Didn’t you like the 12.9 Pro?

I have had the 10.5 since July and I love it.
[doublepost=1507919205][/doublepost]
I rarely use my MacBook so I don’t see any point in upgrading from my Air but when the time comes I’ll probably end up getting the MacBook 12 inch as the pro is really overkill for me.
Yeah I did but after ordering the 10.5 I felt like having two iPads doing the same thing would of been not used as well. Plus I could do with the MacBook Pro for work and now if I need a bigger screen at home I can use my MacBook and use my Pro when I need portability

Liking it do far but took a little while to get used to the size from the 12.9

So are we expecting there to be more options than just standard (free) home delivery for the X ? I can’t recall in previous years (pre-orders) there being an option to pay extra, for example, for pre 9:30 delivery or Saturday delivery. However if you order an 8 at the moment there are these different delivery options.
I’m aware you can order for pick up in store but that only results in adding a couple of steps to the checkout procedure, therefore adding time).
(I’m not interested in the iUP or Payments plan only the buy up front options).

There’s no premium shipping options from Apple. Dependent on your courier you might be able to change things.

There is for the 8/8Plus home delivery on the Apple store - you can select a time slot preference (at a cost). Although, as above, I don’t recall there being options on pre-order ever.

So I’m leaning more towards buying the X outright or through a carrier, but I’m nervous about not having Apple care like I have on my 7+ with the IUP, are there any good alternatives for accidental damage?

Yes, I meant for the pre orders.

In the past once people have known their courier, they’ve tried to use the expedited service (think it was DPD who you can pay for an earlier slot). But given how busy they are in launch day, they weren’t able to uphold this and people had to get refunds etc (this may be going back a few years)

How were peoples experience with preordering the iPhone 7 in the IUP? Trying to gauge the probability of getting the X in the first month.

My home insurance covers loss outside of the house but I don’t know about damage. Will check with them and if not, will look at third party insurance.

AppleCare+ for £200 can sod off. Phone is already expensive enough. Plus I’m not sure I’ll keep it that long - X2 may be a nice step up as they iron out the kinks (although maybe it’ll take until X3 for an equivalent step forward like Touch ID 2)

Any recommendations for insurance?

You can get a refund on AppleCare if you sell your device before the 2 year period has elapsed.

Mine is covered through my bank

Well worth it

Have you ever had to use it? Which bank do you use? I had Barclays insurance a few years back and had to use it on my ipad when I cracked the screen, I had to send it off and they repaired it and returned it to me, it was good but if it would have been my phone I'd of been left with nothing to use. With Apple care on the IUP I had a very small hairline crack in the screen on my iphone 7+, I booked it in to my local Apple store, when I got there they didn't have a replacement screen in stock so just replaced the whole phone for me, it was much more convenient than sending it off.

Never used it no, never damaged my phone ever so far. Apple care is a complete rip off to me. I pay £10 with the bank and it covers all and it doesn’t matter what phone you have either

I’m with Natwest

If you were to buy the phone outright and get Apple care, if you divide the cost of Apple care over the 24 months it lasts for it's £8.29 a month and if you decide to upgrade early you can get a refund on the remaining months.

I’ve used my NatWest insurance on a water damaged phone before. They sent me a replacement and collect my fault handset at the time of delivery

I’ve had positive experience with Natwest also. Have only used once which was for my wife’s gold iPhone 6 which she managed to water damage about a week after getting on its launch date. As many will remember, the gold handset was in extremely short supply at launch. I was therefore very surprised when the Natwest Insurance (Aviva via Carphone Warehouse) were able to send a replacement within 24 hours! Apparently they keep stock of all new handsets for these scenarios.

Only thing to keep in mind is that there is an excess on the policy (I think maybe £100 now) which is more than AppleCare.

It’s still the upfront cost with Apple care though

But if I go with the Apple upgrade program it comes with it anyway

Is Barclays different to Apple upgrade program? In terms of credit checks?

As mine failed with Barclays somehow lol

I have nationwide flex plus mobile cover. £10 a month for the account with mobile phone, breakdown cover, travel insurance etc. I've used the mobile phone cover when I smashed my screen, replacement phone sent, no questions asked. much better than AppleCare for the cost

Do you mean £13 a month?

FlexPlus comes with a range of insurance products and account benefits for you and your family. All for £13 a month.

Damn you Apple and your nice shiny toys that taunt me while I wait for the iPhone X! I just bought a series 3 Watch! Had series 1 and found it frustrating a lot of the time but the 3 looks better?!? Who knows! I have 14 days for buyers remorse! Ordered it half an hour ago and it’s coming tomorrow!!!!
