Not sure if this is USA only and it’s a little unclear on what it means but

This isn't showing in the UK (yet). 3 days before pre order for the 8, Apple sent an email out to say 'Get Ready to Upgrade to iPhone 8'. The email suggests I could have confirmed upgrade eligibility before pre order to save one step, but I don't know because I didn't do it!

I hope they do something similar for existing iUP members with the X!

Just gave carphone warehouse a call and they confirmed this deposit guarantees you a Iphone X for launch and that you deposit now and someone calls you next friday for the remainder of the payment.

Unfortunately this only applies to contract so I was unable to order. Whoever is going on contract this is a perfect opportunity to guarantee the Iphone X.

If CPW is doing this then it means they must be very confident about their stock levels from Oct 27 onwards. They wouldn't 'guarantee' you an iPhone X if they didn't already know how much stock they will be getting.

Sucks that this guarantee is only for contract only.

Any call centre staff saying they guarantee stock being available should be taken with a pinch of salt. It wouldn’t be the first time CPW or other carriers haven’t lived up to their promises

I know this is slightly off topic, but is the Apple Upgrade Program worth it and then just getting a SIM only contract?

As an annual upgrader I buy the phone direct from Apple but this year contemplating IUP this time because I will be getting Apple care with this glass phone.

concerns would be

a) securing in store IUP stock for launch
b) making 11 payments before upgrading - this would mean potentially missing a September launch in 2018.

For b) I’m happy enough to know that I can sell the phone myself and then pay off the remaining credit due with Barclays in 10/11 months when’s it’s time to upgrade again

So it all comes down to stock levels. I’ll by trying to secure a direct order first and then will look st IUP Availability. If both would come around the same time I’ll cancel my pre order and stick with IUP.

I doubt if you got the iup and had it reserved and you went in only to be told there is none..can’t see that happening. They would need to tell you, first.

You can make additional payments to make it up to 11 or as the Apple site says, pay the difference to make it 11 payments when you iUP next year. I did the former.

On a side note ... I ordered a series 3 watch. I’d stopped using my series one as it was so slow and the battery life was awful and I’m happy to find that there is a marked difference in performance with the series 3. Loving it :)

On the Carphone Warehouse 'guarantee' on stock? I wouldn’t trust them one teeny tiny little bit! Every launch comes and they always promise the moon and pretty much fail to deliver! Good luck to anyone choosing to put their faith in them!!

Anyone who is a Vodafone Advantage customer - take note that you can only get the 15% offer if you buy through Vodafone. Additionally, they are offering 2 years warranty for the iPhone. Looks like I might just go with Vodafone direct and cancel my CPW offer (not sure if I can get my £25 back)

The version I got from CPW just now was that I’d get a call from a Manager next Friday morning and it would guarantee me a phone on release day. The guy also said that CPW are due to get more stock than the Apple Stores (which feels improbable to me, but others might know different?)

He was uncertain about contract only/sim free, but the deposit is refundable anyway so I’ve gone for it to hedge my bets.

If I get in at 8.01 on the Apple Store app and order directly, great. And if CPW then call me, guarantee release day plus effectively £25 off, then even better!

hmm the guarantee on launch day is fantastic, if true.

LMFAO CPW getting more stock than Apple Store. Why the **** would Apple give more stock to some third party store than their own Apple Stores?

Also on the website it says it's for contract only, you pay £25 and they will put £25 and you will get a total go £50 off the upfront cost

interesting to know, would selecting the safari option to block all cookies on my iPhone help?
That's what I'll be doing. Just remember to switch it back to default when the store goes live.

Got any proof of this cookies existence (like a thread discussing it) or a previous name thats been used for it?
Nope

Thank you for that information, should help us all.

By deleted the cookies from safari on settings does that delete it from the apple store app?
Yes it does.

Some sites require cookies to function properly. It’s best to just delete your cookies and try accessing. Chrome/Firefox have plenty of addons that clear cookies and other cached data and the touch of a button

You can also open a private browsing session which would have the same effect for the first request post 8.01.

One thing to note is they you will likely be logged out of the store (if you could even be logged in in the first place!) if all cookies are removed
True. I will have my password in my clipboard ready.

It might well be horse s***, but doesn’t do any harm to have options. The page I saw mentions sim free too.
