers prefer non iOS phones......

We might get one 3rd November after all then lol

They should prioritise stock allocation to macrumors forum members :D

Well if the latest reports are true it may not be so bad getting hold of the X after all.

I have been using a Galaxy S8+ for the last week and I have to say that it is a seriously impressive piece of kit.

I say that having had a new iPhone every year since the very first one in November 2007. I've had every model except the 5c and the SE.
