Is there any way to ‘force’ yourself into the website/app when it goes live at 8.01? I know that sounds odd but previously I couldn’t get past the store unavailable page until like 8.10 but others had got in, is it just luck or is there a way of getting it to let you in? (Other than force closing and hard reloading it?)

Nope. Nothing apart from hitting CTRL+F5 (to bypass browser cache) or CMD+R on a mac.

Apple’s site sits behind Akamai’s CDN which means when you ‘connect’ to the site you’re going to be hitting their nearest Edge server to you. These edge servers all cache copies of content (to offload the traffic from the underlying servers) so that’s where most issues arise in some people seeing the site before others. It’s likely that there are rules set up to keep copies for a predefined period before going back to the source for the fresh content.

Using the Apple Store app seems a bit more speedy sometimes? There’s not one easy way to do it I don’t think! Have everything open and ready to click like a maniac!

Wow didn’t realise a whole month has passed since the announcements. I seriously cannot wait for the next 13 days and 19 hours to pass. Today is Friday so just need to wait for two more Fridays!

This thread will be full of people who managed to get Nov 3 deliveries and people who managed to get later deliveries!

Thanks for the explanation. Would using a VPN to put yourself nearer a server make a difference?

I’m going to be on holiday on the 3rd of November so if I some how manage to get a launch day delivery I hope I have good internet so I can rearrange delivery.

I personally think the 10.5” iPad Pro and a MacBook is an excellent combination. I only wish I had a MacBook Pro rather than the 12” MacBook but it’ll do for now!
Yeah thought it made more sense than two iPad sizes. Got the 10.5 with cellular so can use it out and about

iPad Pro 10.5 arrived today and sold my 12.9 today too and ordered the MacBook pro with touch bar to keep m3 going until the x arrives ha
Didn’t you like the 12.9 Pro?

I have had the 10.5 since July and I love it.

I rarely use my MacBook so I don’t see any point in upgrading from my Air but when the time comes I’ll probably end up getting the MacBook 12 inch as the pro is really overkill for me.

That’s fair enough. For me the benefit is mainly that I can take notes on the pro and I wanted the better speakers and faster processor and things as I hope to keep it for a good few years. Plus I sold my air 2 last year so was missing having an iPad. I agree for me a MacBook Pro might also be overkill but the extra screen space is always welcome. That being said I’ve never really struggled with the 12” MacBook.

If I’m planning on going down the route of spreading the cost over 20 months with the finance from Barclays, is it an option to reserve tje phone on the 27th or do you reserve the phone the day before release?

Mark...

Ummm next Friday is the 20th and pre orders go live on the 27th! Wish it was sooner though! We’ll be away over half term so, very weirdly, I’m hoping my phone doesn’t get delivered until the 6th November!! Never wanted it a couple of days AFTER launch before! :)
Sorry, yeah I meant we are away from 20th to 27th evening so will still be away!

The only option for pre order was to buy outright or reserve for IUP. I assume you’re talking about the iPhone payments (IP) plan, so you could reserve a handset under IUP And when you go in store say you want to take it under IP

So how far are you guys prepared to travel to get an iPhone X from an Apple store? Do you have many that are close by?

I’m a bit confused about this wireless charging. There’s wireless charging and then fast charging? I’d like a charger that has the phone standing up like this but it says it’s only fast charging for Samsung phones? Anyone explain?

Note 8, S8 Fast Wireless Charger, Mudder 2 Coils QI Wireless Charging Stand for iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, Galaxy Note 8, S8, S8 Plus, S7, S7 Edge, S6 Edge Plus, Nexus 7/6/5/4, and Other QI-Enabled Devices https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B074KFCZ24/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_Hft4zbKH5Z059
