Your options are:

A) pay outright for home delivery
B) pay outright for store collection
C) reserve for in store IUP

If you reserve for IUP you can pay outright when you get there if you change your mind or Barclays decline you. If you pay outright for home delivery or store delivery you could take it to Apple ask them to refund it and re-purchase it on the IUP.

Is there anyway to trade in your old phone for credit at the same time?

Apple Pay

Just make sure your apple pay profile for the card has the correct address and name! When I ordered my 7 it just had my name and the street as that's what apple maps had decided to fill in for my home address, no house number. Luckily the UPS guy recognised the name and brought it up. Crazy how the order even got through with so little detail on it.

I've got a flight to catch on X release day, so am looking at ways of ensuring I get the X before midday when I have to leave for my flight.

Still undecided on whether to go on contract with EE or buy outright with Apple

Can anyone confirm, if placing at order at 8:01 on the 27th.... will it give you slots straight away to do an in-store pick-up? I'm thinking maybe I can try and get an AM slot on the 3rd to pickup my phone from an apple store, and make it to the airport for my 3pm flight!

Alternatively, does anyone know if you selected the 'Pickup from EE store' when ordering a contract through them, do they get the phones the day before, or does DPD just deliver to them on the day?

Thanks
If your phone is delivered via DPD why don’t you pay to upgrade the delivery to pre 1030 (advised by CS as it could be up to an hour late due to demand) meaning it will be in your hands prior to 1200. This costs £10

Anyone else upgrading via Vodafone? Or if you have done in the past any tips would be helpful.

Not expecting them to be as slick as Apple with the 08:01 release time.

Apparently according to KGI there’s only 2-3 million units ready for launch weekend, spread over 50 countries-that’s going to be fun!!

An absolute joke. They either need to delay the launch or delay rolling it out to a number of countries.

Ridiculous. How can the biggest company in the world get it so obviously wrong. Why not have a staggered release with the top 5 countries on 3/11 and some more a few weeks later.

They shouldn’t have committed to a set launch date at the keynote when they weren’t confident they would have a reasonable amount of stock, they should have just said ‘coming this fall’.

Rant over!

We probably wouldn't be saying that if we were one of the countries not in the top 5 and getting a staggered release! Then again at least it might

Slightly OT but I heard a story on the radio this morning that more than a third of people stay on the same mobile tariff after they have paid for the phone e.g. after their 2 year deal has come to an end and they are eligible to upgrade. I bet there is no one on this thread that does that!! Either because we buy direct from Apple or pay for early upgrades :D

There is a call to make carriers reduce monthly payments automatically once the phone is paid for. Even before iPhones I was always researching what phone I was going to upgrade to every 11 months. Admittedly am a gadget freak but I don't understand why people don't even upgrade for a free handset and no change in monthly tariff.......

There only has to be 1 handset available in a country for Apple to say it was on sale there. That way they don't have to make any embarrassing statements about dropping countries.

I dont think its dropping worldwide at the same time as South Africa only started accepting Iphone 8 preorders last week and Iphone X retail prices havnt been announced there.

Sorry if this has already been covered but thought I’d share.

Heard the process for those getting an X who are already on the iPhone Upgrade programme will be much smoother.

Stores will giver priority to IUP users and you’ll be able to place a ‘reservation’ to upgrade even if they’re not in stock at the store and when they become available, you’ll be contacted to come into store and upgrade. This would save having to check store stock daily to make an appointment.

Not sure what this means for getting one on day 1 and if we’ll get priory for that but does seem easier overall.

Apple employees in the store have had training for this.

Another thing to look forward to in the next week or so will be the reviews being published. Hopefully means some more ‘real life’ photos
