One word...... pointless

Just like with iPhone 7plus black/jet black, I would assume there will be no store stock except for collections

Really? So theres more chance reserving online for instore pick up then queueing? I just read alot about people reserving online and getting to the store to find out there was no stock left for reservations

One of the risks you take

It’s why I’m ordering IUP and from EE just incase there is no in store reservations

I thought if you reserve for collection thats basically buying the phone with the delivery address being the store? You aren't reserving what stock they already have. Hope so anyway, otherwise might be better to get it delivered to my home.

Does anyone know how the Upgrade Program works for upgraders (not new to the program)?
For example, if we sign on at 8.01 go through the upgrade part on the website and choose the phone, if they don't have stock that day, will we then have to keep trying each day, or will they set up some sort of queue system?

Intrigued to know how it worked in the US last year as some would have been on their second year (i.e. an upgrade). I know it went wrong, and hopefully apple have fixed this, but I'd like to know how it plans to work!

They won’t have stock that day as it’s not released until the following Friday. That’ll be the earliest you’ll be able to pick up in store.

No you can reserve for collection for the upgrade programme OR buy outright online and pick up instore or have delivered.

Comical how theres going to be a 'shortage' of X's. Apple could easily make enough for launch but want all that hype and sold out everywhere vibe.

Thanks, I wasn't particularly clear, sorry.

What I meant was: if we miss out on stock for the release day.
I'm aware that 27 Oct is pre order and release day is 03 Nov.

I'm just hoping we don't have to keep trying every morning at 9am (AFTER 03.11) for new stock allocation.

I'm pretty hopeful that anyone that orders at 8:01am on 27/10 should get one on 3/11, I can't see them selling out of all colours and sizes within the first few minutes, I would like to think dates won't start to slip until at least 8:15am, and even if they do it should only be 1-2 weeks and drop slowly from there, it's not going to suddenly be 3/11 to Jan 2018! Just think, there won't be many people who want it that much they look on here for the best ways to get it quickly like us, there will be way more people that also order at 8:01am that don't look up things like adding it to favourites or using the app etc to make it as fast as possible.

I personally think Apple put out some of the stock shortage rumors themselves, if there was plenty of stock people wouldn't necessarily preorder, they would wait and go into a store and see it on 3/11 before making up their mind, but because they are told you have to order it quick or you won't be able to get it until next spring they will take a chance and preorder. This is probably part of the reason Apple don't put any on display in their stores before launch day, they could easily spare enough to send to stores to show them off before preorders go live but choose not to, they have some set aside for display anyway for 3/11 so why not display them early?

Totally depends on how many units they allocate to U.K and how much demand is (JB iPhone went to 6-8 weeks pretty quickly), but I hope that you're saying ends up being true. I am willing to wait till Dec 21 (worse case scenario I get 6-8 weeks shipping estimate), but I would love to get my hands on the X on Nov 3rd.

Guess you didn’t read this paragraph.

At the same time however, other supply chain sources have sounded a note of caution over the late availability of the iPhone X and worries about pre-order demand for the device outstripping supply, with a supply/demand balance not achievable until the first quarter of 2018.

I am, but looking at the other threads with the emulators showing how content will look on the X, I'm not 100% sure if I\m totally comfortable going from a plus to the X, with the taller but narrower screen, but need to get it in hand to really see how it feels.
